Tarmac 22--a solidly built, well-organized travel carry-on. Quality of components is top-notch, no problem with breakage after 2 years of use. Fixed compartments (shoe pouch, outer/inner compartments, etc) well thought-out. Wheels have taken a fair amount of abuse on cobblestone streets and show no sign of failure. Expandable size has saved me some hassle on many trips after buying more than I had planned. Extras like lockable zips are a nice touch. Supposed to be within *most* carry-on size requirements and I've yet to have a problem but you may wish to compare with Tarmac 20 as some airlines are instituting smaller/more strict carry-on requirements. Definitely worth the price and the EC lifetime guarantee for this series will have you covered forever. Great bag.

Got my Tarmac 22 based on the testimonials on this site. Went back and forth between several luggage choices, but it was the lifetime warranty and organizational features that drew me towards Eagle Creek. This is my first Eagle Creek bag and I can tell that it won't be my last. Used it on a flight to Beijing and after seeing how well it handled all my belongings as well as souvenirs from the trip (and there were a lot), I can honestly recommend it to all my friends. Planning to use it for all my upcoming domestic flights as well (at least once a quarter) and I'll most likely be buying the pack-it cubes suggested for it in the near future.

This is, without a doubt, the best designed and ergonomically friendly travel bag. It is the largest carry-on that will fit in the overhead bin of all aircraft- absent the commuters.

I have always been a Samsonite fan, but the Tarmac 22 is by far the best piece of luggage I've owned!
After seeing them used by a friend, I also purchased some of the cubes and a folder.I am amazed at the amount of things I can fit in the bag.
Looking forward to adding a tote bag soon.

This wonderful piece of Eagle Creek luggage is my favorite, with the mulitiple inside zip compartments and great look and color, (mine is light green), but unfortunately, it does notpass the carry on luggage requirements of many foreign Flight requirements. I have been stopped multiple times in Europe and Asia when it did not fit into the metal box that is used as a standard. While it measures as if it should fit, it doesn't fit into thesetight fitting metal test frames. Thus, I've had to argue, fight, and try to get my important documents on board, even once being escorted through security via a back route. Otherwise, I've had to re-check the bag through baggage, when a fee must then be incurred with many airlines.I would re-classify this bag, as not being regulation for carry on. It fits perfectly in the overhead bins, but this argument does not hold with the government flight regulations.I am looking at downsizing, unfortunately, to your 20Tarmac.A 21Tarmac could be aperfect fit.
Keep up your great designs and colors

I fly 40 - 45 weeks per year. After years of purchasing 'disposable' luggage that lasted less than 6 months, I found the Eagle Creek Tarmac 22. 1.5 years later, it's a bit dirty but in great shape. I have plenty of room to pack for 4 days on the road, and the Pack-it solutions insure my clothes remain wrinkle free! It's dependable, versatile, sturdy, and light. It is PERFECT.

This suitcase has been with us all over Europe and the US.It holds a Ton, and with the cubes, anything can be found quickly. It has spaces for everything, and if packed properly it will hold a month or more of travel clothing, accessories, and maps. For the 2-3 day trip it holds all your coats, computer, shoes and things we tend to take on short trips, so you have just one bag to carry into the 4 Seasons or Embassy Suites.
I hope they never stop making this suitcase!

After having Eagle Creek a suitcase/backpack for 10 or 12 years, I decided to replace it.Not because it was damaged or worn, but because I wanted something with wheels for those non-adventure trips and I knew Eagle Creek is the best.My old suitcase (World Traveler), has been all over the world, visiting at least 10 different countries plus lots of trips within the U.S. and it still is in good shape. They are literally made like a tank!Plus they hold lots of stuff, are well balanced and good looking. My new suitcase, The Tarmac 22, is a joy to pull through the airport and holds enough stuff for a week, easily.Plus it can be carried on the plane. What more could you want?

What a great bag! I've gone on 3 trips this year with this bag. It easily holds a weeks worth of clothing (OK, I'm a pretty good packer), and most important, holds it securely. After a trumatic incident with underwear strewn over the baggage belt because of a broken zipper on my last suitcase, I really appreciate the secure interior. Rolls nicely, too.

I chose this bag over Tumi and TravelPro and could not be happier with my decision.I am I bought it first and foremost because of the advertised light weight, and it is indeed light.Yet the absence of mass in NO WAY makes detracts from the bag s ruggedness. It feels really solid, never gave me any reason to worry that it was going to break, rip, or fall apart. But then, my World Journey (ca. 1994) is still in excellent shape, so I am not surprised! The way it opens in two like an oyster takes a little getting used to, but the added organization this provides is very helpful.Pack-Its fit just right, which pleased me in a sick sort of way.The front top pocket works great for handy 3-1-1 access.I have not had to check it in yet, which was as hoped - as others have noted, it fits narrow-wise in the overheads of mid-size planes if you load it in top first.Have to see how the international travel goes, though.(Truth be told, the dimensions at the widest points are non-conforming, particularly the depth of the bag near the bottom, which is closer to the 11 inch advertised as the expanded size rather than 9.5 inches. So you ll be unable to fit it into the test box at most check-in counters. But assuming you do not go through those, you will probably be just fine if flying within the US.)Also, the No Matter What warranty puts this bag head and shoulders above the competition! Thanks as ever, Eagle Creek, for making a truly outstanding bag!

As a soft adventure tour leader in Mexico, I have the need for bags that can handle a variety of situations from airports to train stations to dirt roads and even some rocky trails. My gear from other companies never could hack it, so I bought the Tarmac 22. I can honestly say that it is the best luggage purchase I have ever made. The Tarmac 22 has exceeded my expectations at every turn. It has handled everything that my other gear could not. Furthermore, it looks great. It is easy to load and organized in such a way that I can find everything I need in no time. I also made a point to buy some extra accessories so that I could use the Eagle Creek Pack-It system with my Tarmac bag. It is incredible how well this works together.Packing is now more simple than it has ever been and I am able to find anything I need when I need it. Now, for the first time in my travel career, I never fret packing for trips. I simply wash everything and put it back in the pack-it folders in preparation for my next trip. I feel more prepared than I have ever been. Another feature that really impresses me about the Tarmac 22 is how well balanced it is. My wheeled bags from other companies would always fall over when fully loaded. Not so for my Tarmac. Whether it is fully loaded or not, it always stands upright, even when I have other bags stacked on top of it. And, to boot, it carries that great No Matter What lifetime warranty. You really cannot go wrong with the Tarmac ES 22.

Great bag. Have used a Briggs and Riley for over 10 years and love this bag because of it's light weight and compartments.Just spent 18 days in China and it was great. In the U.S. a trick to make it fit in the overhead is place the bag in top first and wheels up.Saves space.

I use this belt to hold horse treats when I ride. It was smaller than I expected and the pocket was tighter than I expected. But the quality was great and I love the elastic, clipped belt.

I've had this bag for 1.5 years now and it is terrific.Well designed & executed. Not cheap, but it should pay for itself in baggage fees that I don't have to pay.Great warranty.

Purchased one 3 weeks ago. I've dragged it around the trains and subways of NYC on two week-long trips since then.No regrets. The wheels are quiet. It's built rugged, and is stylish. I do have 2 items for feedback: (1) I've noticed when going up and down escalators on the NY subway there is no extra protection on the bag up where the sharp escalator step edges hit the bag if it's leaning forwar

I travel all over the Northwest Territories as part of my job. And when I do get the chance to travel down South, I shop and pack my bags to the max. The conditions can be rough and I ruined two previous sets of luggage. My beautiful new Eaglecreek luggage has lasted 2.5 years without a tear, a rip or a wheel issue. I use the cubes and sacs so that I locate what I need quickly -- makes a tremendous difference.

I now ONLY use Eagle Creek-it's fantastic! There are many great bags out there, but what puts Eagle Creek at the top of my list is the high quality AND especially the outstanding Customer Service! A bag is only as good as the guarantee. When they say lifetime guarantee, they mean it! I had a small problem with a zipper. Since that bag was no longer produced, they offered me a choice to upgrade to a nicer bag, were friendly and helpful all the way. I had the new bag in days. I liked it so much, I bought more! These bags have trooped all over the world with me and always perform great! Now my friends are buying them too. Thanks Eagle Creek for being the best!

The Tarmac 22 is small in size, but large in packing capacity. I use Eagle Creek folders and cubes to organize my clothes, and, I put my socks in the zip area on the bottom. It's amazing how much this suitcase holds neatly and compactly. Plus,as a carry on, I don't have to worry about lost luggage.

My EC Tarmac is over a year old now and I am pleased to report that it has held up better than any of my previous bags.
I travel for business excessively, usually averaging 2 or 3 flights a week.Additionally, I needed a bag that looked professional.
In the past, my luggage would be in poor shape after a year.My EC bag still looks great with the only visible wear on the hard plastic scratch plate on the bottom back of the bag and light scratching on the plastic around the corners.
I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a carry-on piece of luggage.

Just love the fact that the bag stands on it's own with a laptop bag slipped over the handle. My old bags always tipped over.

I have been stalking the Tarmac 22 here and will buy it again as soon as they bring back the old clamshell design. It used to have two functional compartment sides - one being the main compartment (with a built-in shoebag, invaluable) and the other built into an extra-deep lid. The lid side was several inches deep and was also divided into two wonderful sections, one a large compartment and one a smaller one (toiletries or underwear/socks).
This used to be a genius design. Now the new Tarmac is a plain old suitcase with a flap for a lid, which you can get anywhere.
I bought the old one, and I liked it so well I bought that year's 25, too. Now I would like to get another 22, but when I received this model and took one look at the sweeping changes, I sent it back. I'll buy it again when they bring back the old compartments.

The bag is tough and it is well made with good materials. BUT I want to tear my hair out sometimes because whoever designed the bag hasn't thought it through. The little pocket on the front is not wide enough and too deep, you can fit a phone/passport/kindle in there but not much else. And if you have a laptop in the main front pocket, then this takes up all the available space of the little front
