I had three pairs of the 927s and loved them then I got a pair of 928s my feet killed me for three weeks. I work outside and do a lot of walking in all kinds of weather, so the fact that they are waterproof really came in handy. I finally got them broken in but this is definitely my last pair of these.

These are comfortable, ugly, and poorly made. The leather started to break away from the soles on both shoes after about 6 weeks, and has only gotten worse. From now on, I do not buy any shoes that do not have stitch down construction.

Wow, but someone's sizing is off! I've ordered 11 6E before in this brand with no problem, for my autistic son. But these are narrow. Like regular width. Maybe a 2E, tops 3E.

The New Balance 929 series is the WORST I've ever purchased. After wearing them less than a month the front tip of the sole has delaminated on the right shoe, one of the eyelets (something new in this series) came loose and the shoe is not near as comfortable as in the past. I've been purchasing this particular New Balance model for 12 years starting with (I think) early 920 series. I was going to send them back but I threw away all my paper work. I m not sure what has happened to New Balance. They used to make quality shoes (especially at this price) but the quality has deteriorated. I will be looking for another brand shoe and avoid this series unless they get them back to their former quality.

Wow, not even close to the 927s. I have bought at least 20 pairs. 928 is cheaply made and doesn't come close with the support well on to another brand. NB has been a great shoe but drop the bomb on this one.

I regularly order New Balance as they are one of the few companies to sell shoes in my size (6E Wide). I was previously wearing a pair of the 927's which are the previous model of these shoes. I bought these shoes expecting the same comfort, but was sadly dissapointed. the shoe was much tighter in the toe box, and the material that inner liner was made of felt like fiberglass on my feet. I would not recommend this model of shoe.

I've worn 926 and 927s for 7 years. Owned 15 pair. I buy them 4 at a time because I wear them so much. The new 928s looked narrow - I wear 11 1/2 EEEE. These felt like a D width - medium. They came in mesh white which I'd not tried before. I wear the leather - white, black and brown. I sent back mesh today and am going to try 11/12 EEEEEE white leather. I hope they are a little better and that I can write a better review next time. Did notice cheapening of product. When I found this product 7 years ago, it was heavenly. The new pair which I returned hurt my feet after a few minutes. I have very choosy feet and they liked the old style better. The problem is that I can't find a replacement. NB is still best for me [I'm large and heavy], even if I have to use inferior new style.

I received these, tried them on and they felt like the width was a little tight. I loosened up the laces and it was better. The first thing I check when buying any pair of shoes is the inside cushion. In most shoes these are removable and can be pulled out. Mostly everything I see of several different brands is that the cushion is too thin. Same deal with these. The bottoms were hard and hurt after walking on them for a few hours. I don't think I need an orthodic. I've had 6 pairs of the Nike Air Monarch and these feel fine. I wanted to get something different to alternate. New Balance are not made the way they use to and I'm very disappointed. I returned these and my search continues...

What has happened to New Balance!? 1/2 inch longer than my regular size and same width as I always buy and they are way too tight. No way this is still an SL2. I also ordered the 840 and it's the same size as the 928 but way more room in the toe box and actually a drop too loose, but it's better than being too tight. New Balance has jumped the shark. The old 926 and 927 always fit perfectly.

I have had at least four pair of these same sneakers in the last few years and I loved them. However, I ordered my 5th pair, same size, same style, same width. I wore them around the house to try out my 5th pair and they seemed fine. I brought them to DC for a week long teaching program and they were awful! Way too narrow and too small...my feet were so pained the whole week. New Balance, you messed up a good pair of sneakers! Don't change your sizing! My feet were so uncomfortable with all the walking DC required!

I've been a loyal New Balance wearer for 40 years. New Balance won my loyalty by offering sold, well made and engineered shoes that supported my feet through sometimes intense workouts, until now. I can't say how disappointed I am with the MW928. Within 3 months of wearing, the sole began to separate from the upper part of the shoe, the sewn seams in the leather began to unravel. Sadly, my old trusted New Balance companion is gone, replaced by a cheap, overpriced impostor. Don't buy these shoes. As always, Zappos is simply the finest.

I was reluctant to purchased this shoe after reading a number of negative reviews. I went ahead with the purchase and could not be more satisfied with the shoe. They are extremely comfortable and well made. I have been walking in them everyday for the past 7 days and they fit perfectly. I have been wearing New Balance shoes for 20 years and I'm a satisfied customer. So don't believe all this crap some have written about this shoe that is almost unbelievable. This shoe also doesn't make your foot hot. Satisfied Customer.

This is the second pair of New Balance shoes that I have owned that came apart. These shoes have not been worn in bad weather yet the rubber sole is separating from the the body of the shoe. A previous pair of New Balance walking shows separated at a seam on top of the shoe. In each case this happens over a 6 to 9 month period. Not going to buy NB shoes anymore

I have worn this shoe for quite sometime and felt that it was a comfortable shoe. For some reason this pair did not feel quite right and of course it was too late to return them after they had been worn! About a month ago I noticed that my socks were wet and thought it was because of the floor being wet at work as I work in a deli. a couple days later my socks were wet again and I was off work and walked through the grass. Upon inspection I found that the sole had come away from the shoe part. Now these shoes were only 3 months old! I normally can wear a pair for at least 6 months and the last pair I wore for 8. Very unhappy with them.

Don't buy the brown ones! It's hard to tell from the photos, but the brown color is not like the all-leather black color, but made with brown leather; instead, there are inserts of really gaudy woven cloth of a much lighter color. Truly ugly and stupid. Worse, they don't fit at all the same. I recently bought a pair of brown MW928, thought they would eventually wear in, but after a month they always hurt terribly. So I threw them out in the garbage. Just replaced them with a pair of black MW928, and the black feel fine from day one. And are all uniform black leather. (Both pairs from Zappos, of course.)

First of all Zappos service was very good. It took just two days for the shoes to arrive as opposed to the store who told me 8 weeks maybe . . . MAYBE . . . the shoes not so good. Newbalance MW928. Not good. They looked good at the store and online, but that is as far as they get.
These shoes are VERY uncomfortable! There doesn't seem to be any type of padding in there at all! They were fine when I tried them on the carpet, but the minute I hit the pavement it was like walking on a gravel road with no shoes at all! Several weeks in even after trying to put in more padding it's the same.
Awful!
WALKING SHOES? NOT! Extremeley uncomfortable shoes!I I don't know who said they wore them all day working on cement floors and had no problem at all, I find that not true after half an hour, my feet are on fire, and I have PAIN! I would not recommend these shoes, Don't listen to those who say how great they are, they are not! I found just the opposite and not worth the high price! Just not a good shoe period!

Quite narrow and not true to size. Also seems to be made of cheaper materials that my trusted New Balance work shoes of the past. They were the best on cement floors and standing 7.5 hours a day!

I was told that the 928 was basically the same as my prior 927 which I had bought to accommodate my 6E wide foot. The 928 claims to be 6E but isn't, it's killing me. I measured the sole and it's a quarter inch less than the 927. Ridiculous. My only hope now is that a shoe repair place can stretch it. Crazy.

I have worn and own a lot of New Balance shoes. The last couple of years they don't fit the same. Must have changed their patterns. I need a wide shoe, 4e used to fit fine, now 6e doesn't even do it. Try these on first, don't rely of previous New Balance fit experience.

This is the 4th pair of New Balance shoes that I've had to return. I have been wearing New Balance shoes in a 4e for years. All of a sudden the shoe quality is gone. The 4e feels like a narrow shoe. I even ordered the same exact shoe that I have been wearing for months. Again too small. Thank goodness for Zappos with you easy return policy. Shame on New Balance for lowering their quality.

Way overpriced. Zappos has great service and products. However, they should consider dropping these from their inventory. These shoes give Zappos a bad name. Worst lacing system I have ever had. I am a nurse and am on my feet all day. These shoes were comfortable for 1 month and then began to fall apart. I just bought New Balance running shoes to replace these. New Balance has good products, but they need to drop these from their lineup. These shoes are giving NB a bad name. I would give these shoes a zero overall score if it was an option.

To preface, I've been a New Balance fan for 20 years. They still make some good shoes, like the classic 587 I just replaced (note: that one USA made). I want to like NB stuff. That said, this was the worst pair of shoes I have tried in many years. 1. Ugly. I'm great with big clunky NB / Dunham shoes, but the 'design' touches on these shoes are all strange and clash with each other. Much uglier than it looks in the photos. 2. Construction. Feels and looks cheap. 3. Horrible leather. They were already badly scuffed, thought I got a return pair until I saw that my fingertips were leaving faint scuffs just from holding them! A small rub on the cardboard box had left a vivid scratch. Like there's a only a nanometer of bad dye. 4. Smell. Strong, strong chemical smell. Strong as in my wife stuck her head in the room as she wondered if I'd spilled the floor wax bottle that was in there. 5. Runs small. This '6E' was smaller than an old NB 4E. Probably 1/2 size short in length too. 6. Painful to walk. I don't know shoe tech, but these felt like two wood blocks were on my soles. Normal walking shoes help your shoe move through your gait. These want to be planted on the floor and stay there -- CLOMP. No give or shape or spring whatsoever. Hard to describe. The sole doesn't _look_ that different from the 926 but the internals must be. I've never encountered a shoe so determined to not let your foot move. New Balance should be EMBARRASSED to put their name on the 928.

I have plantar fasciitis and I tried these shoes. The shape of the shoe is bad for my feet. The heel is higher than the rest of the shoe and it made my calves tight. The toes curl upwards, which made my big toe numb.

Very disappointed on the support - I had the previous 927 shoe and I didn't need a Dr. Scholl's instep. The 927 lasted six months, these are in bad shape at 3 months.
