Great shoes! Lasted me 3 years. Got the soles replaced with a grippier rubber towards the end of year two after wearing them multiple times a week. The laces had to be replaced after about a year. I wish i took better care of the leather as they are just now starting to crack near the toe crease. Definitely recommended, but it would behoove you to take good care of the leather!

I LOVE these boots; I am a long-standing FRYE and ZAPPOS fan, but these boots top the chart. I originally bought the Black Stone Wash, and though they took a bit to wear in, they are now easily comfortable for all day wear. I wear them with "straight leg" jeans, rather than "skinny" and even wear them to the office on a more funky day. I don't prefer the round toe usually (too boring) but this is perfect for this style, as it has so much going on. I let them sit forever after I bought them (buyers remorse) but INSTANTLY loved them as soon as I started wearing them out. I will get every penny out of these boots. My next pair I ordered are the Vintage Camel, and I liked but did not LOVE the color and I am returning those, considering I might like the other brown tones better.

This is my 2nd pair of Frye boots and I love them, I did what most of the buyers did, I bought half size up (am 6/12 on most shoes), they were I little lose on heel but I bought some heel guards and it took care of the little rubbing heels, I did get a blister, gone now. The half size up only takes care of the length there's no space for really thick socks, so if you have wide feet would no recommend this boots. They are very comfortable I wore them for whole days this past week to "tame" them with no problems. Sole is quite silent and soft for a combat boot ( no sneaker soft, but still soft) Got lost of compliments from friends and estrangers too!! They're gorgeous, leather smelled so good. I think is true that once you buy a pair of Frey's you're are hooked and you just have to get another pair.

If I had reviewed these boots when I first bought them a year ago, I'd have given them two stars. But now that I've been wearing them more and more they have finally broken in and are completely formed to my feet. I've been taking care of the leather too, they're conditioned and cleaned once a month, because of this the leather has softened up a great deal around the areas that were once a problem. I can finally say I love these boots.

These may seem a little tight at first but the leather gives to the shape of your foot and ankle and will fit like a glove after a few times wearing them. I also have them in black. These are great boots that are rugged but not too clunky.

I love these boots. I've worn Doc Martens for years, and now that I'm almost 50 I decided it was time to look a little less...clunky. After trying on about a dozen pairs of combat boots, these were the winner. I take an 8.5 - 9 and I kept the 9. I figured I'd want a little room for thicker socks, and I wanted plenty of room for toe spread. I like the fact that there isn't a zipper - I wear mine partially laced, so they're easy enough to pull on and off. I also appreciate the fact that there's a little bit of tread to the sole - in the Northeast where I live, it gets slippery and a leather-soled boot means slipping and sliding. These are straightforward, good-looking boots.

I am a Frye-a-holic. I wanted some lace up boots that seemed substantial - with a thicker sole so that my feet would not get cold. I was going to buy Doc Martens, but since I had a couple of other pairs of Fryes, I checked to see if they had the lace up style. I am very happy I checked because these are amazing and exactly what I wanted. I initially bought these boots in the regular black, but one of the lace eyes was loose, so I returned them (thanks Zappos!). However, they did not have another pair in my size in that color, so I bought the black stonewashed ones. I LOVE them. They did not require any breaking in and because they are lace-ups, the heel does not slip at all. I found them to be true to size and width. I couldn't say anything about the support because I have a very high arch, so it never usually touches the shoe at all and this is no different. I have had these black stonewashed ones a year and they are my favorites, so I've decided to get them in brown. I ordered two different shades of brown - we'll see if I keep them both!

This is my second pair of Frye boots and the second time I was afraid I'd made a terrible mistake. My experience with Fryes is that they are VERY tight when you first get them, so much so that you'll be worried you got the wrong size. But, as with any fine quality leather shoe, you have to spend time breaking them in slowly over time. At first I could only wear these for one 10-minute walk at a time, and I'd have blisters when I got home. Now that I've had them for several months, I practically live in them. They have molded to my feet and are some of the most comfortable shoes I own. They arrive with an already broken-in look that I liked very much. You can wear them right away without screaming I JUST GOT NEW SHOES. They are the perfect height and have a nice profile that is "tough" without being too clunky. Perfect for the vintage 90s looks that are back in style. LOVE THESE and will keep them in rotation forever.

I love these boots so much! They have a classic industrial vibe while maintaining a feminine profile. I love wearing them with jeans rolled up a few times, leggings, or a dress and tights. The black color is just your basic black, nothing really to describe here, I would say the pictures do it justice. I am a solid size 7 and because I have the Frye Veronica Slouch in size 7, I originally ordered these in size 7 disregarding reviews advising to size up. They were entirely too tight so, based on reviews, I ordered a 7½ and an 8; the 8 felt very roomy (in a good way) but looked like gun boats on my feet - even the Mr. mentioned it without prompting. The 7½ felt more snug and looked better so I kept them and returned the others. Because they are lace-up, the width fit can be somewhat adjusted. I would like it if they were just a bit wider in the toe box but it is not a negative and it does not stop me from wearing them nearly every day. I wear dress socks with these, not boot socks. There are no zippers here which is a plus in my book. They were comfortable right out of the box, the leather is buttery soft; no rubbing or pressure on the shins or ankles and ohhhh, that wonderful Frye leather smell! Yes they are spendy but I have had my Veronica Slouches for about five years and they are still going strong - you get what you pay for. I am very happy to have these in my collection!

These boots are true to the Frye quality! They look great and have an amazing smell of great leather. I can't wait until I have worn them for years and they get that vintage look that is created, not bought. They do run a bit small - I wear a 7.5 pretty religiously and after reading the reviews I ordered a size 8. They fit perfectly but with a sock on the thinner side. If you want to wear these with a heavier winter sock, I would recommend order a full size up.

I purchased the boots 1/2 size larger based on reviews. I am glad I did! I think had I purchased my usual size they would be too tight with a sock as I am breaking them in during the winter. They are stiff and a little heavy, but are fairly comfortable. I purchased the black weathered and they are awesome! I receive complements every time I wear them. They are worth the money! Happy with purchase! May even get another pair in different color!

I read so many reviews about sizing up on these boots. I am a 7½ so I ordered an 8 and when I tried them on they felt like an 8. Too big all over, my feet were swimming a bit and the leather feels stiff so I know they will stretch. This pair must go back, and I am deciding if I like the style enough to get the 7½. I got the stone-washed black and they are pretty cool: matte finish, worn in all the right places. Usually I hate pre-worn clothing, but these just look so cool and not overly scuffed. They might be too cool for me, but they are different than anything else that I own, which is part of the appeal. The footbed feels comfortable, but I could tell that I would end up in pain the first couple of wears, mainly from breaking in the shaft - I had to tie them pretty tight to get a good fit. Which is part of the beauty of a nice pair of boots, you will have them for years and they will develop a custom fit to your feet. I have narrow feet and skinny ankles, and I tried these on with mid-weight socks, for reference.

These boots are great! They are comfortable from the second you put your foot into them - I haven't had any issues with blisters - even walking long distances. They are true to size. One thing to note is that the Grey Soft Vintage Leather is a mix between grey and a little brownish hue as well. It's a great boot though and I think you can wear it with almost anything. As with any Frye's I think they'll last forever!

I absolutely love these boots! I bought the ones that look like they have already been worn for years. I normally wear a 7½ to an 8, depending on the shoe, but after reading all of the reviews, I went up to an 8½ and I am so happy that I did! That was the major reason that I decided to write a review (To save someone else from having to exchange sizes). I am so happy with these boots!

I agonized for weeks over whether to buy these boots, and I am so glad that I did. They are expensive. They are also well made, comfortable, stylish, go with everything, warm, break in well, and will last for years. I have to say, I thought that I ruined them when I wore them to a party and got a few scuffs and water droplets on the leather (I got the taupe color, so it is lighter). But I took them to a shoe repair shop and the guy sold me a leather cleaning cream that took care of that and made them look brand new again. These shoes might require a bit more care than I am used to, but I love them and they are totally worth it! I thought I would hate having to lace them up every time, but it is fine and gives me time to admire how great my feet look! I took a star off for comfort as the toe box is a little tight and is not softening up as fast as the rest of the boot has.

Love these boots. It takes a little bit to break them in because it is such a thick leather, but after 3-4 wears they are super comfortable. I just love the look of these, I wear them with skirts to toughen them up or with skinny jeans. I get so many compliments on them! They are just great. I got the dark brown stone wash- which makes it look like I've had them for years, which I think is pretty cool. Ordered my usual size and they fit perfectly in length and width if anything I would say they run a half size big. Also, love you Zappos! You are the best. seriously the best customer service I have ever had. Thanks!

Beautiful boot. The leather on the chocolate waxed vintage suede was killer cool looking. The style of the boot is both tough & feminine. Nice lines that give the boot a distinctive old world elegance while giving a sturdy can-do vibe at the same time. Unfortunately the sparkles fell away when I tried the boot on. I have several pairs of Frye boots. Size 8M always works, sometimes a bit narrow sometimes not, but all doable. This boot came in on the extreme narrow and small end of the scale. Could barely get my foot in. Once in it was sort of rediculous to go through the lacing process when the boot was all around small, from toe to ankle. I returned the boots and did not reorder as going up a size would make them longer but not change width issue. Decided not to go that route. For those whose foot this boot fits...they are lucky and have a beautiful, functional boot!

Pros: Received today, using the very reliable expedited shipping. Purchased in dark brown, in my usual size of 8. I have narrow feet, and they seem very comfortable straight out of the box (wearing medium or light socks). The leather is a rich, lovely shade and the overall design is gorgeous (true to what you see here on the website). When first ordering, I was afraid these would be too clunky looking, but I couldn't have been more wrong. These will pair beautifully with anything from jeans to trousers to a fall dress.
Cons: Three cosmetic flaws. There's an accidental needle hole at the top of one boot (you can see a puncture hole, but no thread enters or exits it; the stitch below is loose, too). There's a fine silver line of ink (or marker?) near two eyelets - it reminds me of the mark a sharpie pen might leave. And finally, there's a dent/chip/pockmark in the heel.
Nothing that will affect the shoe itself, and you have to look closely to notice, but when paying for better quality footwear, it's disheartening to find flaws straight out of the box.
I bought these for a vacation that's around the corner, so I'm not sure if I will try to exchange -- I wanted time to break them in before the trip.
Bottom line - gorgeous shoe, but if you have a brick and mortar store near you, you might be better off shopping in person!

As soon as you open the box you can smell the great quality of leather! Then you see the boot and it’s gorgeous and VERY well made. It’s obviously made to last a long time. However, my feet are on the wider side so just looking at them, I knew they’d be too narrow for me but they were so nice, I decided to wear them around the apartment to see if maybe I could make them work. Unfortunately, wearing it just a few hours, it was too narrow; it gave me red marks on my pinky toe and the side of my foot, plus the back of my foot was starting to hurt. If your feet aren’t wide, this is the combat boot for you!

I like the profile of these boots. They are less bulky than the Frye Julie boot, which has a heavy lug sole. These will look great with midi skirts and skinny jeans. There is some padding in the foot bed so I think they will work for long days on my feet. they seem to run a little narrow which is fine for me, but I won't be wearing a heavy sock.

Pros: Love these! I got them in the black stone wash and they aren't nearly as distressed looking as the photo. In fact, I almost thought they sent the wrong ones. They are super cute with camo pants. I wore them with Hudson skinny cargo camo pants and got tons of compliments.
Cons: I think they feel true to size as long as you wear them with thin socks. The leather is stiff and after wearing them 3 hrs (most of that time sitting at a desk) I already had blisters on both heels.
Would buy them again anyway just because they are super cute.

A very nice shoe, however, I returned it because it didn't really go with my quasi-preppy wardrobe. In other words, these shoes were too cool for me. They were, however, flattering and reasonably comfortable, although quite heavy.

These are really cute for style and of good quality but they simply did not fit. The toe box was really small and I ordered my normal size. Unfortunately I had to return them.
