Great back pack. I bought it to complement a 3 piece set of High Sierra purchased a year ago, and it is a near perfect match.

I had a very strong backpack that was getting worn out. Most of the local backpack were not as sturdy as the one I just received. The High Sierra has almost identical compartments of which I am extremely pleased. It is lightweight and comfortable to wear on my back. I use it 5 days a week carrying my laptop and other items to and from work. I also use it to travel on planes and trains and in cars. I travel often throughout the USA and abroad. It is very convenient.

I use this daily at school and so far, it holds everything, including my three textbooks, and I still have extra pockets that I don't use. :)

My sister got me this bag for my birthday and I love it. I am currently in nursing school and my bag can weigh up to 50lbs! The strap system with the elastic in it helps to lighten the load considerably. Also it has tons of padding along the straps and the back of the bag.

My middle schooler is carrying a lot of stuff in his backpack, including a laptop. Like a typical boy, he is not terribly careful with his backpacks and we historically had to replace his backpack annually. This High Sierra Access backpack, however, has held up pretty well after a year. Two zippers came off recently. I was ready to get him a new one but he said he did not mind not having zipper pulls. I got him a new and more expensive backpack anyway and he used it for a few days and said he wished I have gotten the same one as before. Then asked me if I could fix his old backpack zippers. This was a first. He is not terribly attached to things but he really likes this backpack. I called the warranty line and they send out three zippers for me for free. No hassle at all. And the nice lady told me if the replacement zippers do not work, I can call back and they can evaluate whether to repair or replace. Nice backpack, nice warranty and nice people to deal with. I am thinking I should get a couple of more of these packs and put them in the closet and we will set through college.

Both of my teens have this backpack for middle school and high school. They no longer have lockers at school, so this pack works as a mobile locker storing way too many binders and lunch, etc. Plenty of separate pockets to keep things organized, which is necessary at this age. And, they're sturdy. We used to buy a new backpack almost every year, but these are on their 2nd and 3rd years. Impressive, when you consider how much they cram in there on a daily basis. Not to mention the tugging and tossing around. Great backpacks.
I'd also recommend:
North Face, Marmot

Got this for my grad student son, replacing the same backpack that was over 5 years old. Big, sturdy, great for travel, held up after using it every day super-stuffed all that time. Also the only backpack with a cell pocket on the strap, and a backpack "shower cap" to protect from rain! Zappos was $20 more $$ but the only one with this color.

I've been heavily using this backpack for the last 5 years. It's spent thousands of miles with me commuting by bike. It's held up remarkably well. I've had to wash it a few times. Only problems: the chest strap fell off a couple years ago, and there's a tear in some fabric between two compartments on the inside. It can contain 45 liters if the straps are all the way loosened. That is a lot of stuff; most backpacks are in the 20 to 32 L range. If you have less stuff, tighten the side straps to cinch the bag smaller. I'm looking for a replacement because the old one is getting grimy and old-looking. The only competitor I found is a 35 L North Face which costs a lot. I'm sure it's higher quality materials, but not worth triple the price.

This is the third Access Backpack I have purchased - one for myself and one each for my son and daughter, who are college students. The quality of the bag is excellent, and the roominess is much appreciated. On a daily basis, I use it to carry my laptop, running shoes, headphones, and lots of other stuff. I really like the side zippered pocket, which I use for my wallet. I don't even carry a purse any longer. The attached rain hood is handy - I've had to use it on occasion and everything in the bag stayed dry. I highly recommend this product.

Its is good capacity but its not the fanciest of bags. It works though. I like my purchase so far

My son is on his second one of these bags. Last year, we made him carry every book back and forth to school every day. Eventually, his carrying the bag by one strap made it give way.So, we switched him to his brothers bag, who was home schooled, and this High Sierra carried him through. We love High Sierra bags and come back to them every year. They are awesome and we will always come back to them.

THis is my second Access backpack. I like them because I can hold lots of stuff other than just my business items. I can pack my laptop and files along with a change of clothes and the usual e-reader. recharge cords, etc. My only complaint is the this version is constructed of "stiff" material and the zippers don't slide easily.

I actually bought 2 of these. One for me to use on road trips to carry snacks, a quick change of clothing, small tech gear, and toiletries. The 2nd backpack is for school use by my son in college and so far he's very happy with how it's holding up rainy/snowy conditions.

Bought this bag for everyday use. I work in the medical field and work at many different facilities. My backpack is my locker, I never know where I will be working from one day to the next. This backpack helps organize my work and personal supplies so they are easier to find when needed. I love the bottle holder on the side, it would be nicer if it was a tad bit larger for my other sport bottles that I have. I am kind of bummed about the clasp hook breaking the very first time I used it. Other than the hook and the zipper snagging, no other problems. Good material and this bag hols so much.

I have been looking for a nice backpack for school and this was perfect. I ordered the blue one(lagoon/slate), and the color is beautiful. There's so much room and lots of roomy pockets. The only bad things about this pack are the zippers. They snag every time and you have to fold back the little zipper cover thing every time which is time consuming, annoying, and frustrating. They're also extremely noisy. They're metal zippers and when moving at any reasonable pace, they clink and clank around.
