I bought this for my girlfriend for Valentine's Day and she loved it. She was using a traditional over one side briefcase that was falling apart. She loved the additional strap to make the bag more secure during commuting and the back pocket for computer storage.

This is my third Commute Messenger Bag I have purchased. One to use everyday, one as a back up/overnighter, and one I gave as a gift. It has so much storage space, padded area for a laptop and IPad, holds cameras when traveling, zipper pouch for important items, compartments for iPhone, cords, Kindle, and more. The back has a slot to fit over a suitcase handle. It is light weight, resists rain, and can be carried on shoulder or cross body. It's has been by go-to bag for business meetings, as a travel bag on the airplane, and even used my second one as an overnighter. Great price, value, and quality. Excellent bag Timbuk2! Your designers get high marks from me.

Great Bag for my work needs. Has every compartment that I normally need and the separate section for the computer is really the part that I love. My computer used to bounce around when I carried my old messenger bag, but this new section keeps it securely in place. I also love the outside strap on bag which allows me to my carry it on carry-on bag. I was a little worried about getting a small bag, but the bag is just right and has more room than my normal small attache.

I bought this bag after a pretty lengthy search for *the perfect* messenger bag. I wanted something sturdy, all-black, and functional for day-to-day and travel use. What I like about the bag: - It's got a separate laptop compartment in the back, which is very convenient for travel. - It's pretty professional looking (at least, by the standards of my very casual office). - It easily carries my laptop plus a lunchbox and a sweater and a water bottle and other random daily necessities. - There are lots of handy storage compartments. I think the only thing I'd suggest changing would be to add clip/cord for securing my keys. That'd be a handy addition but it's not a must-have.

Love this messenger bag. It has a lot of pockets for all your small things. Love the strap. Very comfortable to carry on your shoulder. I would recommend to friends.

I decided on this bag for work since it has enough space in it for a 15" laptop and a separate area for planners, notebooks, and pens. It fights comfortably across my body so my shoulder doesn't have to hold all the weight.

Compact to carry, yet roomy enough that I've even been able to ditch my handbag on workdays. Love the compartments -- I feel like they keep everything safe and uncontaminated from potential spills.

This was a gift for my fianc, who has struggled to find a bag that would work for all of her supplies for school. Every pen, highlighter, clip, and paper has a secure spot in this bag. The Velcro is incredibly strong, and the materials used to make the messenger bag are of a quality material.

I have so many Timbuk2 products that my wife has threatened an intervention if I bought another. But....I did need something to use as my "personal item" to use along with my carry on when I fly. This seems to fit the bill. Good strong material.

I received this messenger bag as a recent birthday present. I use it as everyday as my work bag to lug my laptop and work related stuff all around town. I have to say I really love how well it is made. You can tell the product is very high quality. There is a lot of room inside the bag as well. It's also very professional looking which is great when you have important meetings to go to. Standouts for me: The cushion on the shoulder strap is really helpful when carrying heavy items in my Timbuk2 bag. It's a huge difference - and MUCH more comfortable - over my old work bag!!! Also, I love that the key chain strap is a bright red color to contrast my black bag - makes finding my work keys a cinch. Lots of room & compartments, too. Really strong Velcro. Would love to have: one of the smaller inside compartments (2-3") to have a zipper on it. As it currently stands there is only one large zipper compartment on the inside. Having an extra small one would be helpful. Also, the 2 plastic clasps on the front are hard to squeeze open because they are such high quality. I'm waiting to see if with more use they "break in" but that's my only small item I wish I could change. All in all, I LOVE my bag and have already recommended it to friends!!! I take MARTA to work, and I got tired of carrying three bags: my purse, a bag for books/papers, and then my lunch bag. So I thought I would give this a try. The small is perfect! I fit everything I need it in. At first I thought it was too small, but then more stuff I jammed in it, the more it expanded! And yes, a small tupperware salad fits inside with all the stuff from my purse (and I even jammed an umbrella on top it all), while the papers and books fit in the back (where the laptop can go). This is the best commuter bag!

Prior to purchasing this I had another Timbuk2...similar style, but a bit longer, bulkier (I don't know the model....about 12 years old.)....THIS ONE is sleeker and lighter....perfect! Plenty inside and outside pockets for stuff.

This is a great bag. The two exterior pockets fit my travel coffee mug and a small umbrella perfectly. It is high quality and a great size.

I got an older version of this bag three years ago. I can see that they've made some changes to the design, but assuming that the quality hasn't changed, I can't recommend this bag/company enough. After 3 years of daily use and abuse, there are practically no signs of the thing wearing out. Flap is still just as sturdy as day one. Strap is still totally intact without any rips or holes. Buckles are still totally fine and work perfectly. It's so good that after three years, I still feel compelled to write this review. I've taken this thing to school with me every day for the last six semesters and it has never once failed me in any way. My papers have stayed dry in light to medium rain and I'm sure it would have held up in heavier rain if I had ever gone out in it for long. I once packed for a two week trip across the country in this thing. I stuffed it so full of junk that it really had no right NOT to burst, but it doesn't even show any signs of the abuse at all. It easily fits everything I need for class and then some comfort items. I think the most I held in it at once was something along the lines of three binders, four/five stuffed folders, three notebooks, two textbooks, two novels, a water bottle, and a pack of loose leaf paper (It got pretty uncomfortable so if you want a very heavy load, invest in a padded strap). For real, I can't recommend this bag enough. Only complaint is that the velcro that holds down the flap doesn't work super well thanks to a few years worth of pet/person hair woven into it from setting it on the floor of my room.

I'm a big guy but I got the small sized Commute bag to stay streamlined around the city and it's plenty big. Ridiculous quantity of pockets, pouches and organizational areas. The TSA laptop back zipper pouch is really brilliant. I use the front small zipper compartment everyday. Can also still stuff gym clothes, etc. in main compartment. Everything you need for a full day at the office plus. Could even be an overnight bag in a pinch. "Surplus" color looks great. This bag will reduce the friction in your life and help you get more stuff done.

I purchased the Commute Messenger to replace a TUMI that had become slightly too small. I love the sleek look of the Commute Messenger in all black and the size is perfection. I can carry everything I need without it getting too big and bulky. The strap is comfortable and the addition of bottle holders on either side is useful. I do with there were more zip pockets on the inside--the majority of them are simple open pockets. But otherwise I'm very pleased with my purchase.

16L great size to carry your essentials, lunch and a piece of clothing. I use for business, personal, volunteering, errands and just a general edc from car to office type carry. I've had a 12L, 20L and 28L. 16L is perfect size for the above mentioned reasons.

Used to carry a leather bag, but like TS bags so much better, especially after finding a couple of smaller bags (e.g., lunch bag) at a thrift shop. Like the durability and quality that has gone into their manufacture. And the connection with SF, a favorite city!

Exactly what I was looking for, very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. Has tonnes of space for all the kit that I would carry, fits my 13" MacBook Pro, charger, and USB-C adapter, and Kindle. Still has loads of space left over for my 21oz Hydroflask, notebooks, external battery etc. I have also used the bag as a camera bag, had plenty of space for my tripod, camera, and a couple of extra lenses. Also,the international shipping on the bag was excellent and arrived far sooner than I had expected it to.

My last Timbuk2 bag was 15 years old and I gave it to a friend who started commuting to work. I replaced it with a Commute bag and could not be happier. More functionality than you can imagine. I love the inside water bottle pockets. As always...built to last. I am amazed that the size small bag holds my computer and iPad, clothes, tools, wash clothes, belt, lunch...and it could hold more.

Outstanding messenger bag, extremely comfortable over the shoulder, plenty of room, and weather-proof!
