I wear my Sperry boat shoes all day, every day. I purchased this pair as the Gold Cup Ultra is no longer available and I thought this shoe might be an acceptable replacement. It's not. I've spent 2 weeks breaking in the shoes and they're still too tight in the width and length, and just as importantly, after spending a day in them my feet ache. The soles do not have the cushion the Ultra's did, nor the overall comfort. I will continue to search for a replacement for the AO Gold Cup Ultra, but if I can't find a suitable replacement, this is likely to be my last Sperry product.

NOT worth the extra money. I bought these and the traditional ones. I am returning these and keeping the traditional ones. The fit on these seemed better, but the soft leather would be more appropriate for a jacket than a shoe. The only visible difference was the gold eyelets.

Nice looking shoe, but much narrower than it is supposed to be based on the width, W equals EE width, which it is not....could not be my foot into the shoe....

Yes the most comfortable Sperrys made, however, the quality control is lacking. 1st pair returned due to manufacturing defect. 2nd pair returned due to incorrect shoe width. Shoe said 9.5M but, it was more like a narrow B size. I've been wearing Sperrys for over 40 years and I notice a lot of inconsistencies in their manufacturing. Oh well, life is good!

Bought a pair of Navy Blue shoes last year. Whenever they got wet the blue dye discolored my feet in a major way! Am wondering how a "boat shoe" could bleed dye upon getting wet!

Bought this pair of shoes May 25. By 4th wearing both inner soles had rolled and made the shoes uncomfortable. Less than 12 hours total wear on flat, indoor surfaces. Too much to pay if have to replace inner soles this soon. Have been out of country and initial return date has passed.

I'm very disappointed in my recent purchase! This is my third pair of Gold Cups and they are absolutely the most comfortable shoes. The problem I have is the metal eyelets have popped out where the lace goes around below the ankle etc. This is the second pair this has happened to and I would not recommend buying this shoe until Sperry resolves this problem. I have four eyelets that have popped out and these shoes are six weeks old. Two eyelets on the right and two on the left shoe. Very disappointing for what was once a high quality shoe!!!

The insole curls up and becomes very uncomfortable to wear. The short insole is unique to the gold cup version. Normal sperrys are full insole.

Stitching on side of shoe blew out after wearing about six times. Sperry promptly addressed the problem to my satisfaction.

I bought the tan variant and fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on. It was a nice soft leather and beautiful. I was excited to wear them to my museum outing the next day. I returned with a huge pain in my left heal that felt like I was stepping on a pressure point all day. I discovered that the left heal felt much more empty compared to the right heal. I figured it must be just this one shoe. I ordered another tan and a navy pair because I had high hopes in them being fine. I was sad to report that they also had the issue with the left heal! I currently have an open defective merchandise order with the company and had to return the other 2 new pairs.

I ordered the wide fit and unfortunately it turned out to be a very narrow fit even do the shoe was marked as a wide fit. I was very disappointed and had to send the shoes back. What a waste of time.
It looks like the quality control is not existing anymore

Poor construction. Leather liner is curing up
on both right and left shoes. Ordered a wide width but very narrow; either mis marked or does not size like my last pair of gold cups

I ordered the new style with the laces inside, but I received the old style with laces out. Have to tie them all the time. I was leaving right away on a trip so I couldn't exchange them.

No structure. Maybe good for boats but not for everyday use. I gave the shoes to a thrift shop.

I needed to replace a year old Gold Cup ASV boat shoe for cosmetic reasons and ordered the exact same size in the non ASV version which was only one I could locate in my size. I was shocked when I opened the package and actually tried them on. My old Gold Cups are incredibly comfortable, as were the ones before that, and the new ones are essentially unwearable. There is a piece of leather inside that narrows the shoe near the tongue. They feel like a narrow rather than a wide width. What did your vendor do to ruin my favorite shoe?

Over the years I have purchased and worn many sperrys for nearly every occasion. They were well made and lasted. Not so much anymore. Their top of the line gold cup now has a glued half insole that starts to peel and roll up everytime you pull your foot out. Now that they have put this on their gold cups I have stopped buying Sperrys all together, especially for the price they are asking.

Although very comfortable the picture is shown with a cross lace and that is not how they ship. These are full lace shoes that need to be tied and is deceptive to show them otherwise.

I love sperry. Probably had over a dozen pairs. Gold cups disappoint for being twice the price. Sure they have an extra cushion but that creates a seam across the middle of the shoe right behind the ball of the foot that is agitated. It makes it uncomfortable to walk. I just sent a request to support, let's see if this is normal amd how they handle it. Otherwise I'll go back to the classics at the regular price. Thanks!
This is a pair I've worn about six times, bought for the return to the office.

I have owned Gold Cup Sperry's for many years but the recent gold cup boat shoe was very uncomfortable and did not breathe. My past pairs were the most comfortable shoes ever but seems like something changed in either the manufacturing process or the materials. Too bad, it was a great shoe.

I have been buying Sperry boat shoes for about 15 years, and have been buying this Gold Cup model for about 5 years after there was a decline in the quality of the leather used for the "base" model shoes. The pair of Gold Cup shoes I bought about a year ago did not break-in or wear as well as previous pairs I have owned and within a year of what I would call "normal seasonal wear" the upper began to separate from the lower part of the shoe. I then purchased a brand new pair which I received about a month ago. Within 2-3 weeks of pretty light wear a strip of the "sole border" de-laminated from the rest of the sole and I could already see signs that he upper was beginning to separate from the sole of the shoe. Unfortunately Sperry shoes seem to be declining in quality over the years and I'll most likely be moving to another brand.
