My 10 year old son loves this shoe. It's not quite a sandal, which he didn't want, but it's light and airy just like a sandal. Perfect shoe for him.

My brother who lives in Costa Rica recommended this shoes when he came to visit me in Calif. I wanted the same page he had which is the black/gargoyle but they didn't offer it in woman's size. I sent an email to Zappos customer service asking if they could tell me what size men's would equal an 8-1/2 to 9 in women's. They couldn't tell me. So I ordered the 7-1/2 men's and it fit like a charm. I have wide feet and they sweat a lot! These shoes take care of all that. My toes can move and even though the temp outside was 90+ my feet stayed cool. It's very well insulated. I could even feel the air conditioning coming through the shoe in my car! It's amazingly cool.

Love these shoes. This recent purchase at Zappos was replacing a pair of Keens that I wore for regularly for ten years before they finally gave out. I use these for rough gravel areas in a hot humid climate. They vent but don't let gravel in. The full rubber toe keeps your feet safe and helps the shoe wear better. Local retailers did not carry this style, great to be able to get them so easily at Zappos.

I've put a couple hundred miles under these over the last few months, and I can't say enough good things about them. I wear them primarily for walks and short hikes with the dog on a variety of surfaces (pavement, gravel, packed dirt, riverbeds, sand). As other reviewers have noted, these run a little big. Size 13 shoes usually run a little snug for me, but 13s in these are a perfect fit. I love the wider toe box, which encourages a more natural walking motion. But unlike many minimalist shoes, these provide solid lateral stability and great traction on almost any surface. The only complaints I can come up with are: (1) the insoles don't want to stay in place after several washes; and (2) while the mesh keep pebbles out, it's not as effective when it comes to sand.

Easy on. Easy Off. Looks good. Goes with most clothing. Where the rubber meets the road. Where the rubber meets the turf. The Keen McKenzie matches both green grass, and pavement equally well. Larger - these shoes are much larger than the stated size.

These keep out bits of crushed bark from the trail that I walk on every day. That's reason I bought them - I always had bits of bark underfoot when wearing my open Keen sandals. Only complaint is that the removable insole sticks to my foot when I take them off. Comfortable with socks in cooler weather.

There is no way to describe how happy I was to find these. You can now wear thin socks with sandals that look like shoes. No social etiquette issues here. You can also go with no socks and wash the foot beds when they start to 'need' it. That is so cool. They are comfortable and you can make them even more so if you put in the 2 ounce miracle foot beds (find on Amazon). I have been dreaming of even creating my own brand of sandals with these features. I bought 5 pairs as I want them to last me forever. Keens last a long time so the pairs I bought should last 20+ years easily. You will love them.

I bought these shoes after owning the Keen Ambler. I wanted sandals without the sandal look and these are just that. They are very comfortable with lots of room in the toe box.

This is my second pair of Keen shoes. I've thoroughly enjoyed both pairs. I wear them daily in a large warehouse store with bare concrete floors. I recommend them highly.

My FAVORITE shoes! I live in Washington state and wear these year round (always with socks), every day! Even in winter (as long as I don't step in water I'm fine). My feet get hot all year round so I needed a shoe that lets my feet breath and these do the trick. The only reason I have a 4/5 on comfort is that I have wear inserts for padding in the shoe as it lacks any insole suppport. But that is an easy fix. I'm actually back online to order another pair as I have basically worn out my other pair.

This is my current everyday shoe. My older feet require extra cushioning so I added a Croc's silver insole under the McKenzie's regular insole. This makes them as good as it gets.

Awesome shoe. Sort of fits like a slipper. Super comfortable and airy. Nice! They ran a touch bigger than accurate size. I am a dead on "10" and probably could have used a 9.5.

The McKenzies work well for wet-footing and portaging during canoe trips. Spent two weeks paddling in Ontario, and these shoes performed well over long, rocky and swampy portages while I was carrying a heavy load.
They dry out in the sun in a couple of hours.
The only negative is that they don't have a lot of ankle support, so if you have weak ankles this might be a problem.

I normally wear Keen's in a size 10.5, but I ordered the McKenzie in size 10 and they are really too big. Wish I had ordered a size 9.5. They seem to run large by as much as a whole size relative to other Keens I have worn or tried on, a half size relative to other shoes. The shoe is excellent - it's really like a sandal with a webbing upper that breathes very well and keeps my feet cool even though I wear them with socks, and also keeps out debris and rocks. A nice feature is that the heel section folds down flat so if you can slide into and out of them like a clog, if you're in a hurry. I have tried the Newports, and while they never fit comfortably on my feet, the McKenzies are very comfortable, just a little too loose - and I like a really loose and roomy fit.

Love these shoes/sandals/slip-ons. I first bought size 8's, but they were a little to big so I went down a half size. One annoyance with them. The laces are way too long. The pull tab can be taken apart and the laces shortened though. I've always bought Teva's in the past. It's nice to have more choices in casual/athletic footwear.

My husband is the pickiest...but he put these on right out of the box and wore them for all of our vacation. They are his new favorites. The only con is the yellow in the insole comes off on your socks.

I own a pair of these already and am ordering more. I love these shoes. Working in the Middle East and traveling to SE Asia on my time off has me buying a lot of hiking and work shoes, typically either Keen's or Merrill's. I've tried both, but ended up loving the Keen's more. This will be my 6th pair, and second pair of this style. It's obviously not for damp or cold weather, since the sides are mesh between the leather strips, but it's nice when a breeze blows through to feel it on your toes during a hot summer day.

This is my 3rd pair of Keens. Both my wife and I love them. In fact, we love them so much, that on trips to China and Turkey we each took only one pair of shoes: our Keens. We wore them every day for 30 days with no complaints. I bought this particular pair as they are just a bit 'dressier' than my other pairs. The best feature about Keens is the fit. They are always true to size.

One of the best summertime shoes I ever wore. Great for boating and fishing. I just had to add some soft arch supports and I could walk in them all day without any knee or back pain.

Went up a size and they fit my wide feet well with the mesh outsides (usually wear a 13-13.5 EE and got these in 14), just a little loose in the front due to being slightly larger size to accommodate the width I need. Overall the shoes are doing well, fine without socks or with the no-show hidden socks if I'm going to be indoors with a/c. I like that these are hybrid types of shoes they feel light and airy like my sandals but with the covered toes if I'm doing a lot of walking in parks and roads since I live in an urban downtown area. Will be throwing these in my travel bag as well as the lack of heavy materials on the top means they compress really well.

My first Keen shoe. They feel so comfortable that I bought a Keen sandal next. I plan to try running in this shoe as the lower heel makes for a more natural running position. A great runner I know swears by running in Keen shoes. He says they last many more miles than running shoes.

For heavy river use, I switched to the Keen McKenzie when Merrell's redesign of the once great Manistee Pro turned out to be an utter failure. The McKenzie is not as good as the original Manistee Pro, but is much better than the current Merrell offering. Keen Pros: Excellent toe box: Keen bucks the ballerina toe trend and offers a shoe for users with 5 toes on each foot. Decent support: able to scamper and climb over river rock with surefooted-ness. Grip on wet terrain is acceptable. Acceptable, not great. Laces: while needlessly long, are actual lace material, not the typical do-nothing bungee cord laces found on other water shoes. Fold down heel: nice to be able to just slip these on when around camp. Keen cons: They stink: After several years of water use with my Manistee Pro's they still smelled new. The McKenzie's stink after just a few uses. I blame the cheap foot bed insert which appears to optimized for cost, not quality. Inserts: Water shoes should not come with footbed inserts. Keen can do it with the H2, I'm not sure why this shoe has an insert to begin with. Lace clamp and resulting loop: Cord loops and whitewater can result in foot entanglement/entrapment. Cut the plastic cord ends off and let the ends fly loose if you plan to take these out on whitewater.

Great. Lightweight. Very comfortable. I only find that the laces becomes loose occasionally and I have to tighten them again, but that happens with all shoes from time to time.

I normally wear a wide shoe but these were super wide, and a little too long. Definitely need to go down probably 1 size from your normal size for these. Also the front are so wide they looked a little cartroony. Seemed like they would be very comfortable if they fit your foot though!
