As others have noted, there is definitely a break-in period for these shoes. Give it a day or two to let the leather give and conform to your feet. I usually order a size 13, but wound up ordering the size 12, and they fit perfectly, so definitely take that into consideration when ordering. I did also wind up adding in an additional gel insole, but otherwise, these are very comfortable shoes. I'll definitely consider getting another pair.

They run big! Trust the reviews on here. I ordered a 14 and had to send it back for a 13.

We were surprised to see that it was made in China. Needed to have an insert to feel really comfortable.

Nice looking shoe and well built on the outside but it was about a size and a half too big. I usually wear a 12 in Nikes and this was very big. Also the insole was a stiff removable insole like you buy over the counter not a padding.

Need to exchange. Shoe is easily a full size larger then the 10 I ordered. Excellent construction. I like the casual look with jeans. Slightly nicer that a pair of boat mocs. Other than the sizing, excellent Timberland construction.

These are very comfy and roomy shoes; they didn't require any breaking in like Sperry normally does. The leather is soft and flexible and they've held up pretty well. The only issue I have with these, is the leather laces constantly come untied. Lately I've been wearing my Sperrys because the Timberland laces are just really annoying.

I got these in taupe from Zappos with next day delivery. I was astoished to find that they had arrived the very next day. The shoes are good looking and soft. They feel a little loose. I had ordered half a size down. Overall they come across decently.

Great shoes! Very comfortable and nice fit. I purchased a little larger than my normal size intentionally (because I wanted a loose fit). My previous pair were leather and looked better after scuffing and normal wear, but I like these for indoor shoes. All in all, I'm pleased and would purchase again.

I usually wear a 9.5-10 US. These are way too large. I should've ordered a 9 or even a 8.5. Already wore them for a day so I cannot return them.

Great looking shoe but does run much larger than advertised! I usually wear a 9.5 and when I put these shoes on my feet could swim in them. If you do get the shoe just get them a full size smaller than your usual shoe size and everything should be fine.

Great shoes. They were about a size too big then my typical New Balance running shoe size. Took about a week to break in and have been incredible comfortable since then. They start to smell after a while.

Timberland, though a great shoe, seems to run at least a half size larger than others.

Nice quality shoe, the leather and stitching are great. Unfortunately, the lip of the heel was stiff and a bit sharp, blistered up my heel really bad on the first wear. I added some moleskin padding to the heel in order to wear them again. As painful as the first impression was, they are still nice enough to continue wearing.

These shoes run extremely large! I normally wear a 13 (which I originally ordered) and the 12 is too big. 11.5 now on order.

We ordered 4 different brands for my hysband to try. He likes classic (bordering on out of fashion) shoes. For example, he still wears his Doc Martins from the 1980s and tassel loafers from the mid1990s. We both agreed tgat these were the best choice for him. Not too embarrassing for the teenage kids when dad wears them, and great quality and comfort for him. He often walks 3-4 in them (with socks) and they have held up well. This is a guy who wears out keen and acorn and every brand we've tried of slippers at home every 7 months, so these are a super durable outdoor shoe.

I have had 3 pair of Timberland boat shoes over the last 21 years. This is pair #4 and I believe it is a step down in material grade and construction compared to the previous ones. There is no real ankle lacing, what you see is cosmetic. The sole feels very soft. I drive a manual transmission car and I can feel the shape of the clutch pedal when I press it. I noticed that Timberland has a "premium" version of the boat shoe but it's not sold in Zappos. I would like Zappos to start selling them soon like within the next 2 years.

A nice enough boat shoe, but I am disappointed that they are not 360 degree laced. I think this would really improve the fit.

I ordered these shoes, against my better judgment. I really liked them and they were available at a great price. They were comfortable. However, after ordering a half size smaller - they were still a full size too big. A 1.5 size difference. Shoes, Sneakers, etc are so varying in size. Very frustrating to order by internet.

Cool style and ease of access when you need to put on your shoes quick. However, the shoe ran wide and large. Had to get a half size smaller than usual (typically 11.5) and still had room to spare. I typically move fast on my feet, so the lack of arch support forced me to slow down.

The best way for me to describe my dissatisfaction with this shoe is to tell you how I use them. I often do not wear socks with deck shoes. The back of this shoe is not stiff enough to slip your foot into the shoe without help from your fingures to get your heel in the shoe. Buyers are unable to see that from the pictures.

If you wear size 13, order 12 1/2. They're unusually wide too. The leather is a beautiful dark chocolate. If you wear socks, they will be dark chocolate too and it doesn't come out in the wash. Like a lot of things, not what they used to be.

They are not at all true to size. My foot is a perfect 10.5 and has been that way for the past 40 years. Old shoes I have still fit perfectly. I had an old pair of Timberland boat shoes that were great so I thought I would try these, that was after having to return 2 pair of Sebago's, which my old pair fit perfect (10.5) but both new pairs were just awful. Too long, too high, too wide. Even the 10 was too long. Before buying these I read a few reviews and 2 people marked them as true to size so I figured I would give that a shot. Sorry I didn't read more, when I put these on there is almost a full thumb width from where my big toe ends to the end of the shoe. I'm really getting a bit tired of having to constantly ship things back. Why can't these manufacturers just make the shoe to the correct size. For years and years I bought shoes and you never had to guess whether they were "true to size", this issue never came up because they were made to the size they said on the box and on the shoe. I can understand some small variations but it's getting ridiculous. And all this time writing reviews. Never used to have to go through this rigmarole in the past. I'll be the 1st to praise a good product but it's so hard to find these days. I will say they seem like a decent made shoe, just don't know how many I have to go through to get the right size.

Now I know why I don't buy shoes online. These hit my ankle bone in a weird way and they hurt to wear. Now I'm forced to decide between trying to get used to them or deal with the hassle of a return. Sucks.

Like other customers I ordered a size down from what my son wears in basketball shoes. The shoes were still so big and he says they are uncomfortable around the ankle area. We have to return them and hopefully get the next ones quickly as now we need them in less than a week. Going to try Sperry's instead.

Leather had some cosmetic flaws. Contains a substantial amount of man made materials. Side and back lacing is sewn-in instead of extending to the front top tying area. Cannot find this model at Timberland's website. Made in China.
