This product is not as good as the wax. Don't like the spray. It is not easy to use. I followed the instruction staying 10" away to spray on the shoe. The spray splashed too hard and the liquid splashed to other spot rather than the shoe. And whatever sprayed on the shoe, it leaves spot on the leather even I rubbed it and dried it with cloth. I used a different brand before and didn't have that problem. Recommend the Frye wax product

I got this spray mostly because I wanted to change the color of my Veronica Slouch boots in Slate. There was a pretty dramatic change from light, almost powdery grey with blue undertones to a much darker smoky grey-brown. Previously, boots had somewhat dramatic looking distressing and texture to the leather. After spray, the distress was much muted (thank god, I hated the fake distress look). They look like a whole different pair of boots. This is the result I wanted but take note if you do not want the color of your shoes to change. I found application to be easy and did not experience any of the problems described by other users (spray coming out in an abrupt stream and leaving spots on leather, pump not working).

The Frye Weatherproof Spray is great. I used it on my boots, and I feel comfortable wearing them out and without the fear of them getting destroyed by the elements. It does make the leather darker though, however, I think it added a beautiful layer of color and depth to my Harness 12R's (Tan color). It's not greasy at all, and dried overnight. A wonderful oil pump spray (not aerosol) that keeps my leather protected from the stray puddles. It does not make them fully waterproof however. Just made to keep leather healthy through what nature throws at you.

I have use this product on my Walter wedge lace ups (tan) and it completely changed the color to brown similar to the whiskey color on this same style. the process of using it wasn't too bad; just remember you will get greasy fingers. I have not tested the boots on the rain but I hope they do repelled the rain since I really like this boots. The final product is okay, I wouldn't have done it if was going to change the color this much. If you want to change the color on your boots to a darker color and keep them dry from the rain, then this is the way to go.

I'm sure this is a good quality product. However, it changed the look of my Harness 12R "Smoke Old Town" to so much darker I'm considering returning them. There are very little signs of distress left on the boots and it changed the color to a flat dark brown - not what I was hoping for!

I just bought my first pair of Frye boots and wanted to take good care of them so they'd survive long enough to pass along to my granddaughter (like my grandmother's did!). I bought this spray to protect my boots. I followed the instructions on the can and have been happy with the results so far. One thing to note: - When you spray it on it looks awful, streaky and spotty and like you just ruined your boots. Don't worry; it absorbs and the lines/streaks go away if you let the boots sit overnight!

I used this product on three pairs of the Frye Carson Ballet Flats. The product enhanced the look of the black pair of flats (providing a nice sheen); however, it darkened the other two pairs quite noticeably. The product is supposed to protect the shoes yet I have noticed a couple light water-stains on one of the lighter brown pairs. I would say the spray (oil) helps to protect the shoes but does not completely waterproof them.

I haven't had a chance to test it out in the elements, but it definitely changed the color of my boots. It does state that it may change the color, but I was surprised to see how permanently dark it made them. I thought buying the same brand as my boots would be the best for them. Not sure how to rate for "comfort" or "style".

All of the shoes I have used these on have been dark brown or black so I don't mind that this might darken up the leather a bit. I live in a rainy area and this spray does a nice job protecting my Frye's from the elements!

I ordered this weathetproofing spray for my Frye Harness 12R boots which were in need of a pick me up after several years of wear. The leather was drying out and the color was fading. I sprayed this product on the boots, used a dry towel to rub it in, and wow! The thick leather instantly absorbed the spray and made the boots look like new. The spray also darkened the leather pretty significantly, although they look much richer now and the Old Town leather shows its multi-tones even more attractively than before. The boots were fully dry within a day. I will note that I could not use this product on my Melissa button boots, which are brush-off leather (the label specifically warns not to use this product on brush-off leather, nubuck, and suede). For my Melissa's I purchased Frye's conditioning wax (which was not available on Zappos at the time) and it worked beautifully on the brush-off leather, darkening it just slightly and moisturizing the leather well. (I believe the wax is "water-resistant" rather than water-proof like the spray). Overall I am very pleased with this product and have used it on other leather shoes that I've neglected. Buy it, it has been well worth the money for me and will make a difference in your leather items for sure.

I love this spray. I don't worry about what's going to happen when wearing my boots out. It does make the color darker, but I think it makes them look even better. Definitely worth the money. Now I'm worry free when wearing my boots!

My one complaint is the actual spray comes out in a fast, concentrated stream. You end up with a puddle on your boots and have to quickly spread it around, making for an uneven application. A wider spray spread would make for an easier application.

I bought this to keep help my Fryes stay good-looking through the wintry Vermont weather. So far, so good. Spreads easily and seems to be protecting the leather. Did make the leather slightly darker, but definitely worth it.

So far so good. Easy application. Much more so than any other shoe product I've used. Used it on the suede parts of my shoe too -- no biggie there -- the nap smooths out, is all...seems to be protecting my shoes nicely. Most parts still look shiny -- they've been through a lot lately: snow, salt, rain. Satisfied.

Great product! Easy to apply, does darken the color, but is completely waterproof! I'm kind of rough on my boots, so it comes off after awhile - but thankfully it is easy to reapply. Totally worth the money and gives you piece of mind for not ruining your expensive Frye boots!

I sounds like this product is getting bad reviews because it darkens light leather, but it worked great for my black boots. My boots were designed to look a little worn so it did make them look a little cleaner, but I really like how they look now. And it's definitely doing its job of keeping them from getting water marks in the rain. FYI I applied the spray to a strong paper towel first and then rubbed it onto the leather.

I ordered this to treat my Campus boots which had dried out and spotted with mildew (I live in the Caribbean and humidity destroys all leather!) I was dubious as I thought the dark mildew stains would be permanent. I often just have to wipe the mould of my leather bags and shoes, so it's a bit of an issue. This product is so simple, just pump spray on the leather and wipe off and repeat when necessary. It has healed light scuffs and removed all evidence of mildew marks. I'm going to keep treating them so it really soaks in. The label says it may darken the leather, but in my case it enhanced it, bringing out the rich colors of the leather - my boots are the banana color. I have now used on my Frye Mary-Janes and all other boots, shoes and bags I have here! Amazing product and not expensive for the restorative work it does. Thanks Frye, now my boots look beautiful again and refreshed.

It won't spray so I couldn't use it. I'm not sure if the can lost its pressure or if it's just broken.

I just treated my cognac Melissa Button boots with the weatherproof spray I got yesterday. It squirted globs onto my boot and I couldn't get it to rub in evenly. Now they're speckled and blotchy and totally messed up. I'm super angry. I just read other reviews that said the same thing. I wish I had known this, I would have gotten the cream instead. How can you sell something that does not perform exceptionally well? I saved for months to be able to buy these boots, and now they may be permanently ruined.
