half size too small

Love this shoe - but wore them all day with my orthodics and my foot slide forward causing my big toe pain at the end of the day. Will try again with a different pair of socks. If this doesn't work - I'm stuck with an expensive pair of shoes I can't wear.

I purchased these in my usual size 8.5 2EE. They usually are great right from the start, but this last pair was tight and stiff. I called Zappos and got a nice lady who said I could exchange them. I said let's try 9EE even tho I never had a 9 before. They arrived and I still am not sure. I have only worn them around the house and put plastic bags over them to avoid getting the soles dirty. I don't know if I am going to keep them or not. The size may be too large - hard to tell when you only wear them in the house. I don't know if New Balance has changed their sizing or what, but I always felt great with 8/5 EE. I guess I will keep them for a while to figure it out. I usually love these shoes and wear them as soon as they arrive and they feel great. Don't know what happened this time. They say assembled in the U.S. but the contents are from another country, probably China. I hope this has nothing to do with this problem fitting my foot this time.

I wanted to like this shoe. I have lymphedema in my feet, and it is so hard to find a shoe that fits comfortably! The seam inside the shoe where the tongue is sewn in is quite thick, pressing down into my swollen feet, causing immediate pain. There was also a flaw in one shoe that would have ruined it in a short time. I mentioned this in a note to Zappos, so that it would not accidentally be sold to another unsuspecting customer. Sigh. I'll keep looking.

Altho this was a comfortable shoe, I had to return it because the heels were slipping. I love New Balance shoes, but this one just wasn't right for me.

They are nice sneakers with reasonable price. However, as many reviews pointed out, it does not have any cushion. They are fine looking and comfortable shoes but since I have to be on my feet all day, I don't think I can wear them. I think they can be good for just everyday walking shoes. Sadly I am returning them.

I have always been very happy with my New Balances purchases, until this pair. I had just returned the previous pair because I needed to order a half size larger, so when the newest pair arrived I put them on and wore them around the house for a couple hours. About 2 hours into my "fitting" they started to squeak! Every step I took. Didn't take long for me to take them off and package them back up. Off they go. I'll try a different style.

These look good and fit my bunion area well. Unfortunately, the padding at the ankle area was too high and rubbed my ankles badly. I had to return them, appreciating Zappos return policy.

I need extra wide shoes to accommodate my orthotics, which I use in place of the NB footbeds. These shoes are wide enough, but they pucker -- perhaps too wide?. The construction doesn't seem as good as other shoes I've had in the past, but the price was low, too. I'm anxious to see how long they hold up.

I love the fit of this shoe but it is not white. It's more of a light taupe. I am picky and returning for another pair. Which I hope will be white.

Although these were long enough for my feet - my toes weren't too close to the end - the tongue of the shoe rubbed painfully on the front of my foot while trying them around the house. Narrower in the toe area than expected. They're not as garish as a lot of walking shoes and I like that they're made in the US.

This is my 4th or 5th pair of these shoes. All the others have been same size/width. This one was off. I guess the lasts slipped or something. If you have big, wide, flat feet, these are marvelous usually. I'm very disappointed in this one. Also, considering what has to go in them, you cannot expect them to look like Jimmy Choo shoes if you have Hobbit feet. Seriously, folks. They are what they are. If they make your feet feel good, who cares what they look like.

I cannot give this shoe a honest review because of my unusual feet problems. I wore this shoe for a few short periods of time around the house. I am getting desperate to find a shoe that makes me feel at home in them. I have just placed an order for Reebook because I have had better luck with those shoes in the past. Reebook shoes can run short so I order a half size bigger. You great and timely service is very nuch appreciated here.

New Balance shoes made on the SL-2 last used to have a nice wide toe box and narrow heel. With this generation of shoe, the toe box is much narrower and the heel is wider, so now I will have to find another brand I guess. Also, this leather is stiff and squeaks a lot. It would have been nice if it was a nice quality leather walking shoe with plenty of room for toes, and if it had held my heel so it didn't slip.

I've always worn a size 8.5 and have worn New Balance before but these were way too small and had to return them for bigger size. Bought them because MADE IN AMERICA!

Comfortable but would enjoy them more if one of the shoes didn't squeak. May have to see if they can be exchanged since the squeak is annoying.

The shoe was comfortable at first but after wearing for several weeks I don't feel that nice "cush"...they seem real flat to me. They didn't have the best arch support either. I liked the wide toe area and I liked the way they looked, just not comfy.

I have worn New Balance 400 for years but it seems to be unavailable. This style is very wide. Since they will stretch some with use, I cannot use this shoe. Love the leather and style, just way too wide.

I was really looking forward to wearing this shoe, especially after reading the positive comments. Unfortunately, the fit was not ideal for me. I think the wider width allowed my foot to slip forward, with the result of the end of my big toe hitting the inside of the toe box. Sending them back today.

The lacing area and tongue are so stiff it rubbed the front of my ankle raw.

I wear between a 12 and 12 1/2 in women's sizes. Frequently a 12 will fit but without extra room. These might have worked for me if they had not been SO stiff. I felt like I couldn't bend my foot at all. Perhaps a larger size would have accommodated more give, but I don't think so.
