It used to be Salomon Trail Runners were indestructible, not so anymore. With just moderate wear my second pair has failed completely, split seams, broken lace hooks, and generally falling apart occurred early and got worse. I would just chalk this up to a poorly constructed batch, but when I returned the first pair because they were falling apart, I tried the same model again, with the exact same defects. This manufacturer used to be the gold standard but I guess they're using the lowest bidder to build their product with expected results.

I had these for only a couple of weeks. The sole started to peel away. I contacted Zappos and they sent me a new pair right away. I received them two days later. Unfortunately, the sole of the second pair started to peel away too. I contacted Zappos again and this time I changed the shoe to the Salomon: Sense Mantra 2. Zappos was having a sale on them so I was able to get these and $30 back. If you’re looking for a good street and trail running shoe get the Salomon: Sense Mantra 2.

I've had 2 pairs of these shoes already. First was returned to Zappos after a drawstring clips broke and the seams along the front of the shoe started splitting. Second pair is worse than the first, a clip has broken, the cloth on the toe has ripped and the seam separating the toe section and front-side section has split on both L&R shoes. It's been a long time since I've purchased a salomon, my first was an old orange pair of trail runners that was literally indestructible, I had them for years and they were structurally perfect. Both of these XR missions have bit the dust inside 3 months of wear. Incredibly disappointing. I guess they're farming their construction out inferior manuf.

Love the look of this shoe. However, my right shoe is terribly uncomfortable. I thought it was just a matter of breaking it in, but it has a noticeable difference in arch support and toe box width than the left shoe. The right shoe also feels a half size smaller than the left, even though they are both marked the same. Probably a fluke, and I should have returned them immediately, but I was stubborn and now have to deal with it.

Not a fan of this shoe at all! I've been a runner since 1982 and let me say the original big name shoes makers are still around because they work fine. This shoe looks great but within a mile I had a blister on the inner arch because of the fancy zig-zag/support straps on the sides. Very narrow fit. I will stick with my original three running shoe makers. You decide but don't say you weren't warned.
I'd also recommend:
Nike, New Balance, Saucany and maybe Asics
