Worth the money- a 1/2 size larger than marked. They're durable; do not be afraid if they're tight around the calves. This symptom will disappear after the first 24 hours of use. Mine were alarmingly tight to the point where I felt my circulation cut off :) The cuteness of the boot allowed me to push through the initial pain, only to now find that the boots simply slip on and off now, so they do stretch. These are well made boots and are made to last. Please don't get discouraged about the calf fitting- I promise it's worth the initial break in process.

Ladies, if you have slim calves, this boot is for you! I have searched literally for years for knee-high boots that weren't too tall (I'm 5'4") or so wide that they flared out ridiculously around my legs. Ignore the price and buy these boots! You will have them for many years, the leather is top quality and they are so well made you can resole several times. This is my 3rd pair of Fryes - I have the Harness in brown short and black 12 inch, both of which I wear constantly. I've had them for several years and they just get better. I bought the Melissa in black and the Jenna in dark brown and smoke. The Melissa was a bit too tall and wide, though not terrible, but the Jenna is perfect. The dark brown is a softer, pebbled leather, and looks more traditionally equestrian. The smoke is a gorgeous thick distressed cool-toned brown leather. I loved both, but I'm keeping the smoke, because it's edgier and the color and vibe goes with quite a bit in my wardrobe. They were comfortable out of the box, softened a touch as I wore them around the house, but I also like that the slightly stiffer smoke leather will not stretch so that they end up too wide or slouchy. Fit perfectly on bare legs without being too big, but have enough room for leggings or jeans. The inside zipper is genius. They even have some padding in the insole. I'm a college teacher, so am on my feet standing in the classroom or schlepping across campus, and I can tell these will be incredible comfortable and form to my feet and legs. I may actually buy the dark brown when I can afford another splurge, but for now the smoke color fits the bill. So happy!

I received these today and am in love!! First, they fit my very narrow calves quite well. I am a 13.5" calf, and these have just enough room for a skinny jean or cord, but won't look ridiculous with tights/leggings. I am 5'10 and got the 9's, which are a little roomy... you could almost go a 1/2 size down, but these will allow room for thicker socks. These hit me about 2.5 inches below the knee. The inside zipper is great. Unlike my Jane Cuff Frye boots, I don't have to struggle to get these on and off:). They are just chunky enough to have a little attitude- not your typical riding boot. Yeah!! Oh, and the smell- the smell of Frye leather is always wonderful!

These boots are da bomb! Sleek fitting with no gap at my calf, with just enough style to go from uptown to downtown. Perfect. Heed the reviews, your calves must be on the slim side to fit into these but if they are, these boots are worth the money. You will have these boots for years and always be in style when you wear them. Beautiful craftsmanship, awesome customer service. Frye & Zappos rock it!

Purchased the smoke color - which is a gorgeous gray-brown color - matches black, gray or brown! I usually wear a size 8 in shoes & other Frye boots. No different with this style. They may run a tad longer in the foot, but not so much that I would go down a half-size. Perfect for thicker socks if I choose. My biggest concern was the narrow/straight shaft. I have thin, muscular calves (runners'). These boots fit perfectly! Can wear with tights, leggings, or over skinny jeans. I also like the shaft height, just about 2" below my kneecap. The boot shaft is a thick leather, so very minimal, if any, slouching! I'm so happy with these boots...I love them! Exactly what I wanted!

These are the best boots if you have skinny calves! Tall boots usually gap a bunch around my legs, but these fit perfectly with jeans or leggings. The ankle zippers make them easy to get on and off. I have 13.5" calves and the 14" circumference on the size 8 fits perfectly. I also have a pair of Frye Carson Shorties and I would say that the footbed of these boots is cushier and more supportive. The soles are also not a slick so I won't have to score them. I always wear an 8 in Fryes and I vary from 8 to 8.5 in other shoes. These are a must for any girl with small calves!

Fabulous! They do run big. I am consistently a 9.5, and didn't listen to the other reviewers and ordered a 9.5. way too big. Returned for a 9. Fit nicely, but even so, maybe could have done an 8.5, but I wanted the extra room for thicker socks.

I love these boots! Ordered them last night, received the this afternoon, and wore them all afternoon - no break-in required! I wear size 11, B width, and these 11Bs fit perfectly, with just enough of room left in the toe to keep my toes from slamming into the tips. Best of all, I finally found a boot that fits my calves with no gapping - and I have skinny calves. Thanks so much, Zappos and Frye!

Perfect boots. Not cowboy but leaner and more feminine than Campus style. Beautiful thick dark brown pebble leather. Easy on/off with zipper. Looks great over jeans and with skirts. I wish they came in black!

Theses boots are beautiful. The leather is thick and soft. The gray is more of a taupe though. The boot shaft was a little tight but it does stretch out as you wear them.

These made me understand the hype over Frye boots! Love them. Great color, used the spay oil made by Frye-darkened em a bit: exact result I wanted. They do not look grey in the smoke color at all-a dark shade of worn looking brown-perfect alternative to basic black-goes with everything, but has a more unique and rugged look. The narrow calf issue- not a problem, I have muscular calves. A little snug at first, but after wearing for a couple days they feel great. And I went to my shoe repair guy (they were rubbing the back of my heel a bit-easy fix), got a tiny insert-completely fixed! I will wear the hell outta these for the rest of my life! So worth the more expensive price tag, compared to the Melissa Button. Sleek, not western looking, a classic style, but with that noticeable 'Frye' sturdiness. :-)

I absolutely love my new Frye boots! I wanted tall boots that didn't overly emphasize my skinny calves and this style's slightly smaller circumference is still loose, but perfectly acceptable. I love the gorgeous Redwood color and the excellent workmanship have already elicited compliments the first time I wore them.

I love these boots! I usually have a hard time finding boots for my small calves - these are perfect! They were actually tight the first wear and I was a little nervous that they would be too tight, however, after one wear the leather stretched out perfectly and I can wear over skinny jeans and they are so comfortable! I love Frye boots and I love Zappos!

Love these boots. These are my second pair of Frye's. Super comfortable from the first wearing. I get compliments from men and women every time that I wear them. I have small calves, and these boots are a perfect fit as it's hard for me to find boots that fit. I'm not easy on my shoes, and I can scuff these up and wear them well, and it only adds to their character. Looks good with dresses and jeans. Highly recommend.

Was really looking forward to these boots but they did not work. :( The ankle width was way too wide making my foot slide forward. Disappointed as I have been looking for a fitted boot for a long while! Otherwise a beautiful boot! Rich color and leather.

Boyfriend ordered me two pairs of Fryes for Christmas and these and the Melissa Button. Such a hard decision! I ended up going with the Melissa because it's a bit softer of a look on my small frame, but it was really close. I usually wear an 8.5, but the 8 in this style fit great. Super comfortable and stylish. It's hard to go wrong with anything Frye in terms of quality. Not the ones for me, but definitely a contender. Fit my narrow calf really well.

These boots are not for women with large calves. I am 5'7" and 150 lbs, size 8-10, and have muscular, but not large calves. These boots fit my calves beautifully, they are more stove pipe like than most other boots. I wear a 9½ and never size down for Fryes, but have had to size up for some Fryes. However these fit true to size. I love the fact that they do not flare at the top; they look smashing and sexy. I have had at least eight pairs of Fryes and these are my favorites so far. I bought the sand color, which is rich and pretty and neutral. They will go with everything. The leather is thick and the zipper is genius, it will keep these boots from bagging at the ankle. These are beautiful boots and they are worth every penny. Zappos' super fast shipping was outstanding, as usual. I am a happy customer.

Thicker leather, chunkier heel and sole. About and inch of difference between the circumference of calf and top of boot. Too heavy of a look for me but I love them. Lots of room in the toebox too.

I love these boots. They are very stiff and are taking some time to break in but they are lovely all the same. Tight in the calf but have stretched a tiny bit and I am able to now wear them over skinny jeans with a little effort.

I am a true FRYE admirer and was very excited to get these boots. I ordered them on the morning of Columbus Day and received them Tuesday evening. I was shocked at the speed of the service. The boots are beautiful. I want them in every color. My only issue is that there is a slight taper at the top, and I have muscular calves. they were a little too snug. I am contemplating whether I should return them based on that information alone.

Great boots! I ordered dark brown in size 10. The reviews said true to size, but they're too big. So, I have a long wait for a 9.5, but it's worth it. The color is perfect, the leather is thick not flimsy. I have a skinny calf and the circumference is perfect. I love the short zipper, helps to pull your pant leg into the boot. I think I need to have a "Frye Boot" section in my closet.

What a classic well made boot! Sure this boot is pricey but it makes for the perfect investment piece that will last for years! They are classic looking so I love that I can wear them with a lot of different looks. They're true to size and very comfy! They look great with skirts and skinny jeans! I got them in stone and they are a grayish brown color. I like that the color is a pretty neutral color. Best of all, they fit my skinny little calves and this a typical problem for me. Definitely worth the money!
