Zappos! QUIT CRAMMING IT IN THIS LITTLE BOX!! Both of these that i ordered came smashed. I cannot gift a smashed hat. ???????????

I bought this hat for sun protection and it seems to do the job quite well. It is also light and relatively cool. The chin strap is handy for windy days. Not the most stylish but certainly serves the purpose well.

I got this for my father in law, and he really liked it. Unfortunately it came, crushed into a box, and is unusable. Seriously, Zappos, whats the job requirements for working in your shipping dept? They must be only that you walk upright, and have a four chamber heart...laughable!

Love this hat for days on the lake paddle boarding. Great wire brim that allows you to shape the edges and I prefer the cowboy style shape. Drawstring keeps it in place, as I have a small head!

Best I have found, and I tried three other brands. First crown not too tall, fix t0o long oval, great ventilation. Brim doesn't flop around or bend up in a wind, stays put shading eyes and ears. My concern about papyrus material was for not it appears fairly substantial.

I wore this hat everyday for a week during a raft trip down the Grand Canyon, it kept my head warm when needed, cool when hot, and kept the sun off my face! Loved it !!!

Best hat yetmuch cooler than other ORs. I took a chance buying this and hit a home run.

This hat breathes and on a hot summer day when I am out walking/hiking/sitting in a sidewalk cafe, this is extremely helpful in keeping my head cool. I have sat on my hat, packed it in my suitcase and yes it has lost it's shape but it still looks great on and I can't cope with the summer heat without it.

My 2nd Papyrus Brim Sun Hat. I spend a lot of time hiking in the desert and have fair skin, so I want good sun protection with ventilation and durability. The headband has held up to a lot of sweat and repeated hand washing. The brim is just the right width to not obscure my vision whether canyoneering or in the forest. Over the years my 1st OR hat has taken all the abuse I give it: days long sweat, stuffing it in my backpack and carryon, cooling off in stream crossings, repeated washings. Happy that OR still make this.

Lightweight and comfortable. Just what I needed for sun protection.

My husband works outside and really needs protection from the sun. He was noticeably cooler when he wore the hat.

I originally bought this hat for a trip to Costa Rica. I wanted a hat to stuff in a bag, but be ready to go in hot/sunny weather. This worked great. The hat survives being smashed just fine and looks good hiking through the forest or hanging on the beach. I liked this hat so much that it has now become my go to hat for fair weather alpine adventures. It is light enough that I don't mind carrying it. Or stuffing it in a pack when it is time to wear a helmet.

I cannot tell you how much I love the papyrus hat. I am a master naturalist and thus spend a good deal of time in the field throughout the year. The papyrus is everything I need out of a full coverage sun hat, which breathes remarkably well and dries quickly. It's easy to reshape it (just add water), if you're going for the Indiana Jones look or it simply gets crushed.

I have had this hat for about 5 years (If not this exact model, a very similar one by outdoor research). I do lawn care and landscaping for a career, and coach track and field and fish for hobbies. I need excellent protection from the sun and I beat up my hats and gear, this hat had been through the gauntlet and back and has been fantastic. Lightweight and breathable, doesn't hold sweat all day. I spray it with a water hose at the end of the day to clean it and it's been around for this long. About to buy a second one only because I stretched out the hat band.

I think it's a great hat. I got the current one as a replacement for one that I flat wore out over four years of hard abuse and hard weather down south.

I don't know why the previous reviewer said this hat would not hold up under water and weather. I have sailed singlehanded to Hawaii with this hat, on through gales and squalls, sat on it while wet, worked with it on for over a year,squished it into sea bags, and just beat the heck out of it. It remains cool, comfortable, and completely intact (Well, ok, the shape is a bit different that it was when I bought it). I cannot say enough about how impressed I am with it.

I purchased this hat over a year ago as a wilderness therapy guide. It's still kicking as my main field hat, well-seasoned with screen and sweat. The flexibility of the brim on the backside doesn't impede or irritate me while hauling my backpack. The underlining is impermeable enough to allow me to wear it through all but solid downpours (it's a good indicator of how long I've bee tromping around when it begins to leak through). If it gets warped from stuffing in my bag, a quick strap up on the sides gets it back in shape in no time. All around excellent sunhat.

Use it for wildlife work in the mountains (6,000-12,000' elevation), across the West. I spend enough days outside, under full sun all day, that thinking about skin cancer is a must. These hats must earn their keep, when I get them -- they seem to do that !

Hat arrived looking nice. Left in hot car and it seemed to pucker up. That said, it has wire in the brim that tweets out the shape of the hat. It is non-mailable and therefore does its own thing. Looks stupid on. Total waste of money.

Hat material dissolves immediately if it gets wet. Lasted less than a month. This is a sun hat that was built to live indoors. An average paper towel is more robust. Shameful.

I like that it is stylish, provides great shade, and is flexible enough to be comfortable.

Beat hat foe anything. Band I can't ez Explain why exactly. Just a really smart hat
