I tried these on as soon as I got them. Right off the bat I noticed that they creased against my toes every time I took a step. They felt great when I was standing still. But since I bought them for walking and hiking, that won't really work for me. They did feel true to size. But they were uncomfortable to walk in.

I purchased these hikers at a Wisconsin Columbia outlet store about 10 years ago. They are finally wearing down and I plan to order the exact same boot. These boots have been wonderful. They have held up in a variety of climbing/hiking terrains. The Grand Canyon in Jan. down to Phantom Ranch and back up. The Yosemite Mining Camp hike for a week. Zion/Bryce/Canyon of the Ancients, and weekly hikes around the mountains near Santa Fe, NM. The traction on rocky/stones/fine sand terrain has saved me multiple times. My husband has purchased three pair of "expensive" hiking boots in five years, and I have continued to wear my Columbia $80 boots the entire time. I have weak ankles and these boots provide stability, they are sturdy and flexible at the same time.

My husband bought me these boots for Thanksgiving and upon first try they felt a bit too big and roomy in the toe area. Felt like they would crease there overtime. he got me my size 9.5 . I didnt like it initially much although they did make my feet look smaller but didn’t want to hurt his feelings so kept it and wore it. And 6 month after i can say that this shoe is probably the only thing i wore over rhe winter, fall and rainy spring. Its super comfortable, keeps the foot dry. In winter i just added extra pair of socks. Whats the best it has great cushioning on the heel especially. I carry very heavy bag (laptop, lunch and all) and am about 165lbs and often run for the train as i am last minute, and with all that weight running never made my feet, shins back or anything ache. These are probably the most surprisingly great shoes i had. As June is coming now i am looking to buy summer version with the same sole. This is how it looks after 6 months of heavy wear. Minimal toe crease. Love the shoe!

I wear a size 9 in athletic shoes, but based on reviews I ordered a 9.5 instead. It was too big; I had to exchange it for a 9. If you already size up for athletic shoes (as opposed to flats, etc.), just go with your normal size. These are really quite light compared to similar options in other brands. I did feel a bit of the upper pressing down on the top of my toes, but it was much worse in the 9.5 when my foot wasn't properly placed inside the shoe in relation to the flex point. I don't think I'll notice it out on a hike in a 9. It's hard to find a lightweight, simple brown hiking shoe for women. So many options are dotted with purple or something; I'm glad to find a basic, lightweight, brown, waterproof hiking shoe. In addition to using it for fall through spring hiking, I plan to take these to Ireland in a few months. I think they'll do great there. I will say these feel kind of cheap. Maybe it's the lightness that makes me say that, and knowing these are less expensive than some hiking boots. I don't think they'll suffer in quality, though, and I feel happy with the purchase.

This hiking boot would be great for cool weather hikes, however, I bought these for a month-long backpacking trip to Thailand. I tried these on at home and left them on for about 10 minutes and noticed my feet were already getting really hot. These are not for warm weather hikes at all. returning for this reason. Otherwise a great hiking boot

These are narrow! I have narrow feet and they still rubbed on both sides of these boots. I usually wear a size 8 and the length seemed fine. Not sure going up to an 8.5 will correct the width issue. I did notice the bending over the toes that others have commented on. It wasn't horrible but I had to wonder how annoying it would be while I was out hiking. These were comfortable around my ankles which is hard to find in a tall hiking boot. They are super cute, unfortunately I had to return them.

Good weather protection; strange fit - as others have noted, there is a definitely a strange crease that forms (mine didn't until after a few wears). They take some effort to make very snug and the crease has gone from a slight annoyance to actual pain when walking. They have stood up to some rain and snow so perhaps they will suffice for dog walking but not for outdoor hiking or activities.

I first bought this boot in brown about 6 years ago and still wear them. Since then I've bought two more pairs (gray and black). All three pairs are still going strong! They're comfortable, like a gym shoe, and definitely waterproof. I walk my dog everyday through Chicago winter snow, ice and rain. My feet are the only thing dry! After my second purchased pair, 3 of my friends bought the same boot and love them just as much. I hope these never go away.

These boots are lightweight, not bulky, waterproof, and provide needed foot/ankle support when hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I have arthritis in my feet, and yet I can still hike 5+ miles in these boots. Highly recommend and will be buying a third pair next year.

These hiking boots were perfect in every way--has a feminine look to them, great color, comfortable, stiff sole and tactile. The only problem is that the box folded in when taking a step, cutting into the top of the foot at the base of the toes. So sad. I loved them and am sad to return.

Very happy with my purchase. I've worn them about 5 times with no issue. Worn with wool socks for really cold weather, regular athletic socks and kept my feet warm.

Excellent through heat & rain. Hugged the terrain. So much better than a sneaker. I thought the rigid ankle support would bother me, NOT. I have flat feet & these supported them without inserts. I didn't break them in prior to our ZionNP & Bryce Canyon trip & thank goodness they were so comfy from the get go I could wear them throughout the day. I purchased 1/2 size larger because of adding hiking socks & for expansion of feet through the day. I originally wanted blue but then decided brown it would hide the dirt better.

After wearing for about 2 months (no hiking, only walking on concrete), some of the outer waterproof layer is shredding off the shoe. I will continue wearing it because the hole does not go all the way through, but it doesn't look as nice with the shreds.

These boots were amazing and so cute and I didn't need to break them in! I first wore them to go on a 7 mile hike and they were a dream. Very stable shoe, comfortable, and good quality! I bought half size up thinking I'll need the extra room but didn't have to. I wear thick socks so I kept them and walked just fine.

Love these Columbia boots. These are my sixth boot, started with the black and have gotten different colors as they go on sale. I have arthritis in my feet and a bone growth on my large toe joint. These boots give excellent support and have a good toe box. I normally wear 8- 8.5. I have the 8.5 and they are perfect. Had been waiting for the dove gray and snatched them when they went on sale. Color is really sharp. Wear these everywhere, highly recommend.

I didn't notice the creasing across the toes. My problem was that my heels were moving around way too much. Could I have solved that with thicker socks and moleskin? Maybe, but it was easier to try a different style. The other boots I got, also made by Columbia, were much too small, even though I got the same size (6.5) for both. I had to return both and go with another brand (Keen).

This is when I get really disappointed about sizing in general. Why are there no size 11.5? The size 11 are way too small and the size 12 are huge! the boots are cute and probably would be comfortable if the sizing was right.

I wore these hiking and didn't even have to break them in. They were super comfortable from the first time I wore them. I wore them with wool socks in colder weather and kept my feet very warm and waterproof.

Very comfortable! I have plantar fasciitis so needed the support or my own orthotics, but these are roomy and comfortable and my feet don’t ache after long hikes.

These boots are incredibly comfortable and well made, I love them. I have had several bone fusions and am not sure if I can wear them but I thought they felt great and I really like them.

These fit well but were hard to lace to get them tight enough and, as in a prior review, they creased at the toe, on top. I'm returning these.

These fit well, and are generally comfortable. They do become less comfortable the longer I wear them. There is a noticeable creasing along the toe box that doesn't feel great after about 90 minutes of wearing them while hiking on uneven terrain. They did keep my feet warm, toasty, and dry.

Wore this boot on a long hike (10+ miles). The boot was very comfortable at first. Towards the second half of the hike I began to get a blister where the boot broke across my toes. Maybe thicker socks will prevent this on the next hike.

Like others, had terrible time with crease on toe box. Tried to break in but after 2 hikes with mangled toes, eventually decided it was a design flaw. Also, not for wide feet. They don't feel incredibly solid either, in fact I don't think they are real leather!. They do look good.

I am so bummed I had to return these boots. The other reviewers are right; there is a major design flaw in the toe portion of these boots. I only walked to the next room and the pain on my toes was unbearable. Otherwise, the boots are very pretty and light. I look forward to an improved design from Columbia.
