The sole seems to thick to be considered a barefoot shoe... just a traditional Maryjane feel. The toe box wasn't wide for the little toes like a barefoot shoe should feel. Otherwise it is really cute. I'm going to checkout the Vivo's maryjanes.

I loved these shoes. I wore them everyday to work, as I am currently pregnant, and cannot wear high-heeled shoes. These provided enough support, despite it being flat. However, I am very disappointed that after 5 months of wear, it is giving up on me. The little button where you hook the strap on came off. And the sides of my shoes started falling apart. Sadly, I would have to give these shoes up. I'm not sure if it's worth buying another pair, given that its life span was only 5 months.

These did NOT work for me. They were much too loose overall and toward the back of the foot, while being rather tight and squinchy in the toe area. As a former dancer, I could have lived with the tight toe part, as that is reminiscent of ballet slippers. But no way could I deal with the sloppy, wide main part of the shoes! Who are all these people with wider feet that the shoe companies are trying to accommodate during the last few years? Do they really exist? Seems as though in the past, "combination lasts" with narrower heels were commonplace and easy to find. WHAT HAPPENED?

The 8.5 (my usual size) was too short. I was disappointed that this shoe does not have as much support as the Merrell Barefoot Pace Glove -- a shoe I really like. I thought similar names would mean more similar styles. Sadly, I am returning the shoe.

I returned these because they squished my toes at the front. If I moved my foot to the very back, it was okay, but if I just put them on as my foot would naturally fall, it was quite crammed.

I listened to the person who said that these run large and ordered 1/2 size smaller than I normally wear the first time. Alas, they were too short. Reordered in my normal size and will be returning. The angle of the toe is just not very comfortable on the outer toes and overall, I need more support. If you are into the "barefoot" craze, these would be great--just not for me!

These shoes are a conundrum for me... I usually wear a size 7, but the 7's had my outer toes hitting the top end of the shoe. So I went up half a size- same problem.. Then I went up a full size... they stopped hitting the top of the shoe but the shoe was way too large- they were kinda floppy. so then I thought I'd go down to a size 6 thinking maybe the 7's were hitting the top of the shoe because they were too long and my foot would slide up... but the size 6's were even worse with the toes scratching up the top.. So it looks like I have to choose between my outer toes hitting the end of the shoe or the shoe flopping around from being too big everywhere else. I was really bumbed out about it, but I feel a little better after reading a bunch of reviews where others had the same exact problem I had. Misery loves company I guess. All the sizes I got in this shoe went back. Will try the serene to see if that fits better though I don't like their style as much.

Super lightweight and cute, but had to send them back as my toes were not comfy. Merrell Barefoot sneakers worked well for me.

Bought these in Guava, thought they'd be yellow but they were green. I wear a 10.5 or 11, and the 10.5 wasn't quite large enough in this style (although some other Merrell styles are). Also not quite as comfortable as I'd hoped from the reviews... returned them, will try something else instead.

Despite the positive reviews and the fact I really wanted to like this shoe, I'm sending these back. Although it looked white in the picture, the color is actually more of a gray (which makes sense because the color name is aluminum). The toes on my left foot hit uncomfortably against the top of the shoe when I walked, but my right foot was fine, so I hesitate trying another size. Maybe I am not used to having a barefoot shoe, but they just felt funny and not as cute as I would have hoped when they were on. I usually am a fan of Merrell for boots, but just not of these shoes.

These shoes were extremely loose on my foot. Would have been nice to have adjustable straps.

These shoes look great, but I didn't realize they were going for the barefoot feel. They offer zero support. I found they run smaller than usual size. I wish I could fit an insole in them. Wish that I hadn't worn them outside so I could return. I love the color. They look great with tan or grey.

I had such high hopes. The shoes looks good on screen, but it fits like those booties that you put over your shoes to go inside of a model home. I was not expecting arch support, but I did expect a glove-like fit. These are very loose and baggy on the sides even considering that I ordered down half a size (from my usual 9.5 to a 9). I loved the concept, the simplicity, the color and "barefoot" styles, but this is not snug enough on the foot to make it worth the price. I returned them.

I was so disappointed when I got these shoes. I went to the shoemaker and put 2 grabs in the back so they wouldn't slip off. I went on holiday and could not get them to work. I figured I won't return them cause I had the grabs put in.

Someone should tell Merrell that these shoes should have a button that stays on. This is the second time I have had to quit wearing these shoes because there is no way to reattach the button that holds the strap. For the price I would think they would be made better. I cannot be the only one that has had this experience!

Not comfortable at all. I tried to break them in slowly, but so far they hurt my feet. I might try getting them stretched to see if that helps. I always wear a size 8 but these seem a little short. I already wore them (just trying to break them in) so unfortunately I can't send them back. I would if I could though!

I WANTED to love these shoes - I've been eying barefoot styles for a while, and I loved the cute look of these - something I could wear casually or for work. The first issue is the sizing. The 8 was just slightly too long, and the 7.5 was the right length, but too tight. I ended up keeping the 8, and found that the extra length got less noticeable as it started to shape to my foot. However, after just 2 weeks of light indoor use, the button that holds the strap popped off! For $100 shoes, that kind of quality issue is simply unacceptable - I hope Merrell considers this in the future! As always, Zappos was great with shipping and the return process!

It's been a while since I was this disappointed in a shoe! I have some J-41's that are light/thin athletic shoes, and like them. As a former dancer, the idea of a ballet-ish shoe appeals to me -- a lot. In fact, I planned to wear these shoes for an upcoming (not ballet) dance performance. But the first slip-on of this shoe demonstrated -- failure, for me anyway. The shoe is surprisingly wide in the entire back area. Without that long strap, it would have slipped right off my foot. At the same time, it is a short shoe and squeezes my toes, especially the outer (smaller) toes, uncomfortably. I normally wear a 7 and at times a 6.5, but in this shoe I ordered a 7 and...I'm really surprised that it fit so poorly. I can't keep and wear this shoe. During the last few years I keep finding shoes that are much too wide. What I think is happening is that shoe manufacturers don't want to make different widths, as they end up with too much overstock to keep the young MBA's happy. They figure "if the shoe fits, wear it" (even though if your foot is narrower, the shoe falls off again). My feet are narrower at the heel and medium in front -- not an unusual foot type. Years ago, more shoes fit me, so I am not happy with this shoe trend. Are we growing new generations of females with wide feet now?! I doubt it, actually.

I tried these shoes on in a store...twice. I thought they were extremely comfortable...so I ordered them from Zappos and took them as my main walking shoes for a two week trip to the UK. Wrong! Barefoot is exactly right! I had to watch where I was walking -- cobblestones hurt, as did any stone in the road, because wearing them is like being barefoot. Since my feet haven't had tough barefoot hide since I was about seven, I'd say these shoes are problematic. Still, they're comfortable -- and waterproof -- as long as you don't walk on gravel or cobblestones!

These are poorly made and poorly designed shoes. I bought them (not from Zappos) for a trip to Europe, thinking I can comfortably walk in them and dress them up or down. They were super uncomfortable to wear all day (and I've worn other barefoot technology shoes, with more success). Also, within 2 days of wear, the cloth of the right shoe "puckered" and deformed, making them look hideous and essentially rendering them unwearable. These are way overpriced for the poor overall quality. After this experience, I've sworn off ever buying Merrells again.

I was so excited to get these shoes. They are adorable, and just slips right on for me to run out the door. I have also experienced barefoot shoes before, so I knew what to expect. However, that was simply not the case at all. There was absolutely no support at all what-so-ever! I mean none! Zip, zilch, nada. It was like walking on the floor (literally barefoot) with a very thin piece of rubber underneath so that you do not slip and fall. Also, the shoes were much narrower than I have previously experienced with Merrell's shoes. I kept contemplating if I should just buy a good insole, since these shoes were too darn cute to return. Unfortunately, as I kept looking down at how adorable these shoes are, I also kept seeing my feet slightly going over the sides of the insole. I could tell that after a few times of wearing the shoes, there would be a bulge of where my feet were protruding from. Uuugh, I am so disappointed, that I cannot keep them.

Awkward shoe. Tried to get these for my restaurant job but they just won't work. The toe box is too triangular, the curve from big toe to little toe is too dramatic. Thankfully Zappos has an awesome return policy!
