These are the best sandals I've ever owned and they just get better and better the more you wear them. They didn't require a breaking in period at first but they are definitely 1 size smaller which is kinda typically with flip flops. I have the Akua, Hiapo, and Kia'a in 12 but wear 11 size shoes. These are much better than the Hiapo and definitely worth the price difference. If you're choosing between Akua and Hiapo go with the Akua, but remember to order 1 size larger than you wear in a sneaker. The quality of the Akua is obvious as soon as you pull them out of the box, they are very classy and the materials and craftsmanship are top notch. I wear them daily and they can take moderate abuse and they don't have any funky odor to them at all which is a problem with many leather sandals like Rainbows. I've tried countless flip flops brands and Olukai is my first choice when searching for my next flip flops, but I still go back to my Akua. Order 1 size larger than you typically wear.

Love these sandals. They are comfortable with great arch support and I get favorable comments whenever I wear them. The only problem is that I wear a ten and 1/2 and they don't come in half sizes. I bought an 11 and they are just a touch too large. For this price Half sizes would be expected.

I want to start by saying I love OluKai sandals. I have three pairs and wear them basically every day. And living in Florida, I meant almost 365 days a year. My issue with these and the other pair of Akua's I have in black are that the rubber patches on soles of the sandals are widely spaced. The rest of the sole is leather. While I do wear them more than most probably do, I would expect the leather portion of the soles to be protected better than they are. The leather on the edges and between the rubber patches already shows serious scuffs from walking on concrete. I am very careful with them because they are some of the most expensive shoes I own. But they still look pretty bad. These Charcoal/Dark Java in particular show much more wear on the bottom because of the lighter leather. The black pair hide it much better. These are awesome looking sandals but I would highly suggest going for the full rubber sole OluKai's if you plan to wear them near concrete.

I have several OluKas. GREAT sandals. BUT, when I ordered my latest pair, there were two problems: 1) The size ran small. My foot barely was contained on the top of the sandal. They were wearable, but snug. 2) I ordered them in BLACK. The first time it rained, the black dye ran and stained the blond interior and floor mats of my vehicle. Had to return them, but will reorder in a natural color.

These sandals were comfortable and stylish but completely fell apart after one season of moderate use. I would expect a sandal at this price to last longer.
