I had purchased these shoes to play speed golf, so I would have good support while running in between my shots. But I definitely found is that the shoes have great support and actually really great traction for golf and are super comfortable. I now wear them whenever I play golf, whether it's speed or regular old slow golf. These are my new go to golf shoes.

Sweet! Snug in the arches and roomy in the toebox! I walk 5 miles a day on concrete and my square flat feet are very pleased. Could definitely run with them on the street. I'd get one of their other products with deeper lugs for gravel/trail running. All in all a very comfortable shoe and eye catching in the Union Blue.

I strained a Achilles tendon and bought these because they had great arch support. I shoot in uspsa and have great results with the Salomon shoes

Purchased this shoe (Light Onix/Dark Cloud/Bright Red) primarily for work at a skilled nursing facility. I was a Physical Therapist Assistant intern for six weeks with the majority of that time spent on my feet walking all over the facility; physically moving residents/patients from bed-to-chair, chair-to-exercise mat, and back again; and just constantly being on my feet while I worked with patients. I needed a comfortable and stable shoe that also didn't look half bad. The XR Mission definitely fit the bill. It provided excellent grip on the indoor floor and outdoors; granted I was only walking--slowly--on those surfaces. And when I needed to take off my shoes to get up on a treatment table (no shoes allowed on the tables), Salomon's lacing system made it quick and easy for me to don and doff my shoes. By the end of a 9-hr day (and six weeks total) constantly moving around and lifting people, my feet always felt great at the end of the day. I will most likely buy a second pair: one dedicated for work and one for just walking around town. I cannot comment on the running capability as I do all my road and trail runs with New Balance Minimus MT 10. And no review would be complete without praising Zappos' delivery service and amazing customer service.

I was needing a new pair of gym shows, and the XRs were exactly what I was looking for. The fit is perfect (size 12) and the arch support is great and I love the speed laces. I highly recommend these shoes! Once again Salomon comes through for me.

I really like this shoe. I have tried 5 pairs of the Solomon shoes out via Zappos mail and in various store. I wore the Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 Gore-Tex for 4 years. The XA Pro was always bit narrow for me and I found I did not really need waterproofing (if I know there is water I will wear my Vasque Sundowner boots. If there a little water, I will jump over it or walk around it.). I thought the Salomon XR Crossmax Neutral CS and Salomon XR Crossmax Neutral were too tight in forefoot. After only one day Salomon XR Mission are my new favorite Salomons. I plan to use them for trail running and everyday cruising around my town shoes. Now my wish wish item is an active vest to go with my shoes (for indoor and outdoor wear. Too bad Solomon does not make vests. Will likely go to Mountain Smith for that). I highly recommend trying 6 or 7 pairs of Salomons before settling on one - it sure helped me. The feel is "so" different with each shoe model.

These shoes are outstanding for trail running. Once you step on the trail, you can't even feel the shoe. Very comfortable.

I'm so glad Salomon has made this shoe! I run almost exclusively on trail so when some friends want me to run a road race I panicked a bit looking for a shoe that wouldn't go to waste for just road use. I have run both road and trail in this shoe and it works perfectly! Another great addition by the Salomon team! I will definitely buy another pair of these shoes.

I will gloss over the style rating as that is silly for trail running shoes. These shoes are nearly perfect for running on most trails. The shoes fit well in all areas, have no uncomfortable seams, medium weight, pretty good feel of the trail and protects the foot from rocks and roots. I have used these shoes for training and racing (I own four pairs). I recommend the neutral model. The control model feels unnaturally stiff. The shoes also wash up well in the washer with no ill effects. They are good all around shoes for training.

This is a comfortable and very stable shoe. Other than it being a slightly snugger fit (just a little) than expected, it's been perfect. I love Salomon's shoes. They last, provide good support and look cool!

I was looking for a more heavy duty cross-trainer type shoe with more substance and support than today's new lightweight shoes provide. This shoe fits that bill. Had to return the first pair because they were too tight, but a half-size larger fits fine and comfortably. Honestly, I didn't even notice the draw-string laces when I ordered them, but kind of like them. Makes it easy to put them on and if you're not doing heavy walking or running, you don't really even have to tighten them because the shoes fit snugly. I always search for shoes that are kind of cool looking, but can't overdo it without looking ridiculous given my age. I'm not completely crazy about the look on these, although my daughter said she likes them. Overall, a good shoe that is comfortable and solid.

Excellent door to trail shoe with a large toe box which is nice on longer runs. Traction is adequate for most conditions, yet soft on road sections.

This is my 5th pair of Salomon brand shoes. They're the most versatile I have owned. Light weight yet rugged. Only complaint is the soles are a little wider than previous pairs so they catch eachother when running narrow trails.

I used these shoes to thru hike the Appalachian trail with. overall i thought they were a great shoe. they dry fast lace ultra fast and one pair woul last about a month (500+miles) going through some of the roughest terrain on the east coast. they also stand by their warranty The colors were a little wild but that's okay. My first pair had great arch support but the later pairs lacked the same support.

These are great point A to point B shoes. I put 'em on and hoist my 3 year old up on my shoulders and go. Great for those days when I need to negotiate the cobblestones in SoHo, or when the ride over the Williamsburg bridge is a bet wet and woolly. Arch support is excellent as are the pull-tie things that function in the place of laces. Also you can't go wrong with just a bit of lime green right?

This shoe feels slightly small (length-wise), but the toe box is sized well. Order a half size larger to allow for foot swelling. I think the firmer toe bumper makes them feel a little smaller since there is less "give" to that part of the structure. The foot bed is very comfortable. The shoe, overall, is very light and I have found it a bit clunky while doing some road training to break them in. Excellent stability on non-road surfaces. Put a few miles on them to break them in and you are set. The speed laces are great, but the lace holder is not so good. Just tuck the end in under that lace structure and you are all set. I would buy another Salomon product since I'm very satisfied with the XR Mission so far. 4 Stars overall due to the size issue.

Really wanted to like this shoe based on the positive comments. Felt great at first, but after wearing them for a few days they actually hurt my feet. I even tried a couple of different inserts to try to make them work. I wear them now just because I paid a lot for them, but they are not super comfortable to me.

Comfortable, nice shoe, but didn't last long. Normally my shoes last about a year. These are torn in three places and I had to super glue the plastic clip that tightens the shoe laces because it broke within a few weeks. I probably won't buy another pair of Salomon shoes, their skis and boots are much better.

I really wanted to like this shoe based upon the numerous positive reviews and the fact I own a pair of Salomon boots that I love. The style of this shoe is great. The problem I had was the sizing. I started with a size 9, which I normally wear, but my toes were crammed into the front of the shoe. I exchanged them for a 9.5 but my feet were absolutely swimming in those. I'm really bummed these didn't work out for me. Thankfully Zappos has a great return policy. Now, back to my search for the perfect shoe.

These shoes were very uncomfortable. Very rigid with no give. Lacing system is good. High arch people will have a problem with these shoes.

Loved these shoes for about 2 months. Then the arch collapsed and I hobbled home. I am over 6' tall and over 200 pounds, and a daily walker. Tried replacing support liner, but made the shoe more uncomfortable. Wish I could save these from being tossed in the trash.

I have never had shoes so uncomfortable in my life. They have a rock-hard footbed, with absolutely no give. I am thinking it must be defective. I went with a low rating because it has to be comfortable. Sad feet ruin the day.
