I so wish this boot would put an end to my endless search for the perfect, sexy yet laid-back all around boot. The reviews seemed to promise just that...unfortunately didn't work for me. Yes, the boot fits my muscular calves with room to spare, but it just hangs so sadly, and it stops at an unflattering height of my calf (where it's largest), that I can't bear to shell out a ton of money for it. What's also weird is the contrast between an extremely rigid foot and a super wobbly top, but that might adjust after breaking in the boots. Back they go, and my search continues.

These Fryes have really gone down in quality. I got these same boots 3 years ago and I just wanted to replace them. Unfortunately, the leather on the shaft is thinner than they used to be and they don't fit my calf like the old pair. Also, they arrived scuffed up so I assume they've been returned a few times.

The boots are beautiful, but the fit was not. The problem was not with the fit in the calf (plenty of room for 16.5" calves in a size 8.5) but the problem was in the ankles!!! My ankles flopped too much in the boots, causing blisters on the backs of my heels(and this was just taking the boots out of the box and walking around my bedroom to try them out). Wearing thick socks did not help. In short (also, if you're short like I am) and great fit in the foot and boot shaft, too much room in the ankles. I really wanted these boots to work, but alas, they are going back to Zappos.

I wanted to love these beauties, but wife calf they are not. I have about a 16 inch calf, and they wouldn't come close to fitting. Sad to return them, but better for slim calves.

Not a fan of the brown leather. Everything was great about this boot -- fit my 16" calves, comfortable, very stylish. However I am not a fan of the dark brown calf shine vintage leather. The tones of the leather reminded me of vinyl that was printed to look like leather (though not that bad). I would suggest if you plan to order these, use the zoom feature to view the grain of the leather as close as possible.

These boots are very cute, but the top of the boot is not "wide calf" while the rest of it is. It is a little weird (in that the top of the boot is fitted, and it is looser down to the ankle), but overall cute. I will say that I only owned my boots about 2 weeks when one of them ripped. I was pretty shocked, given that the leather seems thick and higher quality. I will have to have them repaired, which I do not think will be costly. I have owned many pairs of Frye boots -- my complaint is always the same -- the calves are a little slim. I thought the switch to the wide calf would solve the problem. I am 5'6", 130# and slender. I am athletic, and this was my first wide calf boot purchase. I think Frye needs to adjust their sizing a bit. Other than that, I do like the boots.

I absolutely love these boots. Gorgeous and comfortable. However, I have had them for three months and the stitching on the top of the instep is coming unsewn. I expect boots this expensive to last longer...

I ordered these boots with high hopes. They are very nice looking boots, but I don't think the shaft is wide enough to fit jeans into it without feeling too restricted. My calves are not small, but they are also not large, so I would keep that in mind when ordering. Sent them back.

Okay, my girlfriend wanted the Veronica Slouches for Christmas. Originally bought the 7.5 in the regular size and they were too small for her. She is 5'3, about 130lbs and was tight in the calf area. I returned those for these slouches in an 8 and they were far too easy to get on and off but fit great around her calf area. Would probably go for a 7.5 in the wide calf.

I was so excited to get these, finally a pair of boots to fit my 16" calves. And fit they did, perfectly. But here's the rub: I am flummoxed over how cheap these boots feel. The leather is paper thin, and given 2 weeks, would be slouched around my ankles. The interior felt rough, and the footbed is hard w/ no support. Also, the boots did not match each other, at all. One boot was mottled and looked like fake leather made to "simulate" real leather. The other boots was all one color with a light stripe around the circumference. It seems like this is Frye's cheap knock-off of itself. Back they go! For the cost these boots should look like "money!" I gave a vintage pair of Frye campus boots to a friend because i knew my calf would never fit into them. Those boots were "fine fabric." Shame on you Frye!

Meh. They fit, but they feel narrow, and not particularly comfortable. I wish they made wide calf boots in other styles... I'm just not loving the slouchy look, but there isn't a lot of choice. They are also pretty short... especially after slouching a bit. I would love to jump on the Frye bandwagon, but these don't seem to justify their price.

So wanted these to work out, but didn't like the slouch...the footbed is exactly to size and I could get my calves in there, but meh. They are going back.

The foot part felt very loose and big. I always get a size 10 in a boot. They were odly short and for me the calf was a bit small while the foot part was huge. The leather is nice but I thought they looked better in the picture than in real life. They were also big in the heel area and the ankle area. I thought it was a very odd fit for a boot.

I don't know why Frye bothers to make "extended calf" boots at all if they aren't going to make them big enough for actual extended calf sizes. I doubted these would work for my 16" calves (size 7) and wasn't even going to order them, but so many reviews said they worked that I decided to try. They came all the way up but left a very unattractive bulge on top with bare legs. I would never get jeans under them. Maybe they would stretch, I don't know. It hardly seems worth the risk at this price. I have tried on dozens of boots and these fit me the same as any non-extended calf versions I have tried. I really don't understand the point of these. It's disappointing to say the least. If you have a smaller foot and a calf over 15", be prepared for the real possibility of disappointment.

I was so excited to get these boots since I have a larger calf and these seemed that they would be the perfect fit. Unfortunately, I didn't even get the chance to completely try them on. While I was able to pull them up my calves, I could NOT get my foot into them. The heel/back of the boot was hitting the bottom of my heel (about a quarter of the way into my foot)... with no hope of ever getting them on. I'm a true 10 in everything and in other Frye boots as well. I'm so sad to have to return these lovely boots, but alas, I have no other option. (As a side note: I do not know how the arch support is but just left it at the default option which was moderate.)

17.5 calf, size 8.5 was too small. Also, some people said to order a size up in the reviews which I did and they were much too large. Will be returning.

These boots are not worth the price. I am 5'3½", my leg measuring from the floor to immediately below my knee joint is 15½". My shoe size is usually 6. I ordered size 6½. The boot top is 2½" below my knee joint. The boot slips in the heel and the toe is extremely hard. I ordered these boots mainly because, unlike most Frye boots, have a sole suited for wet and snow conditions. I wish other styles were available with an option for adding this surface to the bottom of the boot. I do not recommend this style.

The fit is fine, but the quality for the price just doesn't seem there to me. The leather looks cheap for price. Back they go.

I am 5'7, a size 10, and have 17" runners calves. I have always wanted a pair of Frye boots and could never fit into the regular styles. I have been looking at these for some time and decided to just order it. My mom has the Veronica Back Zip in the Dark Brown and the leather is thick, sturdy, and beautiful. I was hoping for the same in the Veronica Slouch, but I was disappointed when they arrived. I understand that it is supposed to be "slouchy" but I felt like it just was too thin for the price you are paying. Although the shaft was wide enough to fit my calf, it wasn't quite wide enough to comfortably fit with jeans or leggings. Also, I felt that the shaft hit at my widest point on my leg, making it look even bigger (something I really didn't need). I hope that helps!

Not what I expected for the price. Very thin leather & not tall enough, which is surprising since I am only 5'2". I remember really sturdy Frye boots from years ago, but these are wimpy. The calves do fit though. Sadly, returning them. Search for the perfect boot continues (sigh).

Meh...I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. The upper portion of these boots is so thin and floppy, it just looks kind of cheap. The boots look more like synthetic stretch boots than expensive leather boots. Mine went right back - thanks to Zappos for their awesome return policy!

I have an almost 18 inch calf, and slightly wide size ten feet. I could just squeeze my foot into the boot (it was really difficult, and I had to put on nylons to do it), but the foot of the boot was a little too tight. I think I may have even been able to get this boot and be okay in a 10.5, but that size doesn't seem to be available. I would definitely not be able to wear anything but thin nylons with these boots, as the shaft was stretched to the limit around my calf. These go back, and the search continues.

I so wanted these boots to work. I am a 7.5 in shoes and I have a wide calf, 17 inch and I wish Frye would make a wide width boot for all size feet, not have the width go up just because the size went up. I've been searching for the perfect boot for over a year now and I just cant find anything that looked as great as these, everything else looks cheap or has that gross elastic banding on the back. Wish I could wear these! Envy those who can.

Although these boots fit my wide calf, it's about all that I liked. The leather looked like plastic and I didn't like how my foot slid in them.
