Unlike most hiking boots that are so bulky, heavy and 'manly' looking...these boots are really nice looking, tailored and lightweight. Wore them on a 5 mile hike right out of the box and they were really comfortable!

Great hiking boot right out of the box. True to size. Love the removable insoles so I can use my orthotics easily. Most comfortable of the 5 different styles I tried on. And, of course, LOVE Zappos - great prices, quick delivery, excellent selection. What's not to love?

I have arthritis on my toes and need a spacious toe box on my hiking boots. This boots are perfect in that sense. They are also very stylish and do not need any break in. They could use a bit more arch support, but nothing mayor. I used them for the first time on a 7 mile mountain hike. Did not get any blisters, and felt comfortable all day.

LOVE these hiking boots. I was looking for something with all the great support, but without all the flashy colors and shapes that most athletic shoes have. I ordered a half size larger as I do in all my athletic shoes and they are a perfect fit.

These things are the single best shoe purchase I've ever made in my life. I've owned them for a couple of years now and probably out well over 600 miles on them. I walk about 5-7 miles a day, and wear them most days. They're insanely comfortable, took zero time to break in, and show no signs of falling apart.

I bought these after trying them on during a trip when money was a bit short! I got home and ordered , as I went on an Italy trip with lots of hiking and walking planned. That was almost 2 years ago and these boots have been awesome to say the least. They were comfy right out of the box and I have some serious foot "issues"! I wore them daily, hiked miles up and down mtns, on endless walking tours of miles and they werecomfy and best of all, even in pouring rain, my feet were dry. 2 yrs later... still wearing them and during a rather wet hike, like deep water puddles , I got thru and the only wet feet came from water coming over the top of these great boots. Still water resistant after all the wear they have had. I hike in them each spring and Fall, wear them for yard work all summer and love them. All I have done is buy new inner soles to add support in their older age. A new pair will be ordered for a Portugal trip in Sept. I love these boots . Tried the sugar pine ones but they were not as comfy as these boots. Thanks, Ahnu!

I LOVE these boots. They are lightweight and super comfortable. I've been wearing them as hiking boots, rain boots and to walk the dog.

This is my second pair of Anhu Montana boots. My first pair was terrific they just got worn out after a year of hiking and urban adventure. I like the fact that they are not super "chunky" and I can wear them for urban adventures as well as light hiking. They provide enough support and traction for functions in the city and on the trails. I chose the grey color and I have received many compliments on them!

Stunning shoe and very comfortable to boot!

Love these boots! Fit perfectly & was able to wear right out of the box with no break in period. We have had snow then mixed with rain, lots of slush all winter long. These keep my feet nice & dry plus have been warm enough to boot...I did read the reviews before ordering & did order a 1/2 size up, glad I did because I think my foot would have hit the end otherwise.

I loved these boots but I ordered a half size up because of the reviews but they were too big. In the meantime I dscovered that my older pair of Ahnu boots are water proof. So I really didn't need this pair after all. I may order them again later after my vacation to Alaska.

Wore these just about every day for three months and no complaints. Great field boot to have in Antarctica. It was plenty warm walking between buildings at -40 but I'd say not good to stand in the snow for any length of time... Not sure if my feet just got cold or if a little moisture would get in. Once it warmed up a bit (above 0F) they were perfect. Good design and sturdy build. I'm often a 9.5 and in boots usually a 10, but these fit just right in a 9.

The boot felt more like a sneaker than a hiking boot. Did not have much support.

These fit like a glove right out of the box! I tend to hate socks, and have worn these in Michigan winters and in the Costa Rican jungle. My feet are so happy in these, and they have endured every sort of weather. I also walk a lot in them - sometimes 10-13 miles a day. These boots are not phased, and my feet, ankles, knees and hips don't complain after these walks either! Will ALWAYS come back to these boots

I haven't had the opportunity to use these in all situations yet, but did a 4 mile easy hike in them and they were comfy right out of the box. The ankle support is somewhat rigid, but was not uncomfortable for me. It will probably be good on a more strenuous hike. Wore them in 30 degrees on a windy day and my feet stayed warm and dry.

I love these boots. I did a lot of research before buying another pair of hiking boots and I can honestly say that these boots did not let me down. I took a risk trying a new brand, but I have felt as though Merrell's quality and comfort has been in decline these last couple of years. I have worn the Montara through all seasons now (even through the New England snow, harnessed in my snow shoes) and my feet have been nothing but happy, dry and blister-free. If you hate heavy boots, but like to keep your feet dry and warm, but not sweaty (who doesn't?), the Montara boot is for you. They still look brand new, despite trekking through rocky, muddy and dusty trails and even the rough streets of NYC! They don't scream, 'HIKER BOOTS', so I have worn them around town with a pair of jeans or khaki shorts. Ankle support is moderate, but I don't get on many technically difficult trails, so I can't judge as a hard-core hiker. Sole has taken a lot more wear-and-tear than my Keen and Merrell boots. Breathable, reliable, waterproof, all around great boot.

I ordered these boots based on others recommendations and am delighted with them They are lightweight and very comfortable. I love the waterproofed leather (and the muir green color). As others suggested, I ordered a holf size larger and they fit perfectly. First hike with them they were a bit stiff but didn't rub anywhere. As with all hiking boots the round shoelaces are hard to keep tied. Can't wait to to take them out for another spin soon.

These are AMAZING boots! I usually can't stand hiking boots because they're too wide and make me trip, but these have a narrow enough shape to keep me hiking along with no issues. I successfully summoned Angels Landing at Zion National Park with these boots, and I'm so glad I took the time to do my research in advance. (Biggest advice: find some good wool hiking socks! A must-have.)

I bought these along with the Ahnu North Peak to compare, and it was a tough decision between the 2, though ultimately I chose to keep the Montara. These boots have a flexible and slightly thinner sole than the North Peak, which I prefer, as I like to feel the footing when I am hiking. Since I don't do much backpacking with heavy packs, I think these boots will work ok for me, though for serious backpackers I would suggest they go with the North Peak and its thicker, heavier sole. The Montara fits snugly on my foot, I usually wear a size 9 and these are true to size, there is not a lot of extra room but I like how the shoe fits almost like a glove around my foot--it feels secure. Folks with a wider foot or who like more wiggle room might want to go up a half size. I find the laces a bit difficult to snug, maybe because they are new and because the lace is round instead of flat, but I think with time and wear this will become easier. I haven't tested out the waterproof capabilities yet, although I have been hiking in snow and so far my feet have stayed warm and dry in those conditions. While not foolproof on ice, I think the Montara offers better traction on ice & slippery rocks compared to the North Peak. Overall I'm very pleased with these boots, which I plan to use for hiking, walking, and my job as a farmer. I'm on my feet a lot in uneven terrain and wet conditions, and am hopeful that these boots will be supportive for the task.

Bought a pair of pseudo hiking boots and returned for these. I read reviews and looked at some outdoor retailers to make sure these were legit. Comfortable and will be great for some day hikes. Ended up ordering a 1/2 size down.

Awesome boot, my second pair! Needed one to hike in and one to to wear about town. Light weight, waterproof, stylish, great sole that grips the granite but not clunky for a rainy day of shopping!

These are terrific boots, but they run far longer than my other Ahnu shoes, so I returned. I had sized up 1/2 because it's a hiker, but that was unnecessary in this shoe. I've had the low Montara for years and love them also. The one design flaw is the way the tongue is sewn, which causes a little hard rock to sit on my ankle bone, and so I'm not sure if I can keep the one in my size. If that little sewn flap doesn't hit your ankle bone, then you're fine.

I have had these almost a year and they have held up very well considering how much abuse I give them. I did have to replace the insoles because I hike in very rocky places and the included insoles did not provide much cushion.
