These are great boots. I bought them in the chocolate brown for my daughter and she loves the color, style, and comfort. She had tried another pair on in a department store and found the fit a little narrow/tight, but a half size up was just right.

Say hello to your new besties! Yes, I'm referring to these insanely awesome and retardedly comfortable combat boots! So...my sis bought me these as an early Xmas present. She refuses to shop anywhere but Zappos! I never inserted my foot into anything more comfortable. I am a true size 9. But when I tried these at a store ''in the city''(yes, I live in Brooklyn!), the 9 felt humongous! And I'm telling you I'm always a size 9. Huge bummer they didn't have half size smaller (I needed exactly an 8.5) and I almost wept right there. Like literally, I'm a tough, motorcycle ridin', South American lunatic (obviously I'm a girl hence the right shoes will and do melt my heart in the end), but anyway as I was saying, I'm a toughie but at that moment when the sales guy muttered the words "size 9 is all we got" my sis handed me her scented Hello Kitty tissues because I was ready to sob. In any case, enter *drumroll* Zappos in my life, or in our lives. My sis as a surprise went home, logged onto her VIP Zappos account (love how Zappos makes everyone a VIP! Love that), and found the black Troopa - Steve Madden combat boots for me in a size 8.5. They delivered them overnight. It was a total Santa sleigh move. Except I guess too early for Santa, but anyway. I rushed to her house and she had placed the huge box under the tree for me! I jumped up and down and tore the box open with my teeth! Seriously. In any case the leather scent was intoxicating. I am used to shopping exclusively at Brooklyn thrift stores. My fave pair of boots is a vintage beat up pair of black paddock boots with kilties and little Indian charms atop the kilties. Super cute, but they're silvertaped (actually it's leopard-print-duct tape). In any case, now I have a new favorite pair. These combat boots are the most buttery feeling leather I ever touched or wore on my feet. The 8.5 is a 9. Feels like a 9. If your feet are wide, I don't know. Mine are regular width, high arches. I haven't stopped wearing these boots, even in the rain, I couldn't stop myself from wearing them. They go with everything. Preferably awesome comfy leggings, or shorts with warm printed tights. That's how I love rockin' 'em! But I cannot even wait to wear them in the summer with shorts and bare legs, or dresses, or skirts, n' whatnot. I cannot sing enough praises for these boots. It's my first pair of the ''Troopa'' by Steve Madden and I cannot wait to get more one day. My friend told me that around Herald Square they have printed ones like leopard print, flowery and faded purple solid color or faded green. I am a goth at heart and these boots are like my new best friends. They're so tough, yet so sexy, so delicate and feminine. You will never regret buying them. I hope I can wear these till I die! I get so many compliments when I wear these boots! I would, however, advise putting in insoles if you are wearing the boots on long commutes that involve some walking. They look fabulous, but you need a little extra support if you're walking in them.

These boots are actually my favorite boots of all time! I don't regret one penny that I spent on these boots! Also, these boots were definitely made for walking.

This was my first pair of Steve Madden shoes, and dear god, I am in love! I got them in black and of course, they are super stylish and go with everything. They are pretty comfortable, or at least they were after I broke them in; when I first wore them, they were still stiff so they gave me blisters, but I broke them in after about four wears, so it is fine now, and I am totally happy with these!

These boots are adorable! They are very comfortable. I can walk for miles in them with no pain. They felt slightly large but I was okay with that because I can wear thick socks in the winter and they would still feel perfect. I am very happy with this purchase.

I absolutely love these boots. They are exactly what I was looking for and Steve Madden does a great job at combining comfort and style. If you ever are thinking about them for yourself or someone else, I definitely would get them!

Love! At first they are extremely black, but once you wear them in they look vintage. I get so many compliments when I wear them and now all my friends own a pair. They are a style must-have!

Great shoes. Much cuter live than when I saw them here in the video. They can be worn with a much looser style unlaced for a great hippie look. I tried to scuff the toe area to make them look a little more worn. Bad idea. I am now looking for a polish to repair the area a little. All in all...amazing shoe.

Beautiful boots. My daughter loves them and she is a tough customer - 16 and doesn't like anything I buy her. These were a big hit!

I had ordered some cute Doc's first (one's without the giant sole) but they made my feet look tiny so I took a chance on these. I like the style. The leather scuffs fairly easily, but I wear them almost every day. Very comfortable, they fit well. Only other gripe is that when I got them the shoe laces were coated in something grimy that stained my hands. I was going to swap them out, but then it stopped happening. Hopefully these boots last a long time, I was a little nervous about the Steve Madden brand, but they seem fairly tough.

I absolutely LOVE these boots! I first bought the cognac ones and liked them so much that I ordered another pair in black the same the first pair arrived. They look great and are very comfortable from the first wearing.

I love these boots! Because they're leather, you have to break them in. So they're a little uncomfortable at first, but I love them now.

These boots are nice and soft and are a "quiet" shoe on hard floors. They are very comfortable. Cute with pants, leggings and dresses.

I really love these boots (black). They fit well and go with almost anything. I have not had any issues with the soles breaking or cracking. Although, I do not use them every day. Maybe two or three times a month. I just ordered the brown ones. I may even re-order black ones just to have an extra pair because I think they are so cute. They have a rocker look but cute at the same time.

This is the third Steve Madden combat boot I've bought in the past 3 years. It's styled exactly like the previous version, but without the scuffing. The sole is rubber and a bit easier on the feet. I love this boot...it's great with dresses, leggings, jeans...whatever. Very comfortable...feels 'broken-in' the first time you put it on.

Looked super cute and comfortable enough for daily walking. Not especially supportive but my 20-minute walking commute felt fine.

I love these boots! I've had my black ones forever and I'm actually ordering a second pair in the brown leather. So cute I love wearing them! My style is kind of all over the place but these boots always add that subtle edge that I love to have in all my outfits. I definitely recommend these boots!

I bought a pair of these at a department store two years ago for my daughter. They have been her go to boots that long. She has worn the heels down and the front is scuffed, but that doesn't stop her from wearing them. I'm going to see if the shoe repair can re-heel them and put some shoe polish on them. If not then I'm considering buying her another pair because she wears them so much. They have turned out to be a good boot and well worth the price. I paid the same for them two years ago as they are offered here.
