Customer Reviews New Balance WW577 Hook and Loop

Actually, the number inside my white New Balance is 576. It is a few years old. I have not worn it much because the soles were so slippery on carpet I felt I might fall. This is the only pair I have ever had trouble with out of years of ordering New Balance Ex Wide for special insert wear. I think the 577 would be the newest version of this 576.?? I have always found New Balance to be comfortable and well fitting. I will reorder soon.

I love these shoes. I had a pair just like them that were getting worn out and was so glad Zappos had them and at a good price. They're very comfortable from the moment I put them on and I am on my feet a lot.

I ordered 3 sneaker styles from Zappo's (whom I love, by the way -- FANTASTIC service!!) in order to try out an EE width (that's the DOUBLE wide) in an effort to simply find a comfortable pain-free shoe - 2 New Balance and one Saucony - and they are ALL going back due to lack of comfort/ not wide enough. Full disclosure: I do have a bunionette (tiny bunion at base of pinkie toe) in addition to wide feet, so that may make my review less applicable to you...? Anywho... the New Balance 577 was almost a contender, but I couldn't make it past an hour and a half in it, with marked discomfort at 30 mins. It's appearance is rather big and clunky (even in a sz. 7 and 7-1/2), the shoe is a little stiff-ish, and the tongue almost cuts into the ankle front since the top velcro strap is located so high up. Unlike some reviewers, the velcro WAS long enough for my feet, leaving only about a half inch gap of "unvelcro-ed" area on my larger foot, and none on my smaller foot. If you have high arches, the velcro probably won't be quite long enough...? I loved the idea of the quick-on-and-off velcro straps, but unfortunately, this model KILLED my bunionettes, just as much as regular width shoes do. I am very discouraged about trying to find shoes to fit my wide feet. If anybody has some tips, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Got these for my daughter with autism as she is 12 and cannot tie laces. The Velcro type laces work great for her. In addition it is a comfortable looking and feeling shoe. Wish I had a pair! A bit pricey but I think they will wear well and last for a long time.

Easy on and off, looks smart, better than a traditional athletic shoe. Bone color gets compliments and best of all shoe is comfortable from day one.

The shoes fit great. The price was very reasonable. I have my walking shoes for the summer. Thank you.

I've owned half a dozen of these walkers. I like the ease of velcro closures (arthritis in thumb and fingers make laces a literal pain), and the variable width as well. (One foot is a 6.5D, the other an 8C. The toe box is wide, which is important for my wide feet. I walk 3-4 miles, 2-4 times a week, so the shoes get a lot of mileage. They last about 10 months.

I love Zappos. I cannot believe how quickly my shoes arrived with free shipping. This is my second pair of these shoes. New Balance makers great shoes!

Nice fit. Very stable. Good toe room. The tongue of the right shoe hits my ankle painfully when driving, but I am hoping that abates with additional wear.

Nice shoes, however, the straps are not long enough to get the shoe tight enough to actually give support to the foot and ankle, anyhow on me, I have joint problems, the straps were just too short.

Great shoe for walking. The fit is perfect and it is really comfortable. I love the hook and loop closure...much easier on my arthritic hands.

Love the hook and look closure! This model is very comfortable for me and so I've had several pairs. Now that NB has apparently resolved the horrible odor issue with this model, I shall keep wearing them. It would be good, however, if NB would resolve the odor issue with all its models.

Nice leather shoe. two major problems : the two straps across each foot that serve in lieu of laces are much too short. They do not stay hooked. The other issue is that tongues are so long they came close to brushing my kneecap. very disappointing, Just ordered a different brand, trying shoes with laces this time. Now I will knock on neighbors doors to get laces tied for me. That assumes that some of my neighbors have hands undamaged by arthritis. Life is complicated

Unfortunately, the main criticism expressed in these reviews about the straps being too short, leaving a lot of velcro exposed, is true. I ordered a pair of these, hoping they'd be fine for me but when they arrived and I put them on, the stop strap on both shoes left a good 1 1/2 to 2 inches of velcro exposed. I don't have fat feet but I DO have high arches. Perhaps those who are having problems with the short straps are also those with high arches. Regardless, New Balance should make the straps long enough to cover the velcro with room to spare. Who wants to have their slacks snagged or socks caught on velcro? I'm disappointed because the shoes themselves feel quite comfy but with the velcro issue, they had to go back.

I sent these shoes to my 100 year old mother. She is wearing them but she thinks they feel heavy. I think that's because she's been wearing thin soled shoes with minimal support.

I have purchased this style WW577 Hook and Loop walking shoes from Zappos a few times. The arrival time is always fast. I love these shoes. However, the pair I have just received seem to be squeaking when walking. I have not had squeaking before. I will walk on them for several days and hopefully, the squeaking will resolve.
