This is a relatively inexpensive shoe but I somehow expected it both to look better and be better made. It was kind of clunky/cheap looking. It was at least a half size too small, more like a medium than a wide, and had almost no cushioning in the toe bed. I loved the color but they had to go back.

I ordered this shoe at the same time as I ordered a pair of Asics GT-2160s in the same size. There was no comparison; the Asics was a much better shoe! These shoes looked better than I expected and had good soles, but the cushioning and arch support was quite poor by comparison. Then, too, every time I took a step the heel slipped; it was as if the heel cup was too shallow. I'd also purposefully bought both pairs a bit longer and wider than I normally wear so that I could put a good insole in them. Well, the insole that actually came with these shoes was pathetic, and with the heel slippage, putting in any other insole just made the problem that much worse. Perfectly adequate shoes, but if you want ones that you can walk in all day, buy the Asics.

I regularly go to New Balance for wide shoes, but these were way too narrow! I tried them on with thinner socks than I would normally wear and they were way too narrow, can't even imagine wearing them with thick athletic socks! They are going back, and I am trying again.

The sneakers arrived the next day! I love that New Balance are made in the U.S. but they are a tad snug compared to other shoes I own in the same size.

I thought I really liked these shoes, they are comfortable and nice looking. However, they started feeling like they were 2 years old, very hard and uncomfortable. I was shocked to see that I only had them for barely 7 months, especially since I rotate them with 2 other pairs of shoes. (I am a nurse and wear this type of shoe every single day, even on my days off) I voted moderate arch support because that's how they appeared to be, but I wear orthotics and can't say for certain. And now with all the Susan J Komen and Planned Parenthood business, I am not buying any New Balance products at all. I don't want to get all political during a shoe review but I don't support Planned Parenthood at all.

I wear nothing but New Balance shoes for walking/hiking. I've always been pleased with their comfort and quality. Unfortunately this pair of shoes, while comfortable, was not up the the quality I'm used to from New Balance. After only about eight wearings, the fabric lining inside the shoe has already begun to wear through. The edges of the hole in the left shoe were so rough they left a large blister on my heel after a short hike. In order to wear these shoes I'll have to wear band aids on my heels. Also unfortunately, Zappos does not consider premature wear to be a defect and will not allow me to return these shoes for credit.
