I've bought 2-3 pairs of Ginger Flip Flops every year for the past five years, so imagine my surprise when I went to my local shoe store, grabbed my usual sz 8 and tried them on. Totally different shoe!! Reef must have changed manufacturer because this shoe feels and looks very different. It looks and feels cheap. I loved the Ginger because it had a nice arch support and the straps wrapped around the top of my foot. For a flip flop, the support was very good. This shoe had none of those qualities. I was very disappointed and obviously didn't buy. Why did you have to go and ruin a good thing, Reef? I loved you!

These have been my go to flip flops for years. They have apparently changed manufacturers, and the sizing has changed. The length of the shoe is fine, but it is a lot more narrow. The straps are so tight they are uncomfortable. If I go a size up, the shoe is too long for my feet. I'm sad to say I have to find a new brand to wear.

I was so disappointed to find that a new pair of my favorite shoes no long resemble the old ones that I've been wearing for over 20 years. During that time I've had about 4 pairs. They were the most comfortable go-to shoe for my Florida lifestyle, and I would wear them until a hole was in the bottom. I expected the same quality. These were stiff, tight, and about one half inch shorter than my old pair. I returned them and will begin searching for a new brand ( trying on in the store) to replace my favorite shoe. So sad. I'm sure Reef found someone to make them cheaper and, in the end, sacrificed quality for their bottom line. The new way of the world.

Having been the happy owner of over a dozen of your original Reef Gingers in various colors (all were lost in the Thomas Fire) I was disappointed to see how few color choices were available. Recently I saw a few new colors crop up and ordered the blush/ black pair. I've always worn the same size 8 but the pair I received was far smaller than the original 8's with my heal hanging over the back side. Straps were also too tight and the thong oart between the toes is placed slightly back on the sole further affecting the original fit. It's apparent that they are being manufactured somewhere else and not in line with the previous specs. I returned them for a size 9. Still slightly too small but don't want to go to a 10 as that would be too large... Very diappointed

I buy a new pair of these every year as they usually fit perfectly! For some reason this years model the stamps are too small and I struggled it even get my foot into them. Not sure what happened this year. Also the sole has a slick bottom, less traction. Go back to the previous design.

I wish Reef had not changed the treads on their flip flops. I had 2 slip and falls already with the horrible new "tread". Please change it back to the original.

Bought this pair as a replacement as my most favorite pair is on its last legs from frequent wear and tear. Was so disappointed when they came in! Thinner width and much tighter straps - definitely blister material! Either these are not the same type or the design has been altered tremendously. Not good! See my photo below - old pair on the left and replacement on the right. Did I mix up the style? I could have sworn my original pair was a ginger - if I'm wrong, please let me know as I desperately want the same style again.

The Reef Gingers have been my go to sandals for many, many years. I love that I can walk in them for miles and that they are very lightweight. The were so comfortable! However, I just bought two new pairs and I am very disappointed with the new design. First, as others have reported, they are VERY slippery!!!! I afraid I am going to slip and hurt myself. Also, they are heavier which is disappointing because I travel a lot and I always loved that they were easy to throw into my suitcase without too much bulk or weight. Nonetheless I can deal with the extra weight however the slippery sole is a HUGE problem. PLEASE, PLEASE go back to your original ginger design. They were truly my favorite sandal.

I am returning them. The right sandle is a very wide width and does not fit. The left one is fine. I always have bought these and never had this problem before. They must be defective. I would like to exchange them for ones that are both the same size and width.

These are not the old Ginger Reefs! The last pair I purchased was approximately 12-15 years ago. Like other reviews noted for this newer version on this site or others, Reef changed them. The soles are thicker. I don't care for that. Part of what I liked about the old Gingers was that the sole was thin enough to not be a bulky flip flop, but just thick enough to not be uncomfortable. The old version was more streamlined. As other reviews noted, my old Ginger size was a 6, but had to get these new versions in a 7. They fit, but barely. So sizing changed, too. REEF, please bring back the old Ginger styling, or I'm officially on the hunt for a new brand!

I am so mad I didnt read the reviews before purchasing. Both reviews are on point! I owned a pair of Reef ginger for years. Awesome pair, best flip flops Ive ever had. Bought these to replace them but they are not the same shoe. Not only are they significantly smaller (for a second I thought they had sent a child's size!) but they look clunkier and flatter. The cool thing about the older ones were how light they were and how they seemed to ‘hug’ your feet.

I have a 10yr old pair of Reef sandals and I love them! So, I decided to get another pair. I wear a size 5.5 shoe. I purchased a size 6.5 and I could not get my foot into it. The sole of the sandals are extremely stiff, no movement. I returned the sandals, received my refund. I was going to re order but after reading the comments about the same problem that I had. When you make them like they used to I will purchase one again.

Bought these sandals in May, 2019. The toe strap separated from the base September 16, 2019. So they didn't even last four months. I had to print and fill out a Warranty Form, scan it and my receipt back into the computer, photograph the tops, bottoms, and defective area and send all in an email to them. Lotsa hoops to jump through. The website says it can take 6-8 weeks for a replacement. By then, warm weather will be over and winter setting in. The sandals are very comfortable but I guess it is time to start looking for something else. I'm very picky about shoes and sandals so I have nothing to finish the summer with. Very disappointed.

I am a size 38.5 so I usually order a size 9 for shoes like this. I had a previous pair of Reefs size 9, which were perfect. I ordered the 9 Ginger and they were too small. My heel just reached the back of the footbed. I spoke with Reef's customer service, who told me that Reef is using a different manufacturer and sizes were slightly varied. She suggested a size 10, which I ordered. They were too big. While I wasn't expecting an exact fit for a flip flop, the size 10 was about an inch too long in the toe area. And when I lifted my foot, because they were slightly too long and too loose, the weight of the flip flop was present.... Not like a light flip flop feel. The bottom side of the sandal is also different. Perhaps their size options fits someone else's feet.

I grew up in FL and have been wearing Reefs for almost 18 years and have multiple pairs- in fact the pair I am trying to replace is 15+ years old and I've finally worn the tread down enough that I have to buy new ones despite the fact that they are still comfortable- so I've been a loyal Reef customer for a long time! That being said, I am disappointed in this Ginger style that I just ordered. I ordered a size up from my normal based on reviews and they are still almost too small, plus the straps are tight and hit in a weird spot on my foot and the flip flop also seems very narrow compared to the others I've owned. The tread on the bottom is also slippery. They look odd on my feet and aren't comfortable so I am sending them back. I've ordered a different style in hopes that they will be better and that I don't have to move onto a different brand after all these years!

I bought an 8, because I wear a 7 1/2, but the straps are too tight and I could never wear them comfortably. I had to give them away.

I had to return. I wear a size 8 in all shoes, some times a 7.5; however these were too small. I wish they had half sizes. I'm afraid the 9's will be too big, but I'm going to order them anyway to see.

I loved my old reefs with arch support, size 9 always fit perfectly. I've now tried three different reefs in that size and they were all about an inch shorter than my old reefs when I held them up back to back. The new ones had to be returned, my heel was just too close to the edge, not comfortable at all. I'll be shopping for a new brand. Why on earth would you shorten the size of flip flops?

I have worn Reef Ginger flip flops for over 20 years. They have always been my go-to. No other sandals compared in comfort and I never even considered buying anything else. Why after 30 years of a perfect shoe would they change the design?! If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Sadly, now it's broke. The sole is too thick and clunky, the straps fit tighter, and they just are no longer comfortable. I don't know what they were thinking but I'm so sad.

So Disappointed. Reef Ginger sandals in black have been my go-to flip flops for over 10 years, but the new design is AWFUL. The soles are much thicker & feel really heavy/clunky on your feet, and the straps are WAY tighter than the old model. They actually cut into my feet slightly (which both looks and feels awful), whereas they never did this before. Plus, the new tread of the shoe is terrible - the bottom is comprised of small lines that have absolutely no traction, to the point of being unsafe (I've slipped several times on smooth tile flooring, which was NEVER a problem with the old grips that had the reef logo on the bottom). All in all, this is so disappointing!! These flip flops used to fit so well & looked really nice on my feet. They could be dressed up or down, and were my favorite, go-to sandal that I wore almost daily. Unfortunately, I can't even wear this new model & will no longer be purchasing them :(

I have been buying Reef Gingers for years - always a size 8 and they have been unbelievably brilliant, supportive and comfy. This time the size 8 was about 1cm shorter so I had to size up to a 9. The size 9 seems much heavier, more rigid and the strap placement doesn't work so well for my feet. Very disappointed and hoping to find last year's stock somewhere...

I wish I would’ve read reviews before ordering these. I, like many others, have worn these flip flops for years. I didn’t think twice to reorder the same exact pair and size this year but was quite shocked to find my foot hanging off the end! I’m in agreement with all of the others - these run at least a size smaller than you’d expect and definitely feel more narrow than ever before. I’m now trying a size up but don’t have high hopes. This is a major fair, Reef.

I am highly disappointed and returning this pair of Ginger sandals. I have owned and loved 8 pairs of Ginger, size 7, over the past 15 years. Every pair fit perfectly except for this new pair. They are shorter, more narrow in the toe area, and the straps are so tight I can't get my foot in them. It's sad that Reef took the perfect fitting, comfortable sandal and turned it into something unwearable.I love the black/blush color and it seems Reef finally fixed the slippery sole issue but now the sizing has changed drastically. Ginger sandals have been my everyday footwear from spring to fall for 15 years. They are the only sandals I ever found that fit my wide foot and had good arch support for my high arches. Reef, please correct the sizing and go back to the way Ginger used to fit.
