I've only worn Nike Air Zoom Steens and Jungas the past six years, and first tried the recommended NB 09 trail shoe from the Runners.com web site. The shoes squeaked with every step and the smallest of pebbles and dirt got in between the mesh and the lining. I then started searching web sites for recommended trail shoes and came across TNF Boa 50. Hesitant for so many reasons why not to buy this shoe; odd shaped and very wide feet, numerous back injuries and surgery, with long term nerve damage and severe pain in both feet and legs. With Zappos free shipping and return policy, I decided to try a pair. The blue were not in stock so I bought the grey & white. Thinking this may not be the best color living in the sticks as I do, I still decided to give it a try. I would not hesitate to buy another pair in this color. I did not care for the insoles and bought a pair of Dr. Scholl's back pain relief insoles and a few pair of Cabela's Merino wool medium weight hiking socks. Again, the advice on socks recommended on Runner's World did not work out nearly as well as the Cabela's merino wool socks. I've just started getting out and walking again after an 8 month lay up due to another back injury last October. These are now my "go to" shoes. I've even bought a second pair in blue and considering a third. The no tie lacing system does have some flaws and TNF will provide replacement kits if you need one. I love being able to dial in the lacing tension on the go instead of having to re-tie the lace after the socks have compressed some. Did a 2.5 mile walk in light rain this AM, not a bit wet inside the shoe. No debris of any kind has made its way inside the mesh. The colors are as bright and clean as the day I received these. I have found that I do release the lace lock by accident more than I care to (not quite sure how that is happening), but it is still the best shoe I have come across since the Nike Air Zoom Steens, which have not been made for a number of years now. The creativity of the lacing system is admirable and the shoe looks fantastic!
I'd also recommend:
The only other shoe I have been able to wear is the Nike Vomero 4.

North Face Arnuva Boa -
My son's second pair of the North Face Boa shoes. Very comfortable, great design especially for anyone who has difficulty with being able to "tie a shoe" such as autism. North Face has excellent warranty and shoes have lasted longer than many other athletic shoes.

Great Shoes -
If you fly a lot and are tired of struggling with shoe tying after you go thru security, these shoes are a dream. Pop the button on the back to get out of them and step in and make one twist on the back to get them back on. They are very comfortable shoes with lots of support for those long airport walks to the gate. I wish they could figure out how to make these into an upscale casual shoe. An all white shoe would also be nice. I can't understand why no other manufacturer has figured this out. My wife also bought a pair but had trouble fitting her orthotic in the shoe. I don't have this issue but you might consider it if you do. I have walked all over the bumpy cobblestones of Europe in these shoes and gotten them wet and they have been a great performer.

Love them -
These shoes are the best I have ever owned. Being in the military we tend to run in all different types of terrain. I can say that these are one of a kind.

Skeptic on price, but now sold.
I've never spent more than maybe $65 on a pair of tennis/jogging shoes, but decided to jump off the deep end with these after reading about Dean Karnazes figuring if they work for him they would be able to handle anything I could ever throw at them. The second I put them on they made my $65 shoes feel like junk. I didn't realize shoes could be that much better than what I had. I wear them for jogging, hiking, tennis, walking, and anytime I feel like wearing tennis shoes. I purchased mine at the end of March 07' and am impressed with the lack of wear on them. I thought tennis might kill them, but haven't noticed any faster wear amazingly. I do have to qualify these comments with the fact I'm very light in comparison to most men my age. I did order a half size bigger and they seem about right. With the Boa lace system you can get them about perfect. They also seem much lighter than any other shoes I've had. Cons would be sometimes I notice the inner stitching or seam near the big toe, but thus far it hasn't caused any blistering or major annoyances. The other would be a few times while playing tennis one shoe rubbed against the other and released the Boa lace knob on the back instantly making the shoe dangerously loose. It makes me wonder if anyone hiking on large rocks has had this happen or any other terrain where something could bump the knob on the back. For me they are very light in comparison to anything I've had, but they are somewhat heavy compared to a trail shoe like the ones made by Go Lite. One last comment is I have accidentally completely submerged them in salt water on a hike. They completed the hike with no problems and dried perfectly. Better than my shoes made for water that I'm still waiting for to dry and smell moldy already! So are they worth double my other tennis shoes? I would say darn close. I know I won't ever purchase shoes like my previous ones again. Lastly, there are a few places a little cheaper for these shoes than Zappos, but time is money and with Zappos it’s a done deal. Peace of mind is worth more than the few dollars saved from another company.

Great all-around running shoe!
After searching high & low for a trail/road running shoe, this is it! I am going on my third pair and would recommend these shoes without hesitation. I would, however, order a 1/2 size larger especially for anyone running long distances. I am currently training for the JFK 50 and these are the shoes I will be wearing for sure!

North Face Arnuva 50 Boa -
The Arnuva 50 Boa is awesome and comfortable. Very comfortable and easy to adjust to your foot. If you the walk/run on cement the bottoms wear out fast.

Beware: true running shoe fit -
Despite the fact that these are clearly being marketed as trail runners, I had hoped that TNF would size all of their shoes the same. I thought that since other TNF shoes I own fit in a size 14 that these would also fit. Unfortunately they are a full size smaller than marked, which is what I typically expect when buying traditional running shoes like Asics and Brooks. If they made them in a 15, I'd re-order them.

Awesome shoes to wear during air travel as they are simple to kick off and on going through security. A very comfortable fit all around. Make sure to go a full size bigger than your running shoes. I love them! Thanks!

Running in Afghanistan -
Awesome shoe for running on just about any surface (mostly gravel and hardpack dirt out here). The Boa lacing system can't be beat. Felt half a size too small though, so order a half size up from what you would order from Nike or Adidas.

Two thumps way up -
no need for break-in time, I was able to take them out of the box walk on them for about two hours then ran a 8 mile trail...no pressure points, no heel that was bleeding, no toes with blisters. the no shoelaces idea took a bit of getting use to but for the most part best shoes I’ve used since I started trail running 8 years ago.

Not hype!
This is one comfortable shoe. The Boa lacing system provides an "all around snug" you just don't get from laces. Now, let's see how long they last!

Awesome!
I love using the dial instead of laces...especially when I've just finished a run and can't bend over to loosen my shoes. Comfort is great! No pinch points. I had to return twice because they felt a full size smaller. Zappos' customer service is the best I've seen in a long time...in ANY industry!

Best shoe ever -
Once you try the Boa lacing technology, it's tough to go back to traditional laces. The fit is perfect, cushioning and ventilation are excellent. I'm on my second pair; the third is waiting in the closet.

Awesome Service!!!
I ordered these shoes at 9:30 PM, received email stating they shipped out around 12AM. I got these things less than 15 hrs later. Now, if only all online shops were like that!!!! AND FREE shipping!!! Wow. About the shoes, they are very comfy, haven't hit the trails yet, but I can already tell you WILL have to allow a break-in period for these. I did workout in them, back of my heel was a little raw, maybe I didn't have them tight enough? I probably could've gone w/ half size bigger, but it was so neglible and I'm not a hardcore runner, mainly a lifter, so I kept them. The lacing system is really cool, VERY functional, not gimmicky in the least sense. All in all, love the shoes, love the service even more.

I love this shoe. As a long distance runner, I couldn't be happier. It fits really well, and the boa lacing system makes it so easy to adjust the fit without ever having to bend over....goodbye untied shoelaces.

This shoe's just about perfect -
I don't want to reiterate all the accolades people have given this shoe, but I do want to add that it's all true. The Northotic insole is the best cushioning OEM insole I've ever experienced (I actually like the Salomon XA Pro 3D insole better, but they licensed it from OrthoLite). However, if you have regular/high arches, you know that no stock insole will give you adequate support. I took out the Northotics and slipped in my Superfeet Oranges, and now we have a 6 out of 5 star rating for comfort. Fortunately, I had a great use for the Northotic insoles. They now make my Converse Chuck Taylors the comfiest in the world.

Happy feet -
Excellent shoe! Very happy with my purchase. Love the lacing system and the way it only takes seconds to get the fit you want. Only one thing I change about the shoe would be to beef up the collar because my foot felt like it was going to slip out at first. Other than that will definitely buy another pair when these go out.

Great Trail Shoe -
Excellent trail shoe. I have about 150 miles of trails in them so far. The lacing system really lives up to the marketing. Lots of air flow that equates to comfort. Get a size larger. I normally wear a 13 but had to get a 14 in these.
I'd also recommend:
Just buy these shoes. Don't look elsewhere.

North Face Arnuva 50 Boa –
Awesome shoe. It is the best to get 1/2 size larger than you normally fit in. Shoe feels a little snug in toe area, but only briefly until shoe forms.
