I almost sent these back and that made me very sad because I loved the look of them. Before I packed them up I tried one last time to get them on. Then I remembered someone saying to use a plastic grocery bag for the ease of slipping a boot on. It worked! I wore them around the house awhile before I knew it, I could wear them with socks. Just a small break and stretch in period was all I needed to do. I am so glad I gave them a second chance. I love them!

Love these boots. Beautiful and comfortable. I will be wearing these a lot. Usually wear 8 or 8.5 and 8 fits great!

Beautiful shoes! I usually have 7.5 (got 7.5) and they seem to be more like 8. However, perfect for cold winter and socks.

Love these. Officially the most expensive shoes I own, but totally going to earn their keep. Comfortable, relaxed leather but firm enough to keep shape. A classy cowgirl boot.

I loved these boots but they were not a wide calf boot and were very difficult to get on. I just wish they would have been a little bit wider in the calf.

Beautiful boot with pliable leather that would be resilient to scuffs. Great style. I have a high arch and could not come close to getting foot in the boot for my normal size. Order larger.

These boots are beautiful, but like a small minority of other reviewers, I too had to send them back and exchange them for another pair of the same boots. The first pair I received was a very dark brown pair with red undertones, and the leather was very stiff. The "stone aging" left a lot of white/grey on the leather, and I really didn't love them the way I thought I would. I called zappos, they sent me another pair to compare, and they were MUCH better. The color and aging was much truer to the picture and the leather was thicker and softer, no breaking in required. Now I'm obsessed. Clearly these boots vary a lot from pair to pair.

Love this boot! So comfortable on the first day I wore them. The distressed leather is so beautiful and rich looking in the brown. I get compliments every time I wear them. Looks good with jeans, leggings, skirts and dresses. Well worth the price in my opinion. I have had them for a year and a half and wear them at least once or twice a week.

Awesome boot. First pair I received had an imperfection in the stitching and leather alignment that made it almost impossible to pull on. But quickly returned those and received a new pair, and have been wearing them constantly -- and I mean constantly to work and at work -- through Boston's horrible winter and storms this year. (I did oil them before taking them into the salty slush, ice, and snow, but they look great and have given me solid traction). they're better than the "winter boot" I had bought from another reputable firm that kept rubbing the skin off my ankle. couldn't be happier with these. fit from day one and were immediately comfortable. as mentioned by others, they are tight around the calf -- I'm average height and average weight. So I've only worn them over skinny jeans, with tights, as well as just against the skin in florida. As I slogged through the snow drifts and brutal windchill with warm feet and legs on my walk to work, I kept thinking I had to write a rave review of these boots.

True to size. Traditional court shoe. Well made with great support. Not the most stylish, but comfort and (especially) support are more important!

Love this boot! As an owner of many pairs of Frye boots, This is one of my very favorite ones. The leather is exquisite and they are one of the most comfortable. I, myself, have learned to only go for the comfortable ones because it is not worth it to me. I usual wear a 7 1/2, after reading the reviews, ordered the 7 and it fit perfect. Rugged, classy, and comfort. Cannot go wrong. Beautiful boot. One of my favorites!

I love these boots - super flattering to your leg and very comfortable. Have to say they do run large though. I am a true 7.5, but often go up to an 8 in boots so I can wear thicker socks. With these, I feel pretty I could've worn a 7, but they are more narrow than most boots, so I stuck with the 7.5. I have a really high instep and always have trouble finding boots in my size that I can fit my foot down into. These slid on easily and still fit nice and close around the top of by calf. The calf is not super duper narrow, however these would definitely not work if you have a large calf unless you wear a pretty large shoe size as well. Last point: mine were super distressed. Looked beat to death and just plain sad - they were also a very light brown instead of the rich dark shown in the photo. I've rubbed them down with mink oil a couple times now and they look similar to the photo, but still not quite that dark.

I love these boots! Comfortable right out of the box and I wear them all day. I get so many compliments every time I wear them. They go with jeans, leggings, dresses, whatever you want to wear them with.

Normally, I am a size 10. Based on other reviews, I ordered a 1/2 size smaller. The 9.5 fit like a dream. Very comfortable boots. At first a little narrow, after 2 weeks of wear they have relaxed a little and are perfect.

Love these boots. Super comfortable right away. The leather is softer and more supple than most Frye boots. Size is true fit. Had to order them twice because the first pair was so distressed that the stitching was torn loose. so I'd advise inspecting them carefully when you get them. I used mink oil on them and it didn't change the color or worn look at all.

These are beautiful. Not as weathered as I'd expected. I am between a 6.5 and a 7. I am glad I went with the 6.5-it has room to spare. These run extremely narrow in the leg. Crazy narrow. Don't think I'll be fitting skinny jeans in them-that's how skinny they are. They are beautiful and sexy.Super comfortable. They feel almost padded. I have several pairs of Fryes. These are the most comfortable boot I own-more than Melissa, Veronica or Engineer.

I bought these boots in the distressed look two years ago. They are my absolute favorite boots ever. I take a 7½ to 8, but have these in 7. They fit perfectly. So recently I ordered a pair in black, size 7, but I could not even get my feet into them. For some reason I have often had the experience that black pants fit smaller than other clothes. Has anyone else experienced this? So I think I will reorder in a 7½. But here is some advice for those of you who like the distressed look as I do. Last week I took my boots to a shoe repair to have new heels and soles. When I picked them up today, the kind man (who speaks no English) had actually polished them with dark brown. They no longer look distressed, but I sure do! I know that he thought he was doing something nice for me, but I am sad, although amused. How do I explain to someone from a different culture that the distressed look is something Americans will pay for!? So beware if you take them to a shoe repair. Let them know that the distressed look is what you want; otherwise, they may think they are doing you a service to make them look new. Can anyone tell me how to get the distressed look back? I have read online how to do it, but am nervous to mess with them and it seems to be a long involved process.

Absolutely AWESOME boots. They fit perfectly and go with everything. Frye is such an amazing brand and I know I will have these boots for a VERY long time.

Do yourself a favor and buy a boot horn when you buy these boots. Everyone is correct - very very difficult to get on. However, once you do, you will love them. They look great and feel very comfortable. Order down a half size.

Amazing boots. Beautiful color, looks just like the picture. Size wise: Make sure you order an entire size down. I am usually a 7/7.5 but ended up in a size 6! The calf part is pretty narrow so if you have big calves don't order these boots. They will stretch out a little though I think mainly in the foot part!

I love, love, love these boots! Usually wear a size 8 but in Fryes a 7 1/2...and the 7 1/2 is perfect in this boot! Fun to wear, super comfortable and look so Awesome! Zappos is second to none!

I was really apprehensive to get these for a few reasons. First, I did not know about the sizing: I ordered an 8 when I usually wear an 8½ in Frye and in most other shoes. I listened to the reviews and am so glad that I did! They fit perfectly (minus the hard to get on ankle part, which I solved with a boot horn). Second, I worried about the leather and the look of them. I ordered the black color, and it looks so much better than the picture! The picture makes it look flat and boring, but in person it is a beautiful soft black with beautiful rugged markings on the leather (not too rugged or too much). It is just perfect. Third, I worried about the lug sole being too noticeable or too thick. It is very subtle in person, barely noticeable when you are standing up. I am 5'7"-5'8", and the height of the boots comes up to 2" under the bottom of my knee. The leather smells amazing, as all Frye boots do. Ouch, it hurts to spend this much on a pair of boots, but I know how long I woll have these and have use for these. I highly recommend them!

I absolutely love these! I looked around for over nine months for a pair of black boots. Although I never thought that I would spend this much on a pair of shoes I have zero regrets about doing so. I followed others' advice and ordered half a size smaller than my regular 9½. I am glad that I did. Although they are still a little tough to get my feet into, once they are in the footbed fits perfectly. I have not walked around in them yet for more than two hours at a time but I foresee no issues. They are just perfect.

If you're serious about boots, then you MUST have a pair of Frye boots. These particular boots are the highest quality, best looking pair of boots I've ever owned. The leather is thick, soft and luscious. These are the real deal. Yes, pricey, but worth every dollar. I bought my normal size, 9. They are a little big, could probably wear 8.5, but I can wear a thick sock comfortably in 9. I have muscular calves and they fit perfectly, not too snug. THESE ARE SPECTACULAR BOOTS!!!
