Just traded in my old B&D blender for this Kitchen Aid. I cannot yet speak to its longevity. However, our first smoothie blended incredibly fast, in approximately 1/30th the time. The blender performed well. The smoothie was completely smooth (even raw carrot). It poured perfectly with no mess and the pitcher bottom is very wide, so if you need to get in there with a spatula you can. Initially I was surprised by the light weight, but it turned out to be very helpful in pouring. So far, I am impressed. I cannot give five stars because I have no proof that it is going to last for many years.

So far so good. We've only had our blender for about a month, but we've given it a good workout. Mostly drinks with a lot of ice. It does a great job. Our drinks are smooth and ice chunk free. It makes good pesto as well. It's a bit odd not being able to remove the base to clean it, but it's not a problem and is easily cleaned if you run it with a bit of soap in it.

Initially, I wrote a very positive review. This blender works very well. After about 5 months there are serious manufacturing problems which render it useless. The first issue was that the bowl started to get foggy (no longer clear) this happened after about 3 months. I considered this a cosmetic problem, so I disregarded it. The second issue is more serious, and I have seen many other reviews stating this issue. The bowl leaks from the bottom. I checked it thoroughly, and it did not need tightening. Now, when I use it, there is a small pool at the bottom of the bowl, and it leaves the same pool wherever I place it. This is a serious enough issue to return the machine. I do believe there are inherent problems that show up after time, and use. Fortunately, Zappos has such excellent customer service I will return it to them to follow up with KitchenAid. I am sorry to have to return it, because I loved it until now.

Initially I was extremely pleased. Had my Oster for 30 years and loved it. Heard from friends that Kitchen Aid was dependable. Two months later and every morning when I make my smoothie with frozen fruit the nut on the bottom that secures the blade assembly comes loose and my smoothie starts leaking out the bottom. I have tightened it but it doesn't stay.
I'd also recommend:

We were not happy with this blender. It's very stylish and love the color (buttercream), but the first time we used it and every time since it has a smell of the motor burning. Then recently (a month or 2 ago), the pitcher started leaking. We would tighten the screw at the bottom, but would still leak. It is now so bad, it unusable. I would not buy another one of these. I am usually satisfied with KitchenAid, but this model blender is terrible

Friends told me Kitchen Aid was great. My Oster died after 30 years, so I decided to invest in this great deal on Zappos. 3 months later and the nut that holds the blade assembly keeps twisting off. My smoothie leaks out the bottom of the blender and all over the base. Not a bargain.

This is a great blender when it's ready to go, however, getting it to that point is a pain. The plastic base jams up constantly, making it impossible to set the pitcher on the motor. I bought the blender because I have a mixer which is fantastic, but if I had known what problems I would have with the blender, I would never have bought it. If I had known then what I know now, I would find a different product.

I just purchased this blender last week, 7-15-12, & Zappos delivered it in record time! Unfortunately, the first time I plugged it in & turned it on, this blender danced across my kitchen counter shaking like crazy! I could do nothing to make it stop. I tried different positions on the jar, made sure the counter is level, & it continued doing this dance. I thought it was going to launch the jar into the air! I quickly called Customer Loyalty, & they sent me a new one that arrived in less than 24 hours! I tried the new one, & it seemed alright, until the second day I tried to use it, & it started the same thing! Except this time I put plain water in it, & tried it on all speeds, & nothing helped. I then noticed small bits of black plastic in the water that appeared to come from the black plastic washer in the bottom under the blade! I called Zappos again, & they offered a refund. I chose instead to call KitchenAid, & they told me they are aware of a defect in the jars & said they would send a new jar when it arrives, as it is back ordered because of a redesign to solve the problem. As well as the bad jar, the "soft start" feature isn't "soft" at all. Instead, when I pushed the slow speed "stir", it starts with a jolt, faster than the stir speed, sending the contents into the lid! All speeds did the same. I told KitchenAid about this too, & they said they would send a whole new blender with the redesigned jar when it is available. I'll wait & see what they send me, & report back. This is the second KitchenAid product I had to have replaced by KitchenAid. The first was a Artisan stand mixer that seized up on the first try! The replacement is doing fine. Zappos is not at fault here, & has the most awesome customer service ever! KitchenAid on the other hand, should recall all of these blenders as a safety hazard due to the plastic bits getting into whatever is mixed in them! I'm starting to think "Made In USA" doesn't mean what it used to! Zappos is still the best!
