Unfortunately these slippers DO NOT hold up. Within a few weeks the soft wool gave way and I had holes in the toe part. There should be an inner fabric liner. Poor design, I should have looked carefully when they arrived.

This is my third pair of these slippers. I love them. I wear them with Smart Wool socks and they keep my feet really warm on our cold hardwood floors. I live in the mountains and wear them every day from mid October till mid May. I make the occasional trip outside to the mailbox or recycle bin. One pair lasts 2 to 3 years. They do stretch out after the first year so the second year are a little harder to keep on my feet. The grip on the bottom starts to wear off by the end of the second year.

My toes are a tiny bit longer and heal a tiny bit shorter, than is right. I had a pair of these before and the toebox stretched out that tiny bit and they were great. These wool slippers keep my feet so comfortable in a winter house! The green is dark green, like a classic evergreen, not like the pictures.

Have searched for a warm, comfortable slipper with arch support for a long time. This is it. (Wearing these as I write the review on a cold morning.) Love the fit and lovely, red wool. Favorite slipper!

I haven't taken these slippers off since they arrived. I originally purchased the Giesswein Veitsch but the arches were too high and stiff for my very flat feet. It pained me to return them since they were such a beautiful shoe. I decided to try the Ammern slippers instead because it seemed like they were softer and had more of a moderate arch support based on the reviews. I'm so glad I did. The slipper is made of a cozy warm and soft wool which is keeping my feet toasty during the start of the New England winter season. The bottoms are not as durable and thick like the Veitsch, which was more like a shoe you could wear outside but they're so comfortable I don't even care about that. You could walk down to the mailbox in these, though. I'm so happy I tried these ones after the Veitsch's. I never thought I could find a pair of slippers with arch support. They're expensive, yes but worth every cent. Very good quality. Highly recommend.

Someone recommended the Giesswein Ammern Classic on the Sweet Home's recommendation of slippers (the site actually went with the Haflinger AS Slippers). I got these not knowing what to expect, but absolutely adore them. I'm Asian, and lived in Japan for a long time, so having "indoor shoes" I that are comfortable and easy to get in and out of is of real importance to me. I've bought many Japanese indoor slippers, but the cleanable soles, more support at the bottom, and breathability of the lambswool tops any pair of slippers I got, including some higher end ones from boutique stores in Japan and Muji. I took note of the complaints that these run small, and ordered a Men's 10 (I usually wear 9.5). The 10s fit great, with socks and without. The Wire Cutter's knocks on these slippers compared to the Halflinger don't really hold up for me. It's true that there's little arch support, but I don't need that from an indoor slipper. Amazon is also replete with reviews that state the latest version of the Halflinger is made more cheaply than before, and numerous people are stating they fall apart after several months, whereas I don't see that happening with the Giesswein.

These slippers are very comfy, soft, and not too warm. The purple color is cute too! I had to order a size larger than usual.

I bought these and Giesswein Veitsch, both fit well and were comfortable. I had to return these since the arch support was not as comfortable as the Veitsch.

These have a wonderful footbed. Ahhh. I found the wool on top thinner and scratchier than Haflingers. I have worn them for years, but I wanted the rubber on the bottom that these offered. Unfortunately I would have to wear socks due to the scratchy wool. I am very sensitive to wool, but have been able to wear halflinger slippers and clogs so I thought these would be ok. Back they go, and back to my old faves.

I loved them. Bought in May 2016, wore sparingly at home (we live in warm climate, so they get worn maybe 4 months a year, and very much not every day). They just (February 2018) developed a hole where my big toe is. Maybe something about a nail, maybe something else. Definitely did not expect them to be so fragile having paid $95 for home slippers.

Uncomfortable arch, too severe hurts to walk in. Will return and wait until Haflingers are in my size. (Have had them before and loved them).

Started wearing in October 2018, have big holes in both slippers by big toe. Wear about half the week. Doesn't hold up long enough, need to order new slippers after 6 months.

I usually buy Haflinger slippers, which I love, but they always develop a hole after several months. I tried these even more expensive slippers as a substitute, but the squishy crepe sole is very loud and uncomfortable. I kind of lurch around in these slippers and everyone in the house hears me walking around. A decent sole would make these much better. As is, I would not buy another pair. Just too expensive and feel like a drugstore brand when you walk.

Returning these slippers. I am a size 13, and ordered a 13. These run small and tight. Additionally, the soles had very little support. That was a concern of mine looking at the pictures online, but the ratings said support was good. Not true, in my experience.

They felt like a dream from the very first, and are very warm, but I am thoroughly disappointed. After a mere 4 months, the heel cushion and sole are wearing out and the interior is full of 'dust bunnies', wads of wool that I can pull out. At a cost of almost $100, I would have to say they are virtually the worst shoe I have ever purchased. Even though you wear them only in the house, you can't wear them every day, or they start falling apart. 4 months of wear is a disgrace. I expected more.

I have a narrow foot but I can wear these with socks. I wear them every day and it's been a few years now. They're getting a little worn at the heel but they're comfortable, great arch support, breathable, warm, sturdy. I'll definitely get another pair when these wear out.
