I have had the Vera Short boots for about a week now. This is my 5th pair of Fryes. I bought the Gray Vintage color and ended up with a size 8.5 for my size 9 feet. The boots, miraculously, make my feet look small. The snub nose toe is different from my other boots and adds a stylish touch. The leather is unlike my other Fryes (Melissa Tall Lace, Phillip Harness, Carson oxfords and Campus boots) in that it is a little thinner on the shaft. I guess it's a little "slouchier" than I expected although I am not unhappy with it. The gray color is nice and goes with everything. I have worn these boots with skinny jeans and boot cut pants and they look great. I am still getting used to the heel. I generally like a low heeled boot but these are manageable, so far. The boot is quite comfortable after a brief break in period.

Boot perfection! I've been wanting these for the longest time, and finally bought them with Xmas bonus when Zappos had discount on the tumbled red (goddess bless Zappos). They are so perfectly comfortable and fabulous in every way. The toe is not as round and clunky as Engineer and higher heel too. More "elegant" so to speak but still kick-**s. Absolutely love them. Sometimes I try less expensive boot brands, hoping in vain that they will be as good as Frye, and I always end up sending them back. I've learned from this mistake, and now just save up to get Fryes. One pair is worth a dozen cheaper shoes/boots, and I'm going to save up to get these in black too. Only other comment, they are not as red as expected from pictures. But that is just fine.

These boots are great! They were instantly comfortable and I'm able to wear these boots all day long. The color is gorgeous and these were well worth the money because I'll be in them for years!

Hello perfect bridge-gapping boot! I searched and searched for a very specific set of qualities in a black boot -- not too 'biker' (I already own those), not too dressy (checked that box already, too). Not too high (I wanted to be able to wear it under straight-leg jeans), not a bootie (I just can't bring myself to go there). I need a bit of a heel, but it's hard to find one that doesn't shove a boot into either cowgirl or night-on-the-town-land. This boot is the answer. Perfect. Thank you Frye and thank you Zappos.

Super sexy boots! I love these. My new favs. Got the Maple Calf shine vintage. Great rich brown. The footbed is cushy and wonderful. They fit perfectly, they look amazing...don't know what other wonderful things to say about these boots, except I want to wear 'em to bed! Nothin' bad to say about 'em. Enjoy 'em. Love 'em.

Awesome boots! I ordered about half size smaller than my usual 8.5 and they felt just about right in length with a bit room for tow wiggle, just a bit snug in width. I wore them three days in a row when I first got them and by the end of the first day they felt as if I'd worn them for years. The heel is bit higher than I normally wear, as I am already 5'9" but they a stable as a rock so it's not uncomfortable at all. In fact I could walk in these for miles, and have! There is still a little heel slip, but it doesn't rub my feet raw somehow, which most other shoes manage to do on a regular basis. I got the Maple color and love it. I can wear it with blacks or browns and it look fabulous. I highly recommend investing in these boots.

Love the boots! I too had to adjust the strap one notch on the bottom so my heel did not slip. But they are exactly what I was looking for. Comfortable and very stylish. Well-made. I plan to have them for years.

Love these boots but they are way big! I'm normally between a 9.5 and a 10 so I ordered a 9.5. They were too big so I exchange them for a 9...still too big! Need to exchange these for an 8.5.

I just received these boots made by Frye "Vera Short" and I absolutely love them. I am a petite woman. However, these boots look awesome under a pair of cool jeans or tucked in jean and also leggings are fabulous to boot! For the most part I am a true 6 medium in boots/shoes, but being very familiar with Frye boots, I usually have to go down a half size. So I purchased these boots in a 5.5 medium width and the fit was great! If these boots are your style, I would definitely recommend them. I'm a happy customer!

These boots are gorgeous and it pained me to send them back until the 11s became available again. I'm a true 10.5, but between the lack of availability of that size ever (outside of, perhaps, athletic shoes) I almost always have to bump up to the 11 to accommodate my wider foot! Boots have been the odd man out though, so I took my chance - definitely found these on the narrow side, but knew quickly that there was little hope of them stretching to fit - I'd surely hurt myself trying! These still look fabulous though, no one does it better than Frye, and the leather in person was incredible. The quality is definitely evident, and that's not a sure thing ever, even with the price tag. Now that these are available again in the size I need, I hope Santa might act quickly just so they don't disappear again on me!

I am so obsessed with these boots! They fit great, look amazing and are really versatile. Also, the heel isn't too high so I feel like you can wear them anywhere and they are still very comfy. I originally got the 10 and they were too big. Zappos was amazing and exchanged them for me without a problem (and I got the new pair, 9.5, in one business day). The 9.5 fits perfectly. Definitely a solid boot. I got the Grey Vintage color and I love it, it's a little different but definitely something that could go with anything. A great boot overall!

Beautiful boots! I have had so many compliments on them. They are comfortable and go so well with most anything in my closet. Love them, love them!

These boots are fabulous. They are marked medium width but I have a narrow foot so would not recommend to anyone whose foot is wider. Comfortable, stylish, wear with anything. A great investment. By the way did I mention I love them!

I have never been happier with a pair of boots! I wear my Fryes all the time...they are super comfortable. I normally wear a size 8 and they fit perfectly. Love Frye and Zappos!

Best boot I have ever bought. It's my 3rd pair of Fryes and definitely my favorite. I wear them all day at work some days (10 hours or more) and do not have any issues with comfort. They look great with skinny jeans, leggings/tights, skirts, boot-cut jeans that have a wider lower leg, and even with some of my wide-leg wool pants. The distressed black color was awesome right out of the box and a year later still looks good. The only slight con with this boot is it is kind of noisy, as some others have pointed out. Have no regrets about spending the money on these!

I'm loving this boot! I originally ordered it thinking that it was quite red in color, but the picture makes it look a brighter red than it really is. The finish is lovely, but not what I was hoping for. I was loading them back into the box to return them when my friends urged me to reconsider -- they're so beautiful. I did! In doing so, I also reconsidered the size. Normally an 8.5 in Fryes (this is my fifth pair), these felt pretty sloppy and after reading other reviews that had similar comments, I ordered the 8.0. This half size smaller fits perfectly and I'm wearing them for the first time today! Have done a decent amount of walking in them and they're comfortable and already breaking in well. I love the height of these heels and the chunkiness of them. I'll wear them over skinny jeans, under boot cut jeans, with long and short skirts, and with tights.

Very cool boots. I have a size 10 foot and there is plenty of room for socks and even a little too roomy the heal is a little too wide but I'm keeping them because they are awesome!

I loved these boots. Great quality, stunning boots with excellent arch support. The heel made it easy to walk in and gave me the extra height I desired. However, the width was very narrow so much so it became painful within minutes of having them on. For reference my foot is medium width that leans towards wide. I really did not want to return these boots. I love Zappos for their great customer service and easy returns. The only thing I wish is that Zappos would offer more wide width boot options.

I love these boots! Ordered yesterday, got them today and have had them on since I opened the box. I was afraid they would be too tight at the top (I have very muscular calves) but since they are the "short" boots there was no problem at all. I ordered my usual size and they fit like they were made for me. The slate color is beautiful-closer to a taupe than grey-and should go with anything. This is the first pair of Frye boots I have bought and I am tempted to spring for another pair already!

Good looking boot! Not the most comfortable (cushioned) boot, but roomy around toes while fitting snug enough to prevent heel slipping. I ordered a half size bigger than usual to wear with woolly socks.

Frye boots run big on me, so I ordered a half size down. They are a little narrow (I have a slightly wide foot). I stretched these out with a boot stretcher. Worked great. I can't wait until it's cool outside and I can wear them all the time. There is an itchy label sewn into the top of the boot. I will need to put some moleskin over it so it doesn't mess up my tights or scratch my leg. I also plan to add an arch support for my weirdly high arches; these boots don't really have any arch support.

My Frye Vera short boots fit perfectly, I ordered same size I wear in most shoes. I have a wide toe box and even the medium width is fine. They are new and still a little stiff, but the leather is beautiful and should soften. Zappos continues to impress me with their customer service!
