These boots do not disappoint. Frye boots never do. They are comfortable and already worn in. I have three pairs of Frye boots. They have been extraordinary from the first wear and then only have gotten better with time. They are super expensive and worth every penny. I would rather own one pair of Frye boots than many of any another brand. And the customer service is great, too. A cobbler ruined a pair of mine trying to replace the zipper and Frye has offered to give me an equivalent pair for free!

Finally - a boot for an athletic calf! It's taken me a while to find this type of fit. I could wear these all day, every day. I also have the Frye Harness and these fit so much better because the calf width on the Harness is still too wide for me. I chose the Cognac Stone color because I was looking for more of a distressed look. I love the fit, the color and the fact the calf width is finally realistic for a lean calf.

LOVE these boots! I am 5'9 and it is hard to find really tall boots. These are some of the tallest that Frye makes (I have found). They are so comfortable too (need to break them in a bit, of course) but they are solid. They have a vintage vibe and can be dressed up or down. The leather is thick, yet soft. Well made and very cute!! Such a good purchase!

Best boots ever. Perfectly roughed-up. I had to get mine stretched in order to get them on, but that means the calves are nice and snug rather than swimming. Love them.

Great boots! Comfortable from the first moment input them on my feet - no break in time. Lug sole makes them more stable in the slippery weather.

I'm a big Frye fan - I think this is my 6th pair of Frye boots. Love these boots! I have athletic calves and had them stretched a little and they fit great! The lug bottoms are especially nice for winter and work.

Bear with me OK? I ordered this boot and a small mix-up resulted in my receiving the Carmen 3-strap. Zappos made everything right immediately and sent the correct boot and a return label. About the Carmen. I couldn't help trying them on and now have them in my shopping basket for next time. They are amazingly gorgeous. Now to the Carson. The antiqued look is perfect; the leather is so soft! I ordered my usual size (8 1/2) based on another pair of Fryes that I sized up and found to be too big. The foot is a perfect comfortable fit. They do take a bit of persistence to get on. My daughters both ride horses and there is type of sock sold at tack shops specifically made to get those tall boots on. Worth buying to break in all boots. Because these have a lug sole a trick I found helpful is to put them on in a carpeted room. I am able to push my foot forward without the boot sliding. I may take these to the cobbler in the future to have the very top stretched a bit. I'm going to wear them first to see how much the leather eases though. My daughter summed these boots up perfectly: sometimes good things require a little work.

I am almost always a 9.5, but the 9 fits better in these. No problems with getting them on or off. The top of the boot is wide enough to fit jeans into, but not a lot of extra space... I like the look of a wider/loose shaft around my calf, but everything else about this boot is so perfect that I can get over it. Love that it is a pull on style- no zippers to break after years of wear. A very well designed combo of western and boho charm. Love them.

I had looked at these boots 1 year before purchasing. They were so expensive and couldn't convince myself it was worth it...but the rest of the year I tried to find something great as these, and never did. I finally pulled the trigger and have never been so happy! I usually wear a 7 1/2 but occasional 7. These would have been huge if i had got a 7 1/2. I got the 7 and they fit great. I always found that tall boots bowed out near my knee, these are perfect (thinner shaft). I get compliments on these every time I wear them. Love them. Go for it!

These boots are gorgeous! The distressing is perfect, these look great with everything from jeans and T-shirts to dresses. Love them! They do run small, which is pretty common for Frye boots, and the calf was a little tight. I did take the boots to a department store and had the stretched slightly, now they fit like a glove.

Stupidly expensive but I can't seem to wear anything else now. The fit is perfection. A real struggle to get on and off the first few times, then they relax and the problem disappears. The padded footbed is more comfortable than going barefoot. The heel height feels great, enough of a heel for a lift, but you can walk anywhere -- including in the snow with the lug sole -- all day in comfort. I got them in black and have polished them a bit to make them look okay at work. Every day. I really need to try to wear something else in my closet.

Awesome boot! Based on what some of the other reviewers said i ordered half a size down and am very glad I did, the fit is perfect. Frye does it again! And of course, Zappos rules!

I read the previous reviews and was concerned that these boots would be very tight around the calf area and difficult to take on and off. I did not find any of that to be the case when my boots arrived. The Carson lug boots fit great and I did not have any tightness in the ankle area as previous reviewers had mentioned. I did have that issue with my Frye Harness 12R's until they were broken in. The Carson lug boots are lovely and they smell good; I do not regret this purchase.

I am a huge Frye boot supporter. I work at a university and do a lot of walking. I was afraid these boots wouldn't be comfortable and that I wouldn't get enough good wear out them to justify pay this price. Wrong! I bought these a month ago and they are absolutely the most comfortable boot I've ever owned! I literally put them on out of the box and have lived in them ever since! I wear them shopping all day, walking across campus, with legging, jeans, dresses. This is one of the best investments I've made. I had to make myself take them off and wear another pair of shoes, just so I wouldn't live in them. The heel height is just right and very easy to walk in. The shaft height is perfect being just below the knee. Just do it...you won't regret it! I've had loads of compliments. I usually wear 10.5 or sometimes an 11 depending on the quality of the shoe/boot. I purchased a 10 and they are exactly what I needed.

I love this boot! I wanted a taller boot with a western look that I could wear with skirts & dresses. Looks great, comfortable and fits true to size. A lot of reviews said order a half size smaller, but if I did they would have been too tight. I want this boot now in the other color!

After reading some of the other reviews, I ordered a half size smaller and they fit perfectly. They were very difficult to put on because of the narrow shaft, but after about 15 minutes and a few times taking them on and off, I was able to get them on all the way. Good thing they have pull tabs! The boots look beautiful and although they are distressed up close, it is just the right amount. The finish on the boots when they arrived was a bit dull but after wiping them off they looked much better. I waited months to get these boots and am so excited that I finally took the plunge and that Zappos had my size in stock!

I normally wear a 6.5 in all footwear. However, from previous comments, I decided to size down to a 6. And once I got them on they were beautiful!! I ordered the cognac distressed color. They look very distressed in person. Which I was ok with. However, thanks to the beautiful Emily Maynard, I returned and exchanged for the dark brown destroyed instead. The calf width is what I was concerned about. they measure as a 15 cm. They were tight but could definitely be worn comfortably on my muscular calves, after a little breaking in of course. Also, thanks to the beautiful leather, they stretch and I wore them immediately all around the house to see if they would stretch out enough, which they did. Even enough in just one 24 hour period to go from being initially tight around my bear leg, to being able to fit over skinny jeans. This is such a cute, stylish boot. It can be dressed up or down and is durable enough to be worn out in the barn to care for the horses and can clean up to go out with a skirt or casual dress. And I have very high arches and they are so supportive. They were my first pair of frye boots and they will not be the last!

I wanted the lug sole for winter weather, but I wasn't sure how I felt about the stone antiqued look. If this is you, get the Frye weatherproof dressing with this boot. That's what I did, and it really toned down the antiquing, and enhanced the richness of color, while still preserving the character of the leather. I am very pleased with the look after applying the weatherproof dressing. If you don't want to tone down the antiquing at all, then use a spray rather than a rub-in dressing.
A note about fit: I am usually a 10.5-11 in boots. Frye either fit me in the 10, or they don't fit. The 11's are generally huge on me. Fortunately, the 10 fits me in the Carson styles. I would say it is a generous cut as Fryes go (and I have a med-wide foot with a square toe). So size down if between sizes. I prefer a fitted calf, and this boot has that.

I really, really wanted these boots to work. Beautiful, simple style that I've been searching for in a boot for a couple of years and comfortable lug sole too. Living in the Northeast, I really wanted a lug sole to save me from a slip and fall on icy winter sidewalks. I ordered 1/2 size down from my usual 7. Struggled a bit to get my bare leg into the boot but once in the footbed fit beautifully. The calf was ridiculously snug but I thought if I could just get them stretched the boot would be perfect. Sadly, even after stretching, I could barely fit my 14.5 inch calf in the boot with just a legging on. I really want a boot I can wear with jeans, so sadly, back it goes.

I normally wear a size 6-6.5 but I ordered a 7 even though reviews said they ran a little large because I wanted to wear them with plenty of socks and/or a cushion insert, plus based on the other reviews I knew the shaft ran narrow. It does, but then I run hills so I have large calves (15" at the top). I ordered and received them in Cognac and they're exactly what I wanted. I had no problem getting my foot in and with a wide front foot and narrow heel they still encased my foot nicely. The calves were tight of course. I couldn't quite pull them up all the way. I've been using spray rubbing alcohol and magazines while wearing them for a week and I have them just about where I want them. I must say having nice enough leather that you can manipulate it to make a custom fit boot is about as good as it gets. I wish they were a little taller since my calves are long, but they're about the best fitting talls I've had. I'd love to have them in every color.

A natural size 7 in Frye boots, I first purchased a size 7.5 based on the reviews that they run small. The 7.5 was too large so I purchased a 7, which was also too large, now a 6.5 which is still too large although I could barely get my foot down the shaft. I love the look of the boot, especially the Cognac. I'm just perplexed about the erratic sizing. My foot literally swam around in the 6.5. Awesome looking boots though.

So these are just about the coolest looking, most comfortable boots ever made. The problem? Due to high arches I can't slip them on or off without plastic bags on my feet. Come on Frye, give us girls some half zippers on the inside ankle area of your boots so we can get them on and off easily without sacrificing that Frye style!

"Aren't Frye boots supposed to last forever?" This is what I thought, but after less than a year of owning these boots the rubber on the heel has worn through to the stacked leather heel, and the leather on the stacked heel itself is also peeling off in 2 different places. The treads on the foot bed are almost completely gone, slippery like a pair of old running sneakers. The quality of the rubber on the sole is AWFUL. Nothing like the soles on other Frye boots I have owned for years such as their Harness boots. Close to 10 years and they still have plenty of life in them. The people at the Frye store told me that it is "normal wear and tear" and is not covered by the warranty. Normal wear and tear?? I've had these boots for 10 months, and only worn them 6 of those months. It's ridiculous to charge almost $400 for boots that I now need to get resoled. Frye said they would resole them for me, but it would be the same sole. I am taking them elsewhere to get them soled with Vibram soles, something that will last but will surely cost me a lot. On the positive side, the style is great, the leather is beautiful, and I get a ton of compliments on these boots. But considering this is the most money I've spent on a pair of shoes, I'm really disappointed in the poor quality of the sole.

I bought these boots but returned them. I thought that the finish was a bit too "antiqued" coming out of the box. The fit was true to size for boots and they are very comfortable.

This is a beautiful boot. I orderd a half size smaller because many of the reviews mentioned that they run big and because 9.5 was the only size available. I usually wear a size 10. I was so happy to get them. They were just what I always looked for in a boot except I couldn't get my foot into them. I can't say if they are true to size etc because my foot never made it into the shoe part. I have a very high arch and the ankle part of the boot is just too narrow for me to push my foot in. I'm however, going to reorder them in a 10 when it becomes available. I'm wondering though if Fry boots are just not made with high arched footed people in mind. I'll try them once more because they were really nice.
