Love everything about all North Face products. And I shouldn't have to sit here and write an essay about my bag that I had ordered from the North Face website. Everything is great but you guys should make laptop cases and ones that are compatible with 17" laptops.

I bought this exact backpack like ten years ago. It was just the right size, protected my tech and was very durable. So when my four year old son threw up all over my backpack on our last international flight, it was time to get a new backpack. It was a no brainer, I jumped on North Face's website and bought the exact same style, but the upgrades are great. The tablet pocket is perfect and genius. The zipper in the front pouch keeps me much more organized as well. Love the backpack. Well done North Face, yet again!

Great backpack...bought it for my daughter to use for school. It's working well. When we ordered we thought the zipper and handle etc. were red. They are actually a fluorescent pinky/red. Very bright but my daughter likes them! (Thank goodness!)

This is my first backpack and I absolutely LOVE IT! I took it on my last trip so that I could pack items that would not fit into my carry-on bag. It has plenty of room and is just the right size for my height of 5'2". Not too big or cumbersome and it holds a lot of items! I definitely recommend it.

This back is the most amazing backpack I've ever had! The most recent backpack was one for my boyfriend and is the third one I've brought. I will never buy another kind.

This backpack is comfortable with padded straps that sit just right. And, the fabric looks to be extremely durable. Plenty of compartments but not excessive where things would get lost. It's ideal in every way.

I used it as a pack for school as well. there are still no holes or tears. the durability is incredible and it is decently priced. I would highly recommend this pack to anyone.

Got the Recon backpack as a Hanukah gift. It's very comfortable to carry. Has lots of useful pockets both outside and inside. It's very durable. I use it for school and as a weekend bag.

I've had this backpack for over 10 years and it amazes me that it still doesn't show any kind of wear. I use it as my carry on every time I fly, I take it on day hikes in the mountains to carry lunch and extra clothes, plus water bottles and emergency gear. I use it snow skiing to carry extra layers, goggles, sunscreen, water, snacks, boots, and head gear. It's extremely versatile and as I said, it will last your forever. Mine still looks awesome, no fraying threads or ripping fabric anywhere, even at the points where you would expect it like where the shoulder straps are sewn to the top of the bag, and I have carried very heavy loads, especially as a carry on when I fly (heavy laptop + power supply, hardback books, snacks, toiletry kit, etc etc). I will always buy North Face after seeing how durable these backpacks are. I'm very impressed.

Everything that I expected! Looks small but holds so much and doesn't become bulky when full, which is my favorite part. Also feels great on my back. I can't even feel all the weight that on my back. Definitely recommended!

I was a Recon evangelist having taken this backpack as my only form of luggage across the country, to Europe and South America. It was one of the most bombproof pieces of gear I had ever owned. Recently it was stolen from my vehicle and I ordered a new one with much excitement and anticipation. When it arrived I compared it to my sisters who had the same one I used to. This is where disappointed set in strong. No more drawstring side pocket, no more straps on the bottom to hold jackets or sleeping pads, no more zipper pocket on the inside of the big pocket, the laptop sleeve is not even across the top making it hard to get contents out if you??re not reaching in from the right direction, no more plastic d-rings or knife pocket on the front straps, the front stow pocket??s buckle is now affixed to the front of the backpack reducing capacity and making it harder to buckle. The only change that I see as an improvement is a zippered pocket in the second largest compartment. I immediately searched Recons on eBay and other sites to try and find one like I had bought years ago and it looks as if these changes have been gradual as there are many models between my original and the current, however it seems as though each version has become cheaper and has sacrificed the exact reasons, as small as they may be, that the Recon 5 years ago was a bombproof piece of outdoor or traveling gear that had huge value. I can only hope that this helps to generate discussions to build a better pack like before. Unfortunately, anyone that has bought this pack in the past few years doesn??t know what he or she is missing. If these changes were to be fixed I would certainly become an evangelist again, until then I will remain disappointed and return my new Recon.

Bought the Summit Gold Ripstop backpack as a everyday bag, diaper bag, and for day hiking. After using a Swiss Gear Ibex Backpack and recently selling to buy a NF backpack i'm glad I did but mad I didn't sooner this north face backpack is far more comfortable to wear than my Swiss Gear was and lighter also. The size is alittle smaller but that's what I wanted due to not carrying my laptop so much anymore. Overall the appearance is nice, love the chest and waist straps and the mesh pockets for water bottles and the other one to put whatever you need on the spot in. And the little whistle built into the shoulder clasp is a nice touch. North Face 1 Swiss Gear 0

My daughter is a freshman in high school and carries all her books home from school. The backpack is very good quality. She has a shoulder injury and we find that the bag distributes the weight evenly. The lower strap goes around the waist to balance the weight. This bag should last for several years. The pockets are deep and the color great.
I'd also recommend:
