It's not often that you experience overwhelming gratitude when putting on a shoe, but each time I do, I almost breathe, "Thank you, Haflinger." I got these because my Mephisto Helen sandals became the most comfortable shoe for me to wear, but I needed a warm, true house shoe with the best support for my plantar fasciitis and low back pain/sciatica. They were comfortable the moment I put them on and I don't want to take them off. They continue to get more comfortable as the footbed takes on the impression of my foot. I'm a 9.5-10 in US, 40 in Mephisto shoes, and the size 40 fits my feet. I sought these out for the natural materials which just feel better than any other synthetic material. It seems that my feet are beginning to prefer handmade shoes with natural materials over anything else. They are spendy because of it, but switching to these kinds of shoes has extended the amount of time I can be on my feet without pain. I no longer need my superfeet. I would not recommend adding any orthotic to these are they are already their own orthotic. They are now my main house shoe. I can stand in them all day. Or when I come home from work, they truly are my new best friends. They are warm, yet your feet don't get damp or slimy with sweat because the wool breathes. Easy to wear a sock or not. People complained about the cork cracking, but cork footbed shoes (and all natural material shoes) require special maintenance with specific products. Go to your shoe care/repair expert to get the type of brush-on "glue" that you apply to the exterior of the footbed when it looks like the cork is starting to wear, and they will last a long time. If you're accustomed to a clog, you'll adapt to the open heel. If not, you may need an adjustment period getting used to navigating stairs as this is a "relaxed movement" kind of shoe.

Just received my Haflinger Spirit's today! I am so excited to wear these! Like all my Haflingers - I order a 38 for my American size 8 to 8 1/2 feet and they arrive and fit my wide, high instep & high arch like they were custom made just for me right out of the box! I simply love the wool felt, socks are optional and the easy on/off of them always makes them first choice for going out and about. Love my Haflingers and really love shopping at Zappos! It's too bad I have to wait till Christmas to wear them as they are a Christmas gift.

They were much larger than the size stated. The arch support is very hard, so be aware. And also, they have a metatarsal arch, which rules them out as shoes for me.

These are well built shoes and go really well with pants or matching shorts. They've kept my feet warm in the winter, but don't seem to overheat me during the spring either. I wanted to try these out because I heard they had great structure for wearing orthotics in, and that's very true. The orthotics slide in perfectly, but since the shoes didn't have an insole to take out there's less room to get your foot inside the shoe. It was tight fit for the first week or two, but now they fit like a glove! :) I love them. I have a feeling they will last for a long time and I plan on repurchasing when that time comes. I think they're cute too, but I'm not a fashionista :p . Also, I did have to return for a size larger but zappos made it very easy to do.

I got my shoes today. I am so happy the shipment is fast. I have a bad knee and swollen ankles. My podiatrist recommended this shoes. It felt really good arch support. Thanks Zappos!

Years ago, I bought a pair of Haflingers but they are for and at a friend’s house and still in great shape. Well, last year I made the mistake of buying another brand with less support and substandard upper material. That pair is now full of holes and in the trash. Haflinger is the best! PS—they come without the dog hair!

This is my 6th pair of Haflinger's. Wore them exclusively on a recent trip to Portland, Oregon. My feet stayed warm and comfortable. Love, love, love this shoe.

I thought the style was okay but they were so stiff I felt like I was wearing small skis. If you like Birkenstock you may like these but I don't like mules that sound like a mule walking on hardwood. I would have probably kept them if they had a soft sole that bends a little.

It is a fantastic shoe. Comfortable from the moment you put it on. I love the circles design on the wool fabric. I have received several compliments about it already. It really is a good looking shoe!

I have arthritis in my feet and have to wear orthotics. I find this brand of shoe to accommodate the orthotics nicely and to provide me with just the right amount of support while still providing comfort. They are initially a little stiff and take a couple of days to break-in but are very comfortable after that.

I always look for shoes to support my high arch which, over time, has given me heel spurs. I liked that this brand had some designs on the shoe and decided to try them. I really like them and there was no break-in time. I have had them for several months now and wear them constantly. Be forewarned though, they are wool and make great cool weather shoes, but they stayed in my closet when I first got them as I broke out in a sweat the first time I wore them.

Great clogs/slippers with awesome arch support for plantar fasciitis. Very expensive (I found them a little cheaper at a shoe store). Would love more color choices but grey is a neutral.

Comfortable, good looking shoe - very tailored, pretty detail. This is my second pair - they ran two sizes larger than my first pair (five years old.)

Good shoes, though not as soft as I was hoping for. Much larger than I expected, usually when people say it runs large, it's because they wear their shoes too small to begin with. Nope, this shoe runs quite large.

these shoes are great, however they didn't fit my wide short feet well enough and too stiff for a slipper. They don't come in wide, but thought I would give them a try. Oh, well moving on.

Although I order a 6 when I usually take a 6 1/2, the shows were still too large. They were returned because a US size 6 is the smallest available. I wish they did fit.

Had to send back as the Eur size for a US size 7 was too big on Zappos site. The size I ordered was a Eur38. My feet are wide, I call them paddles and there is room for my toes to dance around. Waiting for a Eur36. I also have a high arch and the shoe's arch felt good. Not for flat feet. I also looked up several Eur conversion charts and they also aren't consistent. Some said 38 while others were 36. What's a gal to do???

These are VERY comfortable shoes! I needed another style option for work that was cute but comfy, too, and these fit the bill. They’re a little pricey, but so far, I’d say they’re worth it!

I wear a size 8-8.5 and I was grateful for reviewers’ advice to get the size 38 rather than the recommended 39. These clogs are comfortable for indoor and outdoor wear. They are exactly what I wanted.

I bought my first pair of Haflingers at a podiatrist's recommendation and happily wore them for years. When they eventually wore out I balked at the price of a replacement pair. I finally pulled the trigger and am so happy to have my Haflingers back. I use them as house shoes mostly but can tiptoe outside if needed. They are warm, supportive and oh so comfortable.

This is my 4th pair of Haflinger shoes but I have always had the slippers before. I live in them the moment I walk in the door each day which is why I have gone thru 3 pair of them. Due to a knee replacement I could not get my foot to angle in any of my other shoes so I thought I would try the Spirit so I could go outside in the cold and have cozy feet in the wonderful soft wool and the special grippers on the bottom of the shoes. I read all the reviews and decided to stick with my usual 39 size but when they came they were like boats on my feet. I even tried using really fat Smart Wool socks but not safe. I called right away and exchanged them for the 38, which I got the NEXT day!. They fit perfectly and I have already been out and about in them in the elements. I guess each person has to try the size they think and then adjust. Customer Service is the BEST around so I know you will be satisfied in the end!!!!

Very comfortable once I got the right size. I normally wear a 7 1/2 - 8 but had to return the 38s for a 37 (size 6 according to the size chart). The 37s are just fine even with wool socks. The wool does tend to stretch a bit over time.
