These still feel 'stiff' but, from past experience, they will get more comfortable. Theses are really good looking boat shoes...I wear them to work almost everyday and they look 'dressy' enough!

I purchased the Sperry Gold Cup in black/amaretto for my son. When we received the shoe, we thought we had received the wrong item because the shoe looks like it is all black. You have to look really close to see the amaretto detail. The photo on the web site shows to very distinct colors, black and amaretto but in person the shoe really looks all black. It is still a very nice shoe but don't expect the color distinction as shown in the photo. Overall, this is a very nice shoe and the gold detail of the eyelets against the black leather really makes this shoe stand out. They are a unique and expensive looking shoe (and for the price, they should be!)

After my A/O Original's died after 10 years, I upgraded to the Gold Cup series. These are nicer overall, super soft leather inside lining. The leather is softer and more matte than my previous A/Os. Sole and built quality are the same standard. The insole is a tad more cushioned. I was hoping the insole was removable but is is not, it is glued and only goes just passed the arch. I have a high arch and the support is the same as the standard A/Os but with the more cushioned sole my feet do not hurt. As they age, I will remove the original insole and install a better one with better arch support. I still don't think that the $70 difference vs. the regular A/Os is fair...

First impression was that the width was a little narrow; but after just a couple of wearings, the shoe is already beginning to adjust itself to my feet. The buttery-soft leather is a major contributor to my confidence that these will end up being very comfortable shoes. I intend to wear them without socks. Seem to be extremely well made. I don't agree with another reviewer's comments about lack of breathability. Also don't agree that you should buy them smaller than normal, especially if you plan on wearing them with socks.

Excellent quality. Definitely worth the extra money over regular Top Siders. The leather inside and out is extremely soft. Much more comfortable than than the less expensive Top Siders. A little more difficult to slip on which I think is in part due to the different leathers used in this shoe.

These are higher quality than the regular "authentic" Top-Siders. They have a double cushioned sole, softer and more substantial lining, better/more stitching, gold rather than black eyelets. Are they worth $60 dollars more? I'm on the fence.

If you're on the fence about switching to the gold from the standard don't think twice. These are way more comfortable out of the box. I had a standard pair for about 2 years that had seen better days and were pretty comfortable, except if you were walking any long distances. Out of the box that isn't a problem with the gold version. Better materials, better footbed, better comfort, same style, it seems well worth the premium.

Very stylish and comfortable

A little snug on width. Usually wear a reg, and probably needed a wide here. But they are incredibly comfortable and look great.

Classic style, never fades. Originally bought a 10 (used the size calculator comparing Brooks athletic shoes) but needed a 9.5. As usual, Zappos made the exchange effortless. Perfect for casual look at the office when you do not want to wear sneakers.

The construction of the Sperry Gold is top notch - clearly several cuts above the standard Authentic Originals (I've heard the Gold's compared to the construction quality of vintage Sperry's). I wear a men's 10 standard width in most brands, but found that these were quite snug both lengthwise and width-wise right out of the box. I've been breaking them in wearing the ultra-thin Sperry Skimmer socks - and I would highly recommend doing so. I think these would definitely induce some blisters if you were to try and break them in without socks.

Fabulous fit and feel right out of the box. Leather is very soft - no need to break in. Excellent old school style. Two tone easy to pair with belts.

Excellent fit and comfort right out of the box. Replaced a pair of Allen Edmonds topsiders that still wouldn't break in even after three years of use. The Gold Cup Sperrys are incredibly soft with a very good cushion insole. The leather is a bit thin compared to the Allen Edmonds so hopefully they'll hold up as well as AE does, as they're not much cheaper.
