The McKenzie is a good shoe, typical Keen quality, but it needs a more firm sole to be used for anything other than a water shoe. If you plan to use it for more general use, do yourself a favor and replace the thin removable inner pad with a thicker one with more support. I found some with good arch support and I'm now very happy with the McKenzie.

I usually extol Keen products. I have some foot issues and am very specific about what I need to wear. This sandal is lighter than others, but for full protection and a sturdier support system go with the Newport H2.

These Keens were too wide. My husband has had Keens before and loved them, but these just didn't work.

Love Keens, especially Amblers, Finleys, Austins and the sandals. Liked the looks of this; reviews said they ran large and Zappos only had 10's (I usually wear 10.5) so I figured these would be okay. Right out of the box the left foot felt tight. I was a little nervous, so I checked and clipped my nails then put in Aetrex size 10 orthotics. They fit perfectly and are typically super comfortable. No complaints at all. There have been comments about the shoes smelling pretty bad, so I am ordering some Darn Tough socks to see if that helps. Great shoes and great price. Wore them 2 days straight and loved them, what else is new.

Love Keen and Zappos even more! These McKenzie are holding up well, and after my girl friend tipped over our canoe in the river one time, I can assure you these shoes dry out quickly! Wish the foot bed was a little less firm for more comfort. Overall a good shoe you expect from Keen.

Great Shoe. It combines the ventilation of a sandal and the support of a shoe. Unlike a sandal, it's easy to add an insert which I like to do for longer hikes. I wish they made a true lace up version of this to achieve a slightly more secure fit. Also, it could use more arch support, which is why an aftermarket insert helps. But, it's still very supportive and comfortable. One of Keen's best products.

Lighter weight than Keen sandals, the sole is also more flexible, more like a sneaker. They also look more like a sneaker for times when a sandal is less appropriate. A comfortable and versatile shoe.

I love Keen shoes! The only issue I have found is the back heel support droops a little. They are comfortable, roomy, and air gets in to cool off your feet and there is room for custom inserts.

My husband loves these shoes! He says they are ultra lightweight and his feet are not tired at the end of the day. They are great water shoes! This is the third pair that I have bought for him. I get him a new pair every summer in a different color but his old ones are still good. I just like to get him new ones!

These are great shoes! Keen quality in lightweight summer shoes. They are great for running errands, light hiking, not too serious biking, or just working in the yard.

I purchased the McKenzie to have a lightweight sandal like shoe for travel that would provide cushion on hard surfaces and good heel hold on uneven ground. Well done Keen. Thanks to Zappos superb service we got the right size on two tries and one defective manufacturing return.

Believe the hype. These shoes are as great as everyone says. I resisted for quite some time, fearing that Keens were a passing fad. But I've been converted. These are the most utilitarian and comfortable shoes I have ever owned. The webbing on the sides keeps out leaf litter and stones, while maximizing ventilation. Support is wonderful. Not fatigue, and very little break in time required.

I'd never heard of Keen before I found these shoes by chance while traveling in Montana. The store where I found them didn't have my size, but Zappos.com had them at the same price. They definitely run large -- I'm usually an 11 in athletic shoes and the 10 in this one is roomie. I tend to drag my toe involuntarily when I walk, so this sandal-alternative was especially appealing to me for hanging around the house, running errands in summer, and the occasional boating/pool/river sport outing. I have high maintenance feet, but so far these shoes have been super comfy and appear to be very well constructed.

I actually find that Zappos' assessment that this shoe runs 1/2 size small is the opposite of my experience. I normally wear size 13 Keens, but I wear a size 12 Newport H2. I find that (like the Newport H2) this shoe fits me better in 12 than my normal 13. Light and comfy.

I canoe, hike, and camp. Since I have wide feet, finding good outdoor shoes is a challenge. I bought McKenzies to use as day shoes on the river but my plans have changed. The McKenzies fit like Keen Newport H2s (especially the width and toebox) but are more comfortable. However, the heel strap on the McKenzie fails to grip the heel the way the heel strap does on the Newport H2. Since many shoes are lost on the river due to poor heel grip, I cannot use the McKenzies for their original purpose. All is not lost, though, because I like these shoes so much that they are now my light hikers, as well as my camp shoes to wear in the evening while my day shoes dry out. For day shoes, I bought Salomon Techamphibians. They lack the roominess of the Newport H2s but the mesh exterior offers more protection for my feet than the open Newport H2s.

These run a little large (I needed a 9.5 and I usually wear a 10) and quite wide. My feet are wide across the ball of the foot so the width in that area was nice. However, the heel of these shoes is also very wide. It takes quite a bit of tension on the laces to cinch up the heel to the point where it doesn't slip. There are several seams inside the shoe that will need to wear smooth before they are comfortable for barefoot wear. Most notably, the seem just under the ankle bone on the inner side of the foot is quite rough. These shoes are well made, however, and I expect to get many years of wear out of them.

Best shoe ever. I was super bummed when they stopped selling them. I did not like the McKenzie II updated version as much. I hope they start making these again.

Had last year's model of Keen McKenzie and loved them so much that I decided to buy the new model. Keen took a great shoe and made it better. The lace is shorter so it doesn't flap around. These are truly the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. The toe box is plenty large enough to ensure there is no pressure on your bunions or toes. I use them for biking, hiking and camping all the time even though they are billed as water shoes. That's the one place I haven't tried them yet.

This are great shoes. I'm on my second pair and I wear them all the time. They are very comfortable without socks, great in the water, have good traction, are light and airy, and even look good enough to wear to work. The best thing about them is the mesh between the straps which keeps debris from getting in while letting water to drain out easily.

Ordered 10 or more shoes before I finally found a pair that I could wear in the summer that had excellent breathe-ability. Wore them through Europe and told my daughter they are the star of the trip for comfort, durability and airiness. The only minor issue is that I am sometimes aware of the mesh if I don't wear socks. Otherwise wonderful. And they look sharp.

Very comfortable shoes with or without socks. I've waded in creeks and hiked dozens of miles in the first week of having these shoes. Like all Keens, you can go as far as you like the first time you wear them. I like the mesh for keeping out trail debris -- many water shoes have a more open design. Even with the mesh, each step is a cool breeze. I may eventually replace the liner for more arch support.

This is my second pair of Keens and they were recommended by a friend (my other is a Newport H2 that I wore all last summer and fall) I think both are great, but the McKenzie can be worn everywhere! It would be nice if someone at Zappos or Keen would come up with a size comparison chart that let you know what size you would wear in the McKenzie if you wore a certain size in the Newport H2 and vice versa! In fact it would be nice to be able to compare all styles that way.
