Not the same as the M574. I saw these on sale in black and bought a pair for myself and one for my husband. He goes through about two pairs of the M574s every year, and we find those to be great shoes. We both returned these shoes. The M574 is a combination of suede and nylon material, mostly suede, the nylon lends some breathability to the shoe. These shoes, however, are mostly nylon, with suede as an accent. To be blunt they look cheap. They don't feel the same when you put them on either, the M574s have more structure and feel like a solid foundation on your foot. These shoes collapse across your foot and kind of pull down at the edges. I say shell out a little extra for the M574.

I was excited to see that these came in Wide (EE) width and disappointed when the "wide" variety felt just as narrow as the normal width version. It's a shame because these are some great looking shoes!

I bought this shoe and after 2 weeks of light wear the rubber on the toe is already coming unglued. Very disappointed in quality. In addition, there's a considerable difference in size between the 8.5 and 9—if the former is too tight, the latter may fit you quite large. I decided to stick with the larger size but ultimately it is too roomy and not a good fit.

This shoe is awful. Within a weak of owning it developed an awful squeak. By the end of week two the shoe was terribly worn down. I've owned New Balances before and have never had a shoe that wore so quickly and poorly. This shoe will likely make me stay away from New Balances in the future - don't know what happened to their quality.

I ordered these for my boyfriend and they looked a great in person. Seemed to be really well made and very sturdy. Unfortunately, they were too small so I had to return them. The Zappos return system was simple to use and I got my refund in about a week or less. If Zappos was to ship to Canada, I would have most definitely ordered another pair and had them sent to him there.

I've owned New Balance shoes for many years, and I have four pairs now. In fact, the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned were New Balance! The ML501 is too small and too narrow, even though it is marked the same size (8 1/2 EE) as the pair of New Balance shoes I took off to try these on! I've ordered the next size up, and will post again if that was the solution. If that doesn't work I'm in trouble, as Zappos is out of EE in 9 1/2.
