It isn't visible from the pictures of this shoe, but the best way to describe this show is "a pair of socks with sandals attached". The mesh fabric encapsulates your foot like a sock and the leather over the top acts like straps to hold the sole on. As a result they give plenty of room for your foot to flex and breath. I returned them because I like a shoe that securely attaches to my foot and provides structure and support from all sides... like a pair of roller blades. If you like a softer relaxed feeling these are just for you. Keep in mind that this show is both wide at the ball of the foot and at the heel. I'm not so wide at the heel as I am at the ball so this shoe move around a bit on me in the heel as a consequence. I nice shoe if you like the barefoot/sock footed feel.

Latest version of NB's popular line of tennis shoe. They're light, stable and comfortable. I wouldn't buy any other brand. Who could ask for more?

I have wide feet and the 2E in this shoe is a great shoe for tennis. I play 2 hour matches 3x a week and these are holding up well. they're light weight and breathable. not quite as much ankle support as a more rigid shoe, but that's ok for me.

I bought these for my husband who recently found out he has plantar fasciitis and the doctor told him he needed to wear "lace up sneakers" until he received his orthotics. He has a 4E foot! and it's really hard to find shoes that fit. Zappos has a great selection in what to find shoes and the shipping was super fast. He tells me the shoes are very comfortable and when combined with the stretching, his feet are feeling better.

Well this shoe was a little tight on my toes so being a 1st time customer, Zappos took the pair back and sent me a wider pair. The new pair works great! They give me the support I need on the tennis court. I wear a 14 D and have found that New Balance has many good choices in my size!

This was the second pair of tennis shoes purchased this summer. I've been plagued by plantar fasciitis (inflamed/irritated Achilles tendons) since starting to play tennis this spring. Googling plantar fasciitis and tennis shoes led me to the New Balance shoes. Immediate relief as soon as I started playing with these. Buying a second pair before they change them.

Before I ordered this shoe I bought the NB MC996 in a EE width. They turned out to be so narrow I barley get them on. I exchanged them for this model in a 4E width and they fit perfectly although I normally wear EE in everything else including other NB shoes. These shoes feel great on my feet, have very good lateral support, and look good. I also like the tread design on this shoe better than others have had, and they do well on clay courts as well as hard surface.

If you require a wide shoe 4E or 3E this is the best shoe I have found for playing tennis. The over-all comfort and foot support allows me to play tennis and deliver the best performance possible. This is a great shoe! The colors are very sporty. Most men's wide shoes for tennis are usually white and not stylish. This shoe has style and performance for my needs playing tennis.

NB is the only shoe that is mostly popular with older active tennis players in Florida with my own one person survey that 1/2 or more show up in them because they feature wide fit and last a decent time. Stay away from the low end NB. Sometimes I think they are knockoffs but they hurt my feet.

This is a terrific pair of all around sneakers! These are my favorite of many NB shoes in the closet, and I wear then often. They've got support, style, and they don't mark the floors as many "tennis" shoes do.

This has been a great shoe. I primarily use it for racquetball. As a large man, I need a shoe that is comfortable but provides plenty of front and lateral support. This shoe does all of that, while looking cool in the process.

I continue to buy this shoe because the width provides comfort for bunions. Also it is a laterally stable shoe; I have yet to roll an ankle.

My 15 year old son has a very hard to find size and fit. 13 Wide. New Balance has not let him down yet. He wears these shoes to play tennis and loves them. He wears New Balance shoes for leisure as well. Zappos has a great selection and they have fit him every time.

Very comfortable and feels lighter than the other NB tennis shoes I have worn. Little, if any, break-in required, likely due to mesh uppers. So far, very pleased!

Terrific shoe. Provides good looks with great comfort and stability. Very durable as I play tennis 4-5 times a week. One if the best court shoes New Balance makes in wide widths.

I purchased the New Balance MC1005 tennis shoes and find them to be comfortable and great traction while stopping and starting. The extra width allows room and comfort for my feet.

I was looking for a tennis shoe that would fit my narrow foot. Even though this style doesn't come in a B width, the D was narrow enough. They aren't fancy but are not ugly. I like them.

These are decent shoes. I mainly buy them because I wear a wide, I have had two pairs now, white and now black. They are comfortable and work well on the har-tru courts that I normally play. I know I will buy another pair once I wear these out. My biggest complaint is that the inside fabric in the heel wears out sooner then I felt it should. Once this happened they were no longer comfortable yet the soles and exterior uppers had plenty of life left.

Typical NB quality product. Excellent fit and traction, and very light. Suspect durability will equal my previous shoes -- MC804. After a month of wear, I'm thinking I'll probably return to the leather-uppers (804) because my old feet appreciate the small amount of additional support.

I tried many pairs of tennis shoes (for playing tennis) before I stuck with these. I have wide feet and you can always count on New Balance to have a comfortable fit. These are very cozy, sturdy, and perform well on the court. Highly recommended.
