Love the look, love the feel, but if you wear them without socks, be prepared for the liner inside to start peeling up and irritating your foot. You can try to glue it down or add some felt, but then you lose the lambskin feeling on your foot.

The shoe sole provides no support for walking. If you're not walking they're fine.

I bought these in tan but I am returning them because the picture suggests these shoes are a dark tan and the actual color is much lighter than the picture and they are very snug. But I can say the footbed seems very comfortable for the brief time I tried them on.

My husband has liked the Gold cups in the past and felt that the extra cost was well worth it. Here, unfortunately, he did not feel that way. He did not like the look of this upper, but more importantly, the support was not there. He felt like his arches were caving in. He also did not like the sole. We ended up going back to the traditional and he was much happier.

Shoes seemed way too narrow. I have purchased the same shoe in a different color and didn't have this problem before.

I initially purchased these on the suggestion from a friend who swore up and down that these were so much better than the originals. I ordered the same size that I've worn for years in these shoes and that's an 8. When I received them I noticed that they are much much tighter than the original sperry shoes however when I order a new pair of sperrys they have to go through a break in period in order to conform to your foot. After wearing them for over a week now I can tell you that these shoes are indeed much smaller and kill your feet the first week you wear them. They've gotten better with wear as I refused to quit wearing them since they were so expensive but they still are smaller than the originals. I would highly suggest getting a half size up. I would have returned these had I not worn them barefoot thinking they would eventually fully break in like the originals. They are much softer though I will admit.

Previous Sperry Top-Sider shoes purchased were 10.5. This model didn't fit and ordered the 11. It didn't fit either. Now ordering the 11.5. Width is fine. Largest shoe I have ever ordered. Don't know why these are running so small. Recommend ordering a full size larger. BTW, all dress and casual shoes I have purchased in the past 5 years have been 10.5.

I was a little bit disappointed with the pair that was shipped to me. The box was all torn up and the shoe itself looked as if it had been previously returned by someone else. Considering the amount that I paid, I felt it was a rip-off. I think it's not worth it buying from the website. Better to go to the store.

I have two pair of previous Gold Cup Sperrys, which I dearly loved.....this edition doesn't deserve the same name. It's completely difference, and every change has been for the worse. Briefly; no mud sole, inadequate bottom (heel) cushioning, terrible leather - thin and unsupportive, and finally the laces are too soft and fuzzy and seem like they'll break at any moment.

After wearing them once for may be an hour, the insoles started to pull up. Don't know if this is typical for Sperrys. I purchased gold cups because they are better quality and more comfortable. This didn't happen with my last pair.

I am very disappointed in the way this paticular shoe is made. The inner lambskin sole is not glued down properly and it balls up and makes my foot sore.

The shoes were shipped quickly by Zappos. They were very comfortable at 1st, however there is a seam inside the shoe right below the ball of your foot that curled up after a month or 2 that was bothersome. Now, 7 months in, the front of the shoe is coming apart. Definitely not worth the money........

They fit and feel great, but after wearing them 2 times the sole inside the shoe is already coming apart which makes the shoes unwearable due to being insanely uncomfortable. It makes it feel like there are rocks in your shoe but it is the leather insert coming up near the inside toes. I had a pair previously this happened to after 3 years of wearing but did not think it would happen with 2 times of wearing the new ones. The quality has either gone completely down hill or this pair is defective. I am hoping it is defective cause if not i would recommend looking at a different company for shoes like this.

I purchased two pairs of these Gold Cup boat shoes. They are super comfortable right out of the box.
Look great feel great, except for a 6'2" 207lb male, they don't really provide much stability or support.
But the main flaw of these expensive boat shoes is that after several months of daily wear, the footbed liner becomes unglued and
starts to deteriate. Not what I expected from Sperry.

I loved these at first. But after wearing them a few times the padded heel insert is coming loose. It only covers half of the insole, and the thin edge under my arch was not glued well and has started rolling up. It always feels like something has gotten in my shoe. Will probably just tear out that insert and buy a better complete insole. I'm thinking I could've spent much less and done better.

I'm surprised how narrow the "wide" fit is. Also the inserts are a disaster if you don't wear socks. Two days of wear already has them falling apart.
Disappointed,

I love Sperry, have worn top siders for years. Sadly, these Gold Cup shoes have a design flaw. I bought a pair of these in-store, and after ONE day of use, the top layer insole began to peel up. The insole does not run the whole length of the shoe, and is glued down in a thin layer near the ball of the foot. I returned them and bought another pair online. These began to peel up after ONE HOUR of wearing them. See photos. Too bad, because these are otherwise very comfortable and premium feeling shoes.

I have multiple pairs of "regular" top-siders, but these were my first Gold Cups. I'm always a 10, but these were noticeably smaller. I'm going to go up to 10.5 and see how that works. Also, I prefer the cross-lacing (no-lacing) style, but I received the lacing version. I'm not sure if that was a mix-up or that the website doesn't match the product. I've returned and I am repurchasing.

Have owned Sperry boat shoes for at least 35 years. Not sure how many pair, finally decided to splurge on the Gold Cup. From the smell alone, knew it was quality leather before even unwrapping the paper. They are beautiful shoes with unbelievably soft leather. The fit is amazing. Instantly regretted not buying these years ago.
While admiring the shoes realized how poorly constructed they were inside. The stitching in the heel cup of one shoe is coming apart and was not sewn together in other parts. Will exchange for a new pair. Hope it was a random bad pair.

I've been buying Sperry for decades and always loved the style and craftsmanship. My last pair purchased looked great, but then I put them on and wore them a while.
The leather insole only makes it halfway and is not glued down at the ball of your foot. The leather bunches up making them uncomfortable.
Took them back where purchased...they basically said tough.

Really disappointed, the glue from the footbed is already separating after a week of use. At this price point I find this completely unacceptable.

I have had at least 15 pairs of Sperry Top Siders over the past several decades, wearing them 95% of the time in the summer and at least 60% of the time in winter. Until very recently these have been excellent boat shoes that served their original purpose well.
When Gold Cup Top Siders appeared, I migrated to them and found them even better -sturdier, better fit and much more comfortable for daily use.
After using the Gold Cups since they became available, I mistakenly ordered on line a pair of Sperry Authentic Original Top Siders, thinking that they would be at least as good as the original Top Siders I used for many years. They were not, and I went back to Gold Cups.
Most recently, with my Gold Cups wearing out, I ordered a new pair of Top Siders from your catalog that were clearly described as "Gold Cup" and not "Authentic Original Gold Cup".
What arrived in a box labeled "Gold Cup" on its cover was a pair of Top Siders that were more "Authentic Original" than "Gold Cup", in spite of having "Gold Cop" embossed on the lining inside. They are only partly lined, the leather upper is thinner, the heel cup is not as strong, the sole is stiped rather than the stronger non-stiped sole of my older Gold Cup.
Overall, this is a Top Sider that seems to have become more of a moccasin for more casual use than a true boat shoe. I only hope that when the three Top Siders I have in my closet completely wear out, I will be able to find suitable replacements.

What have you done? I have worn Sperry Original for 40 years and in recent years added some Gold Cup to my collection. Always very happy until now. Your latest iteration of the Gold cup is a glorified version of the Original. Gone is the soft smooth leather and the fit on my right as good as usual, the left, I could hardly get my foot in. Why tinker with such a good shoe. If you have old stock unhand I would love a pair of Gold Cup Original in 12 W. I hope when I am due for a pair of regular Authentic Original they won't have been changed too.
