I bought these in the black with purple accents, very cute boot. I wear and 8.5 shoe, and ordered that size in these and they fit well with a normal weight sock. The quality is very nice, cozy, comfortable, and unlike most snow boots the shoe area is not over-sized. The side zipper is a really great feature of this lace up boot. If you want a boot to tuck your jeans into, or to wear with skirts, this boot is stylin' and practical for those snowy winter months. Feminine, with an edge. Oh, I got em in under 24 hours! Love Zappos.

These boots left a huge gash under each of my ankle bones from the spot where the rubber meets the leather upper. I wore them a total of 8 blocks and could not wait to take them off. They made my feet feel numb because they were so tight. I bought a size up and loosened the laces so they could barely tie in the front. Maybe this wouldn't happen if you had smaller calves. But I agree that these are not 17 inches. I gave 4 stars for style because they are really nice boots; the fur isn't cheap looking, and they have amazing tread on the bottom. But they were torture on my feet!

If you're a petite woman, these are the boots to get. I'm 5 feet tall, 98 pounds. I ordered a size 5, and the boots fit perfectly. I have narrow feet, and there's just enough room for my toes to wiggle in. I also have Sorel's Joan of Arctic size 5. My feet swim in those shoes. The black boots are verstile. I dress them up with leggings and a short skirt, or tuck my boots in them. I do recommend a sole-insert with arch support.

They are well made boots and I like them but I have to return them because they are to tight on my calves. Otherwise they offer arch support and are nice.

I bought these boots recently and will be returning them. I have a 16 inch calf, and there is no way these boots have a 17 inch circumference. They will zip up, but only if the boots are laced loosely enough so that snow will get in at the gaps where the boots lace up. They are cute, though.

These look great, but are crazy uncomfortable, and run small all around.

I'm very happy with the style and fit of this Merrill winter boot. It felt quite comfortable in the cold climate of a Colorado ski town. I wear them without socks because the fit is a bit tight and any sock would probably be pulled off or bunched up. They're plenty warm even barefoot, and they look great. I do agree with another reviewer who said they have an ankle problem - they rub against the bottoms of my inner ankles. But this isn't severe for me. I only notice it after walking quite a bit. The good looks, warmth, and waterproof qualities make it a fair trade-off.

This boot runs even smaller than other reviews indicate. I ordered 1/2 size up from my normal, and when I put them on they felt snug. When I took them off, my toes started tingling that's probably not a good sign. I would be concerned that going up a full size would cause the heel/ankle area to not fit correctly, so back they go. Also, the laces do not run easily through the loops, so once they are adjusted, you would want to keep them that way. Even with the zipper opening, they were hard to get off, which seems odd to me. On a positive note, they really are comfy, and the brown is not nearly as orange as the picture indicates (it's a great color). The faux fur collar is beautiful, and this is an all around good looking boot.

Great boot! Keeps me warm and dry without question. Nice snug fit so there is no need for thick winter socks. Sized just right. I love the zipper so there's no need to continuously mess with the laces unless you need to adjust them to tuck your pant legs inside or wear them outside. Mine have done me well trekking in a foot of snow enjoying the winter fresh air. I have a wider foot and this boot was not too tight.

I love these boots. They're adorable, warm and so far this winter have not failed me in snow or cold weather. Plus, I get lots of compliments on them.

I love the style, and they're very cute and warm, but the boot was very uncomfortable. It dug deeply in to the skin above the ankle. I tried them on and immediately took them off as they hurt too much to keep on. I'm very disappointed as they are very cute boots.

This is not a comfy boots. Its tight on the ankles.I think because of the material used at the ankle-toe parts, made of hard stiff material.not suitable for long walks. Good thing it has zippers not the sides. Calf runs small in width when you zip it, much more to tuck your skinny jeans. The style was very nice and trendy,I ordered the brown color.I'm thinking to return it, to have my money's worth.

Just received this boot in my regular size 8.5 It's beautiful. However, a few things I'm not sure about: It's quite large on my foot (and I am usually an 8.5/9) so albeit the other reviews, I personally think this runs big. I do wear smartwool socks, which aren't ridiculously thick, but keep me warm. They aren't the easiest things to get on/off. I thought the side zip would help out with that, but once I had the laced tight to keep me in the boot, I had to wrestle to take it off when unzipped. There is a spot on the right boot (only!) that rubs on the inside of my heel. It's where the base rubber line and upper meet together, but it doesn't rub on the left foot, which makes me worry about the makesmanship of the entire boot. As of now, I am ordering a size 8, but am not 100% confident I will keep 'em. My intention was to have a boot I can match with skinny jeans to trudge through snow to the bars (isn't it fun to be hanging out in a bar when it's dumping snow?) and also hike with snowpants on the trails.

I loved the look of these boots. When I tried them on, they were light (which was a nice surprise) and fit well. However, after wearing them a few times, I am very unhappy. They are extremely painful around my ankles (which are average size) and unwearable. I am going to see if I can get a refund. I've never experienced this type of issue before.

I put these (mahogany color) boots on "straight from the box" and drove in to town where two people asked about them. I think they are great! I'm 5'5" and my calf size is slim so I didn't have the problem the other reviewers had with fit. Also, mine haven't "sunk" to bother my ankles. They are warm, somewhat adjustable with the laces and the zipper is awesome for quick in and out. Highly recommend!

Love the zipper for easy on and off. Adjustable enough with laces for my narrow feet. Very waterproof, as long as you don't stick your foot in a creek to above the base of the zipper. Great for snow and good looking.

These just arrived. They're exactly what I was looking for. Stylish but comfortable, waterproof; for snowboarding trips, shoveling my driveway, running errands during the winter season; snow or wintery-mix. I'm a strict 9.5 and these fit perfect. So glad they come in half sizes. I have narrow calves (12 inches) and the laces allow for a snug fit. My mom has the same size foot but significantly larger calves and she said the shaft was too small even after loosing up the laces, and she didn't like the look of the boot on her. So I wouldn't recommend this style for those with larger calves. The appear to be excellent quality and durable. Can't wait to try them out.

Great boots! Very comfortable and warm without being too warm. Stylish enough to wear for the day and not feel like I'm wearing "snow boots"

Having recently moved from the South to New York I needed a good pair of winter shoes for the snow and cold. These boots deliver! They are incredibly comfortable and really really cute. I haven't tested them out in the cold yet, but wandering the house (minus socks) made me toasty warm. I typically wear between a 6.0 and a 6.5 but opted for the 6.5 and I'm glad I did. I have just enough room for a thicker pair of socks. I am a petite person at 5'1" and rather thin - the boots hit at a great spot a little higher than mid-calf on me. I am able to tuck my skinny jeans into the boots and have enough room to zip them up. All in all it was a great purchase! Totally comfortable and super cute!

Happy to have bought this in the spring sale but that means I can't tell you how warm they are. But they look great! Room for a thin sock inside but I don't know if I'll need one.

I'm disappointed with the boots because it is not slip resistant. My whole goal was to be able to use this on the days that we still have snow on the ground and I slip. They are gorgeous and quite comfortable and they keep my feet really warm.

These shoes are too tight at the calve area. You cannot wear them with jeans. Unfortunately I have to find wider calf boots. But they look really nice.

I think Zappos is going to quit letting me order boots. This is yet another 'miss' for me. I'm looking for function and beauty in a sporty boot. This boot is beautiful everywhere except the huge honking black sole. The quilting on the shaft and fur trim are awesome! The mahogany color is great! They were warm (for the time I had them on my feet). Quality is great. I have a freak foot that is narrow and these weren't too narrow in width but were strangely narrow on the height in the toe area. Felt like someone was standing on my toes/end of my foot. My toes were numb after 15 minutes of wear in my house. Can't even imagine walking in these as they are very inflexible when I step. And good luck tucking anything except a thin legging inside these! Gosh I hate the foot part! I'd be in love if these were at least more comfortable! Perhaps I'm searching for an impossible boot! Can't really recommend these for anything. I'd even sacrifice beauty if the boot was crazy comfy. They run small. I tried a 10 1/2 seeing the reviews for sizing and I normally wear a 10. I would almost think an 11 may not squeeze my toes as much but still hate the black foot part.

These boots are really cute and good for kickin' around the city streets, but do not expect them to keep your feet warm during a day of snow shoeing or sledding! They only have 200grams of insulation. They are also for people with skinny calves. I don't have dancer calves or anything, but have to undo the laces all the way to zip them up. Also, zipper pull busted right away.

Great looking boots but so uncomfortable...they are very tight on my calf and I'd say I am average. Also, I had a problem with them hurting my ankle bone. No matter how loose I made the ties up the front, the ankle was being pressed on and eventually I had to return them because they were unwearable. The bottom is hard plastic so it does not flex with each step which also was uncomfortable if you are walking any distance.
