I am very happy with this boot, as I have really skinny legs and small calves. Most boots are way too big for me and it's really hard to find boots to fit. I like the lower heel which is more comfortable for me and the sporty look. One minor drawback for me, I am 5 ft so the boot is slightly tall and when I sit, I can feel the top of the boot hitting the back of my knees. But am am willing to overlook that since the calves fit. Overall, very happy with this boot.

Great style and quality but the color was more brown than grey...it almost killed me but I had to return them.

I have bought more than 10 pairs of boots throughout the past year, looking for the perfect fit. I'm 5 feet tall with rather skinny legs and can't seem to find riding boots that DON'T look like galoshes on me. These were the ones. Unfortunately they were also the most expensive, but I can tell they are of high quality. They stand sturdily, the color matches the photo and seem like they'd be warm and cozy. The calf fit is tighter - if you have wide calves, these are NOT for you. They also run small, but because I assume that they'll stretch, I kept my regular size 6. The cons were the tighter fit plus the wonky zipper that I actually bruised my hand trying to zip and unzip (reason for 4 star rating).

I went to a store to try these on first, before ordering from here. The reviews are all over the place in terms of sizing, so it is hard to make a decision based on reviews. As a boot addict, here's what I can say about shopping for boots (or shoes in general). Do not get stuck on a number. Start with your known size and move up or down from there. In other words, there is nothing bad about having to go up a half or full size, ladies! It's just a number!!! Try on shoes at the end of the day when your feet are likely to be swollen from a full day of activity. If the shoes don't fit well when you first put them on, they will NEVER fit well. This concept of "they will stretch" is nonsense. They might give a little in width, but they will never get longer. My experience with this boot is that my normal size 8 was too short. Wearing non-cushioned Smartwool socks, I had to size up 1/2 size so that my toes would not hit the tip of the boot and the widest part of my foot (the ball of the foot) comfortably fit the widest part of the shoe. If you can't wiggle your toes, the boot is too small. The size 8 is too short and the 8.5 has more room than I'd like. That said, I went with the larger size and plan to wear more padded socks. I learned my lesson from buying the Phillip Riding inside zip last year in size 8 and ended up not wearing it much because I realized it is too short!

So sad, my boots arrived and they were all scuffed up on the top of the foot. Also I think they run a bit small, or "true to size".. not big. I am an 8.5/9 and got the 8.5 as everyone said they run big.. so now beyond the scuff am returning because they are too small. I will order new ones, as they are beautiful!

Overall happy with the purchase. Great for skinny calves. Taking a little longer to break in than I would like.

I have tried on several pairs of Frye boots and most don't fit, because I have a very high instep. I ordered these because they have a zipper in the back. The zipper definitely helped me get them on, but it is still pretty hard zipping the boots over the heel because it is not a really smooth zipper. The boots are a bit stiff but I am hoping that I will loosen them up from wearing them. The finish is nice and worn-looking which I what I wanted but to be honest, is not as soft as the Melissa boot. It's a tradeoff though--distressed look versus soft and supple.

These boots are lovely. The Leather is soft and rich brown. However, I am looking for a slim calf boot and these still are huge on me. I am a size 10 foot with a 13 1/2 inch calf. The calf on these is still at least an inch and a half too large. The bottom of the sole is also really slippery.

I never know whether I am a 9 1/2 or a 10 until I try it. I ordered the 9 1/2 and they are too small and feel quite narrow. The zipper is very hard to move and the leather is not as soft as I expected. With that said, the boot is so gorgeous with it's worn in patina that I am going to order the size 10. They look awesome with my jeans, and are perfect for people with smaller calves like me.

Love the boots... super soft and cute, zipper VERY sticky. Had to send first pair back because zipper would budge then it split... 2nd pair arrived and also sticky.

These boots are beautiful except for the zippers. The right boot zipper was difficult but I finally managed to get it to go up and down. The left one would not go down all the way. I struggled with it a while and gave up. Life is too short to fight with boot zippers! Other than that, gorgeous boots. I am very disappointed not to have them. Frye should get the message, I have seen other complaints about the zippers.

I love these boots. I hate the zipper! I have to work and work with them to get them zipped up. It's very frustrating. Frye should seriously do something about this as I've read several complaints about the very same thing. Also, I normally wear a 6.5 in all my shoes and boots. But, I had to have a 7 in this boot. Frye boots are my favorites as far as how they look and the longevity of them. My husband loves them as well.

What a beautiful boot. Too bad the shaft is almost 2 inches too big. I am 5'7", 150lb and wear a size 8, but my calves are slender at 14". This boot would be best at a 10.5 but even at a 10 (which was a tad too short in the foot), the calf was way too big and looks frumpy. Sad to return.

These boots are lovely, but still too big for my skinny calves. The 13 inches refers to the circumfrence of the opening, which is above the calf area on me (I am 5'7). The calf area is larger than 13 inches. It's hardly noticeable, but I can feel the difference. Otherwise, I would give 5 stars.

Beautiful boot, I'm petite and have slim calves and have a hard time finding boots that hug my calves and fit well below my knees which these do. Unfortunately, the camel color is not at all as pictured, it is more of a pale mud color that does not make the boots justice, otherwise, I do recommend as long as you don't mind pulling up the zipper every time, just a bit hard to get on.

I ordered the dark brown soft vintage and love them. But like many other posts, the calf runs small at the top. I'm 5'10" with a 33" inch inseam and a 14" calf. Around the top of the boot it is a bit tight. Elsewhere is fine. I don't consider myself to have larger calves, I would think mine are normal to thin for my height. I ordered an 8.5. Straight leg jeans tuck in ok. The lower part of the boot isn't tight so there is room for the jeans. I'm assuming the top may stretch a bit over time.

Perfect. Very, nice leather, tall enough and a nice slim calf size. Zipper is not great. Watched these on Zappos for months, walked into Macy's DT Minneapolis and discounted bought the last pair. Gorgeous.

These are beautiful boots and I really wish they worked out but I have to return them. First off, I cannot get the left boot to zip up no matter how hard I try. It is just stuck! Also, they were just too small for my calves. I measure 15" but because my shoes size is 6½ (sometimes 7) the circumference is a good deal smaller than stated.

Just got my boots. Love the look. Fit is good. A bit tight but think they will loosen up. True to size but tight across the top of my foot.

This boot is the perfect camel color (not too yellow, not too orange). I've had the boots for several months now and consistently have people stop to ask me where I got them. Beautiful leather and comfortable from the first wear. As other reviewers have mentioned the zippers sometimes seem to stick for no reason, but it's not a significant issue. I also bought a black pair of Frye boots around the same time and have the same issue with the zippers. The boots are snug in the calf which is helpful for keeping jeans tucked in. Overall, I'm very happy with these boots and hope to have them for many years.

Snug in the calf area on average size leg and zipper less than smooth. Comfortable and look great once on.

These boots run true to size and are absolutely gorgeous. The leather is high quality and I'm sure the boots would last forever if taken care of properly. Sadly, I have to return them as the boot was just too tight around my calves, which are average size. I can get the boots on and zipped up fine with just a sock but there is no way I could wear leggings or skinny jeans with them. I am now on a mission to find the perfect pair of Frye Boots to wear with skinny jeans. They obviously make a very high quality product - I just need to find the right one for me.

First ordered these in a 8, way too small. Returned them and got 8.5 which fits like a dream. I wear an 8 always and can sometimes even wear a 7.5 plus I have really narrow feet. I was surprised that I would need a bigger size. So if you're on the fence, I would suggest going a size up. These are really nice super high quality boots. Can't wait to get mine broken in.

I have had these for almost a year and I love them! I have not seen anyone else with the antiqued look. I get a ton of compliments on them and I love that they look like they have been worn for 10 years. They do not have any tread on the sole so when you get them make sure to add a pad or scuff the bottom up a little bit so that you won't slip. Otherwise they are perfect! I definitely want to own more Frye boots!
