Really a great shoe...just doesn't work for me. I have all sorts of foot problems. I need a lower heel than footbed, so for normal feet it would be a great shoe.

Most comfortable shoe I have owned in a long time. It has also worn incredibly well with heavy use: climbing rocks with the kids, walking beaches, trekking Europe as well as normal daily wear. Great shoe!

These boots felt so good on my feet that I considered buying in 2 sizes to accommodate my different size feet. But, even when they felt good, with every step my foot slipped forward and it was toe to tip of shoe. I do wear insoles and have for years, but I have never experienced the forward slippage. Unfortunately, I had to return both sizes because of this. Beautiful, nice fit boot if this doesn't happen to you.

I have trouble with boots as one foot is a different size. Working with different thickness of socks helped, but the moment I begin to walk in these my foot slips forward and toe is to the tip. No amount of tightening or manipulating the strings helped. Otherwise, they really felt good on my feet. It's very frustrating....

Okay, now I know we don’t buy hiking boots/shoes for how they look, but these are butt ugly. Brown on brown on brown. I can’t speak to size and comfort, unfortunately, because, based on another pair of Vasque boots, I bought a larger size than I usually wear. These were WAYYYYY too big as a result. No need to size up on this particular style of Vasques. They have great traction, good arch support and excellent padding. No ankle support, obviously, since they are a shoe, not a boot.

Nice looking shoe but unfortunately the arch in the right shoe was very high. Had to return.

The 7.5 seemed a tad short but the 8.0 were a little wide. Also, like nearly all hiking shoes these days, they were HOT due to all the synthetic material.(Wish someone would make all leather boots...) Otherwise they were comfortable and high quality construction.

The sizing is very odd - one ran large the other small and this doesn't normally happen to me.

Good if you really want them for hikes with a pack.

I have worn Vasque hiking boots for decades. These are very much like my boots (but not available in NARROW!). At this point I want something more comfortable for walks. I will not be carrying a pack and don't need the stiffer sole. I also tried the Vasque Monolith Ultra Dry (mid-height) which I may keep for new hiking boots and get the Ecco Yura for every day.

The toe box is just not as big as I needed. I could see why they would consider this a wide but I need more room in the toe box

Boot is heavier and a bit clunkerier than the previous similar Vasque boot that I have been wearing. Heel flairs out at the back, and I do not like that. It was, however, narrow enough in the heel so that it did not slip on my narrow heels. Fit was good. Will be returned.

This was the hiking shoe that had the qualities that I wanted, but the wide was too narrow for my foot. While it felt quite supportive, I was afraid that it would rub too much on my bunion. I recommend this shoe for anyone looking for a well made, supportive hiking shoe who doesn't require more width. Thanks to Zappos selection and purchase/exchange policies I was able to order 5 shoes all at once in order to select the one with the best fit for my needs.

These are great shoes, but the padding around the ankle is thin, rough and cut into my ankle. I guess I am picky when it comes to comfort.

I have had three, and now four, pairs of the Vasque Mantra. The redesigned fourth pair is sized differently. It is larger overall and the toe box is roomier. I wish I had ordered a half size smaller. I can wear these, but only with a heavy wool sock. I wish I had returned them, but was so sure, based on previous experience, that they would fit, I put them on and rocked on with my day. Learn from my experience! Try them on and walk around in the house longer than two minutes to make sure the size is right.

I have W feet and had high hopes for these after trying on a regular width in my size at a local sporting goods/outdoor gear store that doesn't stock W widths. Sadly the W I ordered here was almost no different than the normal width. It pinches my feet across the base of the toes too much to wear. The support and weight seemed good, but without the fit I won't know for sure.

Overall these are nice low cut boots. I got them to do moderate trail hiking. Before you buy them know they run large. I wear a 9.5 and had to return them for a 9. Once you get the right size they do feel good on. The reason for 4 stars is the large fit.

I'm looking for a comfortable shoe with a foot bed that isn't too flexible. This one is so rigid that my feet slide up and down at the heel. In addition to that, the coarse fabric liner is a recipe for trouble because it scrapes my toes and the tops of my feet as well as my heels. I don't know what the manufacturer was thinking.

I was really surprised that these don't have a gusseted tongue to keep out debris. The Mantra 2.0 GTX does have that feature. For some reason, both versions of the Mantra make my feet look really long! I like another Vasque style better.

The boots are very comfortable. But rathe than the dark brown boots pictured, the boots I received were a taupe/sandy color, hence the one star for style. I didn’t want to hassle with returning the boots since they fit well and I needed them right away, but the quality control was disappointing.

I wanted to like these Vasque Mantra, but they were just too wide for my narrow foot. The shoe itself is great and had wonderful support and plenty of room in the toe box. However, the laces are really cheap so if you buy these, get better replacement laces right away. There would be room to put orthotics in them if you use those. These are heavy duty and will take some serious hiking over just about any terrain. I am sorry I had to send them back because I can usually wear Vasque.

These were the most comfortable hiking shoe ever while I was sitting down. There is an inside seam with an open edge that rubbed my bunion so these had to go back. Everything else about the shoe felt great.

I'm on a quest to find hiking shoes for my hard-to-fit feet. There aren't a ton of options for people needing a wide shoe. I don't even think I have wide feet but with a morton's neuroma I need a roomy toebox. I had high hopes for these after reading other reviews but although marked wide these are very narrow. I ordered the 8.5M and 8.5W and there is barely a difference - in fact the removable insoles are identical - I would think a wide shoe would have a slightly wider insole. Both versions seem narrow. Even if someone has has medium feet I would think this wide shoe might feel narrow. One other thing I noticed, maybe it's nitpicking or it would soften in time, but the tongue is a length that pokes directly into my ankle and is pretty uncomfortable. I'm comparing them to a pair of Oboz hiking shoes I also ordered and that tongue is long enough to curve up a little so it's not poking my ankle. Maybe it's just me! Other than that they're nicely made and not unattractive. They feel fairly cushiony. I'm bummed. Running out of options :(

Loved these shoes, looked great, fit great EXCEPT, the tongue cut into the front of my ankle. Why is it so short? No idea if this will wear in, and since the most important part of these shoes is comfort, back they went. I'm a slim, 53 year old, my ankles are not big, btw.
