I bought these for my son who has a kind of wide and flat foot. He loves them. He reports that they are very well cushioned and supportive. He likes the mesh outsole- they let his foot breath in the many hours that he is on his feet. Last time I bought him a pair of asics in a similar style. They were mostly mesh. They were very comfortable, but, did not last very long. By the time we replaced them with these NB, the asics looked horrible. Like a homeless man's shoes. These are not the most stylish shoe out there, but, they look like they will last him a long time. Overall, very satisfied.

Great shoe right out of the box. Good support in arch area, comfortable with no breaking in needed. True to size as well. I would recommend this shoe!

I have paddlefeet with a bunion, so 6e (or bigger) shoes are a must. The nylon webbing at the big toe knuckle are important. NB discontinued the 1145 and this is a great substitute. And much more reasonable on Zappos than a specialty shoe store.

I've learned the hard way to purchase running and walking shoes a size larger. I normally wear a size 10. I ordered these a size 11 to compensate for foot swelling from running and walking. They fit great.

Great shoe. My 2nd pair (the others are black). I supinate and the shoes seem to help. Sometimes I wear my orthopedics, sometimes not.

I bought these shoes to help correct plantar fasciitis based on the recommendation of my podiatrist. These are truly the best walking shoes that I have ever worn. When I wear them all the pain from my condition literally goes away when I walk. They are not the most stylish shoes, but I am not a huge fan of the newer colors and styles of today's shoes. Black and understated works for me. I will be buying these again.

My husband has size 13 extremely wide feet. These are the only athletic shoes we can find to fit him. They are really great! He had a pair of these previously that finally wore out, and Zappos seems to be the only website where we can find them. I can't recommend them enough! We haven't tried anything more expensive since we are so impressed with these.

Finally I got a shoe that I can put on and just wear. Typically, I get a shoe and head for Dr. Scholl's to pad out the shoe for fit and comfort. These I put on and hit the road. I bought six more pair

I have been buying NB for years. I like the fact that they are made in the USA. I read some of the reviews and took one persons advice and ordered a 1/2 size larger from a 11 - 11 1/2. It was a good choice. They fit well and are comfortable. I bought 2 pair. One white & gray and the other black for yard work, etc.

I ordered these in black. They are extremely comfortable and seem well constructed. I had a problem with other brand sneakers wearing through the mesh on top near the big toe. No worries here. These New Balance shoes/sneakers have leather in that area. There is still mesh elsewhere so the foot can breathe well and not get too hot. The design looks excellent with its all black construction. A very minor nitpick is that the laces are too long! They tend to flop around a bit. Overall, though, very highly recommended.

These are great walking shoes. As a dog trainer, I walk about 60 miles a week. My first pair lasted 3 months before the sole began to break down and I just bought 2 more pairs so I can rotate them.

Ordering a pair of shoes via Zappos is like a piece of cake. I love the free shipping and the wait time is relatively short. I also love the shoes which are comfortable and lightweight.

I was stunned to find my narrow size, 11.5 2A available. It is so rare. Sadly, I found them to be too narrow! I then ordered same shoe in 11.5 B. It's better, but even so, feels narrow. (First time to try New Balance, although my wife loves NB.)

They worked okay for me allowing me to log about 12 miles a day walking through Beijing despite having plantar fasciitis. Bad thing is: I have 6x wide feet and though the upper part of the shoe fits (albeit snugly) they didn't bother to make the tread wider, so I was basically balancing a 6x foot on a narrow tread. Very bad if you have weak ankles, which I do, which did cause some uncomfortable and dangerous twisting.

Finding wide shoes has been a challenge for me the past few years. I wear a true 6E width. The ONLY shoes I've found that are wide enough is the Dunham Brand (a division of New Balance) and Propet.)I thought these would be wide enough since they are the parent company of Dunham. But, they are about a half to a whole size to narrow. They are marked as a 6E, but they feel closer to a 5E. Just narrow enough to make my feet sore by the end of the day. Other than the width, these shoes are light, airy and offer plenty of cushion in the heel.

Pardon the length, but Zappos was nice enough to ship me a bunch of shoes so I'm posting the review of all 6 of them here for you. I'm returning most of them, which I hate to do, but hopefully this bulk review will be of help to you. By the way, I'm a middle-aged male, size 14 5E feet with collapsing arches so I need real arch support. Zappos you need to post a real shoe buying guide to save you and your customers unnecessary shipping costs! General shoe buying pointers: 1. Pay attention to shoes. The wrong shoes can cause all sorts of joint pain. My knee inners were hurting like crazy got the correct shoes, knee pain went away. 2. Know whether or not you have high arches or, like me, flat feet, collapsing arches, overpronation, etc before you buy. It has been my and my podiatrist's experience that there are no shoes out there with sufficient arch support as-is. I have lately been using Montrail inserts with great success. 3. Each size of a particular shoe model will have only one sole for all widths in that size due to cost reasons. Wider sizes will have more leather/cloth upper material, thus it's normal to bulge on the sides. That said, some soles are narrower than others. 4. Some shoes will have more curve than others. If your feet don't curve much, don't buy shoes that do. You can tell by looking at the bottom in the pictures. 5. There is no standardization in lasts (the shoe molds they use when designing/making shoes). Certain brands tend to run a certain way and will always be that way. Disclosure: Brooks Addiction Walkers in 14-4E are my go-to shoe. I love them. Been buying them now for almost 5 years. Roomy, great for wide flat feet, plenty of cushioning, and they don t look awful. From the factory their arch support is as good as I have found, though I have to replace the original insoles with Montrails as they wear. As with any shoe, throw them away when they get old and get new ones. Your joints will thank you. Here goes: Saucony Guide 6, size 14-6E. Slightly tight on 14, barely a 4E, no way it's a 6E. Minimal arch support; Montrails helped out quite a bit. I would have kept these shoes had they actually fit like a 6E should fit. They were as wide as a Brooks Addiction 11 Walker 14-4E, so they lose in favor of the Addiction Walkers. The shoes with the yellow are highlighter yellow - just be aware of that. Hush Puppies Mall Walker 14-5E. Zero arch support, narrow in the toe box, and still a bit narrow even at 5E. Felt more like a 4E. I really tried to like these shoes - they looked nice. But they clogged as I walked, and don't expect any lateral grip from the tread that looks like it got cut by the guy who does all the Japanese gravel gardens (no disrespect, Mr. gravel garden man!). New Balance MW847 14-6E: Nice length, Nice width, but not as much of a roll bar as the NB 840v2, so even with Montrail inserts I tended to roll inward. Overall a nice shoe but I needed more rollbar. New Balance MW840v2 14-4E: Nice length, nice width. Lots of roll bar, and as much overall sole cushion as a Brooks Addiction Walker so that was nice. Definitely need inserts on these as they're board flat inside. Adding Montrail inserts made these a keeper. Brooks Addiction 11 14-4E. Length good. Width typical of Brooks 4E (which is probably correct). Very minimal arch support. I put some Montrails in and they were fine. Unlike the Addiction Walker, these grip your feet quite snugly but were not constrictive (this is probably pretty subjective). The blue-tinged shoes have some bright blue in them which is a little more boy racer than I need but it's not a killer. Propet Stability Walker 14-5E. Length was good, but the whole shoe is ramped forward so it feels like you're stepping into a pothole every step you take. Toe box is tight. No way this is a 5E. Tighter than a Brooks 4E. Ironically these shoes look like they should have a lot of arch support, but the sole gets very short up front. If you're coming from high heels, these will feel great, but for a flat-footed man like myself, no way Josie.

Good firm shoe. I tend to wear them out every 3 or 4 months because I walk a lot and am always on my feet. Never can find an A width (extra narrow) in 12.5 size though.

This was a fair replacement to my beloved New Balance 1123s. Though not the same, these are crafted in the USA and are pretty sturdy as compared the the ones rolled out by New Balance to replace the 1123s. I do not like that they are higher (make you feel high off the floor). But for the price, its a reasonable 6e. I would give it 3 stars, but I enjoys Zappos and their speedy service.

This is a cheaply made shoe. As an advertised walking shoe there is little upper support. After a 4 mile walk my feet are agonizingly sore. the lace hole are frayed. The tongue is so short it barely allows space for the laces. Never again New Balance,

These have to be the worst New Balance shoes that I have ever bought! Over the years it seems that the quality of the New Balance shoes is declining. Even if I can find the same style/model shoe (if it has not been replaced with something better), they are not of the same quality of the previous pair. It is a shame. I thought that I had found my forever brand. I am a big lady and work on my feet all day. It used to be that I could depend on New Balance. Not so much any more. These shoes felt hard and boxy, without much cushioning. I had to put an insert in to prevent foot pain. I switch them out with another pair for work and they still wore out in less than three months. The shoes are pulling away from the sole. It used to be that I could wear them for close to a year. I am disappointed.
