First off, because of the liner, you definitely want to order a size up from your regular shoe size. If you are a half size, maybe just half a size up would be okay. I'm a 9 exactly and the 10 fits me well. A tad loose, but there's so much padding, I'm not sure they are meant to feel tight. If they feel tight, you likely have too small of a size. These are incredibly great Winter boots. I live in Alaska, and it took me four different brands of Winter boots before these finally were perfect. Keens were second best, but just not as warm. I can stand around in the cold for hours and my feet don't get cold. If your Winters are just a 20 degree day every now and then, but mostly 30 or 40 degree days, then I wouldn't recommend them unless you have very cold feet. These don't come out of my closet until it's below 20 degrees F. I'd still recommend Baffin's but maybe one of the less hearty Winter boots. But for people with very real Winters, these are a must. The style isn't very cute, but when it's cold enough for me to need these, nothing else I'm wearing is that cute, either, so no big deal.
I'd also recommend:

This is a well made serious winter boot. With Baffin, make sure you try on the liner first, then put your foot in the boot! makes a difference in the fit.

My temperature rose 10 degrees as soon as I put these on! These boots are extremely warm! Not for a cool day. But if it's cold outside, these are great. Comfortable but not what you are looking for if you want a feminine looking boot...they are a little bulky. Super functional for snow or very cold weather, though. Extra lining inside. Comfy and cozy.

We often get feet of snow, and I needed a tall boot, but having large calves makes it hard to find a boot that will fit calf and foot! These run extremely small in the foot area, but the calf area is nice! I normally wear a 7.5 to 8 shoe, I had to order a 10 to get the foot to fit right, and have just enough room to get a warm air barrier in there. I could not wear and don't normally wear heavy socks inside boots as I get a warmer feel without socks and just some air space. We haven't had any snow this year, wouldn't you know, but they feel very warm and seem to be comfortable and sturdy. I like the removable inner sock and I think they look very nice on.

I live in Wisconsin. I had boots that were rated very warmly, but they were not very cute, so I didn't always wear them, even when it was cold and I should have. My new Baffin Iceland boots are fantastic! Definitely warm, so easy to slide on/off, I love the stretch-lace-up front. And they are attractive enough to wear out to dinner in the coldest weeks of the year without looking like I'm just shoveling the driveway. I am very happy with these boots.

I can only attest to the fit because I haven't worn them out. Thanks to the reviews, I ordered a size 11 while normally wearing a size 8.5 E shoe. They fit just great with a very plush, bouncy-athletic feel. I have wide 17 inch calves and these adjust to them just fine with the lace-up. Their nicely taller shaft height suits my needs. They're not fashion boots, but they look a heck of a lot better than most Pac boots.

I was very excited to get these boots, however, they just don't fit well. I wanted a nice pair of snow boots to hike in, and my ankle keeps slipping out of these. They are a little bulkier than I like as well, but are the warmest of many boots I've tried on. The faux fur lining looks great, and I wish they could work for me. If you are walking around town or shoveling the driveway, I'd recommend them. However, I plan on walking several miles in them and will get the Keen Hoodoos instead. They come highly recommended if you aren't planning on hiking!

These are very sturdy and very warm boots. I ordered my true size which is a 7, into which I could tuck a pair of jeggings and some thin socks. I wanted to be able to tuck in regular jeans, too, so I ordered an 8. With those I could wear thick socks and if I safety-pinned my jeans to make them tighter at the ankle I could tuck them in. But even the 8's felt funny to walk in. Hard to describe the feeling. The boots squeeze your feet and they don't hurt, but I found them uncomfortable to walk in, as if I was 'up' too high and didn't have good balance. Due to bunions, I have feet like a duck, wide in the front. Maybe someone with a narrow foot would be more comfortable in them.

These are so warm! I live in Minnesota and I spend a lot of time outdoors in the winter. Between ice fishing, shoveling, sledding, I needed a warm boot and these rock! Other winter boots I have owned, my feet would get really cold sitting on the ice for more than a few hours. I can sit on the ice all day with these boots and I never get cold feet. They are really comfortable too! The only complaint is that they are a little clunky, but that is because I ordered up a size. I would definitely recommend ordering up a half size or a full size because the liner in the boots is snugger with socks on. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase!

Baffin Iceland Snow Boots Durable, functional, and attractive! Do you spend lots of time outside when it is freezing out? Are you looking for a warm and durable boot that is also decently attractive? If you are looking for a versatile yet good-looking snow boot, this is the one for you! These boots are brilliant for very cold winters when temperatures remain well below freezing for extended periods of time. Comfort: These boots have no breaking-in period; you can put them on and they are immediately comfortable. The upper parts are flexible, so you can still have the range of motion you would have in a less-insulated boot. The inner sole is firm; it keeps the cold from seeping up through the bottom of the boot. The material is not very breathable, but that is to be expected with any boot that is rated for -40 degrees Fahrenheit. The liner is so warm that you can be outside for hours and your feet won’t get cold. Appearance: This boot is surprisingly attractive for one that is so warm, though it is a bit bulky. They could definitely be worn with a cute outfit. They are very nice-looking for boots rated for weather so cold. They are more attractive than other snow boots that aren’t nearly as warm. Quality: These boots are a great quality material. I got mine while I thought that my feet would continue growing, so they were always a little big. If they hadn’t been too big, I would have worn them until they fell apart. I took them walking in the woods in the dead of winter and they were awesome. They have great grip on the bottom, so I almost never slipped. Once I accidentally stepped through a sheet of ice into water while wearing them. The outside of my boot was frozen solid, but my foot was dry and warm. I also found that the cinch laces they had were brilliant for when you need to put your boots on while your fingers are stiff from the cold. These are some of the best winter boots I have ever owned. I would recommend them to you any day. They are warm, convenient, and very durable. These boots are perfect for working or spending any time outside in the freezing cold; your feet will stay perfectly warm and comfortable. These boots will not disappoint you!

These boots came exactly as they appeared on the site. I wear a 7.5 in shoes, the size 8 was a perfect fit for the boots. Very warm and comfortable.

This boot is very well made. It is easy to slip on and off. The inside removable lining keeps your feet very warm. I highly recommend this boot if you are living in a very cold area.

I bought these boots four years ago when I lived in upstate New York. The winters there are brutal and my Hunter rain boots with extra socks just wasn't cutting it. These boots kept my feet dry and warm, sometimes a little too hot. A lot of reviewers say this boot runs small and to order up a size. I found this to be wrong. I typically wear a 5.5 or 6, so I went up to a 7, they were way too big so I exchanged them for a 6, and they are still a little too big so I wear two pairs of socks with them to get a better fit. Now I have moved to Okinawa and there really isn't a need for snow boots here so I left my boots with my sister in Seattle, where there has been a surprising amount of snow recently. She loves them when it snows and when she goes on winter vacations. These boots were well worth the money. I would buy them again if my sister ruins them.

Best and warmest boots for harsh weather I've ever had. A little clunky but they are stylish and keep me upright while I'm trying to get around the snowballs! You can't ask for stilettos to do that!

I should have taken the advise of some reviewers here to order a size larger. I'm a perfect size 8 and ordered an 8. Now I've to exchange it with a 9. It's very well padded inside and due to that, it was too tight for me. It hugged my calves well too.

LOVE these Baffin IcelandsI was looking for winter boots that were super warm AND waterproof and these fit the bill. As much as I love my Uggs, my feet get wet after a couple hours of errands in wet/heavy snow. Ick. These are warm and toasty, and weatherproof! I actually bought the Baffin Madeleines, too, and decided to keep them both! (Oops!). I will use the Madeleines more for going out, and looking cute (yet staying warm and dry at the same time!).. The Icelands will be more of a work boot, when function is more important than form. The Icelands are a little more clunky and less sleek. I absolutely live how warm they are. I normally wear a 7, and the 7 fits me perfectly, but I hate wearing thick socks, so will only wear thin cotton or wool socks with these.

I ordered a size up after reading other reviews, and i ended up having to go to my usual size - and they are still a touch on the large side, even with the thick liner! (Extra strange because I have wide feet and often have to size up in boots anyway.) Overall these are great boots though. I just wore them nonstop for a week in Iceland in December, and they were incredibly warm and comfy the entire time, and they seem to have held up great. They look a little intense so I don't think I'll wear these anywhere that isn't super snowy, but such a great boot when trudging through snow drifts or over piles of ice.

This boot is not for wide calves! I could not even put my foot in it. Just because the gusset may allow it to open wider, there is no way to do that with the enclosed lacing system. Such a shame, as they were cute and appeared warm.

I love these boots. I bought them Christmas 2014. They were the first pair of true winter boots I had bought in years -- and just in time. I live in Boston and January/February was record breaking snow and cold. I am always freezing (especially my feet) and I was able to walk my dogs all winter and commute into the city without wanting to cry from cold, wet feet. I spoke so highly of them another woman I work with bought them last winter and she loves them too. I have them in white and may get an additional black pair this year. HIGHLY recommend these boots.

I read the reviews and I wear a 7 or 7 1/2 so I ordered a 8. Which will work out good for socks as well. These boots are not attractive. Im looking for warmth and my foot got warm just by trying them. Plus, they felt comfortable. I am satisfied with my purchase and would buy from this company again.

I lived in these boots for months due to this year's historic Boston winter. They are comfortable and eye catching, I got several compliments from people on these boots. They require a little bit of breaking in, as the back near the heel has a stiffer material. They are very easy to put on when you are wearing skinny jeans, leggings, or stockings. They are hard to tuck in jeans, though. I eventually figured out how to carefully fold the cuff of my jeans around my ankle in order to fit them into these boots. If you are concerned about that, I suggest going up a size.

Purchased this right before the historic snow, ice and cold weather we've had here in Boston (90 inches of snow in a month!) and these boots really saved me. They're so incredibly warm, waterproof (through large piles of snow) and get great traction even on ice and slush. They have the added bonus of being stylish enough to earn compliments as well!

These boots are wonderful. They are insulted so you do not really need socks. They look absolutely fantastic. Bring on the snow so I have a reason to wear them!
