I bought this shoe in an 8.5, because I am usually between 8.5-9, and it was too small. Most of the reviews say to get your smaller size but I disagree. Very comfortable shoe, and really pretty.

Love these shoes! Plenty comfortable for walking or work. I've had them for about a year and I live in them. I got regular laces instead of the velvet ones, and I get them polished every once in a while after they look pretty worn out. Just ordered my second pair, since mine were starting to wear out from use!

These are great with my skinny and straight pants. A very versatile shoe and perfect for when I want to be in flat shoes but still want to be cute. I usually wear an 8.5, but when these came I saw they had euro sizing. The 8.5 translated to a 40, and I'm usually a 39. Exchanged for the 8s and they are perfect. So these are true to size in that sense, but if you go by the US converted sizes, they are big. (My brother-in-law, who is obsessed with men's shoes, thinks these are the coolest because they are ladies' men's shoes.) I got the brown. It was hard not to order the charcoal, but I needed some brown in my shoe wardrobe.

Absolutely love these shoes. I wear 9.5 in most brands except Toms but the 9.5 is a little loose. I'm still keeping them, they are cute and extremely comfortable flats. Can wear them all day long. Fabulous.

I am so in love with these shoes. They are so perfect with just about everything. I wear them to the office and they go with dress slacks, casual wear, and also jeans on Friday. I was afraid they would look too manly, but they really don't. The left shoe took a little breaking in where the shoes bends at the top of the foot, but they have conformed to my feet now. I wear a size 11 and was disappointed that these were sold out in in black. I so wish I had another pair. I hope Born continues this style and this could definitely be a staple shoe.

I am about to go to Italy for six weeks, and will be walking A LOT. I wanted to find comfortable shoes that were nevertheless cute and stylish. THESE ARE IT! Seriously. Getting an oxford was a stretch for me... I'm normally a mary-jane heels and boots gal. But I took a chance on these for a different look. They are adorable with skirts, wide leg or skinny jeans. The ribbon lace gives them a pop of sass. And they were LIKE BUTTER on my foot the minute I took them out of the box and put them on. True to size.

I love me new Born Arletta shoes. They feel and look great. I especially love wearing them for 'casual dress-up.' They got me through the holidays this year and are always ready to have a good time and a good walk!

I have these in Black too. Super comfy and I don't care if I look like I am wearing men's shoes. They are true to size too.

I love this shoe! I try not to wear them everyday so they don't wear out fast, but they are so comfy, super cute and took no "breaking in" time. Love Born shoes!

This is a lovely little oxford. The sole is rubber, and has a good non-slip grip without looking chunky or ruining the line of the shoe. This shoe is also unlined, which I appreciate. I have a slightly wide foot with a slightly narrow heel. This leads to a lot of slippage in the heel of my shoes and I ruin the heel lining of shoes all the time. This shoe is unlined and has conformed to the shape of my foot beautifully! This shoe definitely runs a little wide. I usually have to wear shoes for a week or two before they really start feeling okay. This shoe fit my slightly-wide foot straight out of the box with no break-in time. I was pleased to see that Born had included a set of regular laces (taped the to underside of the box lid) as well as the super-cute velvet laces as shown in the pictures. Velvet is all well-and-good for the winter, but I intend to wear these year-round! I have worn them with trousers, jeans, and skirts and they look cute with everything. These are definitely a five-star shoe!

Love these! They feel true to size, although I did order 1/2 size up (9) when I normally wear an 8.5 because I wanted to wear these with thicker socks, and this worked out perfectly. A really handsome shoe, and great (very sturdy) non-skid soles. Looks like they will last and take lots of winter walking, which I do! Thank you for a great deal!

I just received these shoes for Christmas! They fit true to size and they have moderate to excellent support. They are very cushiony. They are super cute and comfy. I asked for oxfords because I do not own any and because I have another pair of Borns that are comfortable. I asked for the gray ones because they will match with a lot of my clothes. They are perfect! I totally recommend them

I usually waffle between an 8 and an 8.5—the 8.5 were far too long for me. I have wide feet, and these fit and feel excellent! Were it not for the length, I could've literally worn these out of the box and straight to work. Ordered the 8 the same day the 8.5 came in the mail and got the shoes THE NEXT DAY. Well done, Zappos, well done indeed! I've never owned Børn shoes before, but I'm already recommending them to others. These are super comfortable, look great, feel great, have excellent traction... and I appreciate the extra set of laces included in the box! Can't ask for much more in the way of style and comfort.

I don't often write a review, but...out of the box today, my reaction was-stylish, soft as butter as another reviewer said, and as comfortable as you would expect a Born shoe to be. They are brown, not a cognac brown, but still a very nice color. Velvet laces add a nice touch. I will expect to wear these a very long time. Look great with skinny jeans and will be cute with a skirt and tights too. You cannot go wrong with a Born shoe, just so glad on trend oxfords were available. Most of them don't have the support or comfort or durability of a Born shoe. Mi was hesitant to shell out the money, but they are well worth it.

Very cute shoe which I got in brown. I was afraid it would be too delicate and feminine, compared to what I was looking for in an oxford/brogue type shoe, but it's perfect. It goes well with either trousers or skirts so it's very versatile. It's stylish without being obtrusive about it the way a heavier shoe might be. I was also happy to find that it came with plain laces (sort of waxed-cord laces) as well as the velvet, as I wasn't crazy about the velvet and thought I would have to buy different laces separately. Also comfortable; these are more than I generally spend on a pair of shoes (my first pair from Born) and the soft soles and the support make the price very worthwhile. After walking in them for a while, though, they do start to dig into the top of my toe-knuckes, where the top of the shoe creases. Nothing I can't live with, though, and I walk miles per day. In fact, I wish I could wear these every day, but I'm afraid of wearing them out so I restrict myself to every other day.

I bought these oxfords to add a little class to my wardrobe, and they did just that. They're very professional looking and the velvet laces add a feminine touch. They're very well made and expensive looking for a reasonable price. The soles are also more substantial than some of the oxfords I've tried on, which is a definite bonus. I normally wear a 6.5 in dress shoes or heels and a 7 in athletic shoes or clogs, so the 6.5 Arlettas fit perfectly with dress socks. They were comfortable right out of the box and I've worn them every day since!

I really loved these shoes. They are so stylish but with lots of support. They're beautifully crafted and really comfortable. I'd go up a half size, though.

I am absolutely in love with these shoes, to the point that I can see buying a second pair when these wear out. There is not as much as support as you would think from Born shoes, but they are comfortable and cute. The velvet laces keep them from being too masculine.

This shoe is fabulous! The details are very nice, such as the velvet laces (regular laces are included). And the shoe feels very sturdy, I've tried on dozens of oxford style shoes and they all felt very cheap and thin, but not these. The Arletta has excellent rubber sole with tons of traction (I walk to work, and they feel great!) The insoles are removable, but they are glued down on a small portion, but it is super easy to get them out. I have both colors, and they are absolutely amazing. I'm normally between a 7 to 7 1/2, and went with the 7 on these ones. They were tight the first time I wore them, but broke in beautifully.

These babies are my go-to shoes in the fall and winter months. They are absolutely fantastic. I remember when I ordered them that I was a bit iffy because of the price, but they are completely worth it. They are cute and comfortable and amazingly durable. I've worn them a lot, but the soles hardly show it. I love the velvet laces, and I love wearing these with skirts and tights, but they go with just about anything. They're perfect for all-day walking, too (trust me, I'm a student at a very hilly campus). I'm actually thinking I might need them in charcoal, too. :)

I am annoyed! Yesterday when I went to look at these shoes on your website they were not here. Previously, I had asked my mom for these shoes for Christmas and I told her earlier today she couldn't buy them for me because they are no longer sold and now I see that they are here =/

I'm on my feet all the time at work. I usually wear sneakers because I can't stand anything slightly uncomfortable on my feet. Thanks to these shoes, I'm wearing shoes again. The leather is soft and supple. Breaking them in? Non-issue. These shoes felt like butter as soon as I took out of the box. The bonus is, that they are super stylish and I have gotten numerous compliments. Highly recommend them. Happy feet.

This is my first review of anything, ever. But I just had to say how incredibly happy I am with these shoes. The gray color is great and it goes with everything. The look of this shoe is so classy and cool. They fit me perfectly and felt great from the moment I first put them on. I hesitated to buy such a manly looking shoe, but they look very feminine on, and I love the velvet shoe strings. I have so much trouble finding a shoe to fit my narrow heal and still have room for my wider toe area. These are perfect for my duck feet. The leather is soft and the soles are great. I can't say enough about these shoes. I have received many compliments on them at work. Great job Born.

I needed a brown shoe for work that covered my entire foot (unlike ballet flats) and these are surprisingly attractive and I love the velvet laces which soften the look even more. I wore them 6 hours today with not a sore spot, with a thin trouser sock. I think they will be great for the long haul. They are a much more substantial shoe than some of the other oxford-looking shoes out there, but not bulky at all.
