Something has definitely changed with this shoe. I have been wearing Brooks Ariel for 5+ years purchasing new shoes every 12-15 months. I have a flat foot and overpronate so need solid arch support which is why I love the shoe. The shoe runs small so I always order half size up - 10.5 Medium. I had minor foot surgery over a year ago so initially ordered a Wide to accommodate my forefoot that still swells when I am on it too much. It was tight across the vamp and so loose in the heel that my feet came out of the shoes when walking. So I returned them and had the Medium shipped. These were painfully tight across the vamp and the heels were loose enough that when I walked my ankle socks slipped off my heels and down into the shoes. Tried tying them differently to tighten up the heel but no luck. I have never had this problem with the Ariel and I can understand the fit being a little off on my surgery foot but I had same problem on both feet. I returned the shoes. Then I made a trip to Dick's to try on other Brooks shoes. The Adrenaline had the right fit but a little less support. Size Medium offers roomy toe box and narrow fitting heel, both things the Ariel used to have. I guess it could be my feet but I really think the shoe is different. Happy the Adrenaline worked out because I do think for support and overall quality, Brooks makes an excellent shoe.

Best shoe ever for my hospital 12 hour shifts, overpronating, plantar fasciitis, Fred Flintstone feet. My feet are happy, roomy toe box & stable bottoms. I love you Zappos!

After years of searching for an athletic shoe with a toe box wide enough to fit my 'bigger' foot I found the Brooks Ariel and haven't bought another brand/style for the past 7 years. Although I thought these shoes were ridiculously expensive, I was tired of buying shoes that pinched or fell apart quickly. The Ariel holds up well (I've always been hard on shoes) even with daily wear. This offsets the high price for a non-athlete because the quality is there.
The only downside is the laces don't stay tied. This is not only annoying but hazardous! So either plan to double knot your laces or replace with locking laces like I did.
You can find a better looking or cheaper versions if you care more about those aspects. But if you want a consistently comfortable shoe, good arch support and room for your toes, the Ariel is worth a try.

I normally wear an 11 in all other shoes, but in running a 12. These felt about a half size smaller. They are super comfortable and have great cushion. Compared to other Brooks with motion control, the toe box is a little more narrow. The Addiction 10 is a little roomier in the toe box. Other than that, love Brooks running!

These shoes have cut my knee pain by 95%! I ordered a wide and although they fit, I expected them to be wider. They are a comfortable weight. I am on my feet for 8 hours, and my feet and my knees can now last that long without pain. I will be purchasing these shoes again and again. Thank-you Zappos for carrying a variety of sizes and widths.

If you suffer from plantar fasciitis, these shoes could be exactly what you're looking for. My PF is so bad that I can hardly get out of bed in the morning and I spend the rest of the day hobbling around in pain. That immediately changed when I put these on for the first time. I can now walk 99% pain free, no orthotics needed! I'm between a 9-9.5 and the 9.5M fits perfectly. They are a little chunky for my liking, but worth it because I can be active again! I'm back in the gym and doing a 5K this weekend. These should be renamed the Brooks Miracle!

I finally found my shoes! I have been wearing it since I got it from the UPS man 2 hours ago and I am not taking it off. It is the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn, straight out of the box comfort with no break-in time. I used to wear Asics 2160 & the Kayanos for years but with my weight gain I needed a pair of shoes with more cushioning and support. If anyone out there with medium arch, overpronates, and had gained 40lbs, try the Brooks Ariel and you will notice the difference.

I have wide feet with bunions and these are the best workout/fitness shoes I have found. The roomy toe box works for me and the level of support and cushioning is perfect.

This is my 4th pair of Brooks Ariel. I think they are wonderful shoes. I have plantar fascia and pronate and this shoe addresses both. They are comfortable, stylish and functional.

So love these shoes. They were recommended by a podiatrist, for heel pain, and they have really been a blessing.

Very comfortable. Great padding and ample width. Style is clean looking. I even wore them without my orthotics and was comfortable.

This shoe was recommended to me by a friend and I could not be happier. This is not a light shoe but it is not supposed to be. The name of the game is support. Great arch support and wider toe box. Way better than my Saucony. I will always buy Brooks.

Brooks are my go-to. The Ariel so far has been one of my top 3. Full support without being too hard while walking everyday is important and there's absolutely no pressure points or blisters. I love how airy they feel. Colors are pretty, too. I've always needed more room in the toe box side to side and top to bottom. These give me that. They are slightly loose in the heel, but it's not so much that they fall off. I LOVE them!

I love the Brooks Ariel. I have had problems with my knee and had been limping for quite a while, however, I am excited and relieved to say that within the first 2 days of wearing these shoes the limping has decreased at least 70%. It's amazing. I'm a nurse and on my feet for long periods of time. These shoes have made a huge difference for me, not just about the limping but with foot comfort and ankle support. Can't wait to get another pair.

I am ready to order my third pair of Brooks Ariels. I have achilles tendonosis and walking has been so painful... UNTIL this shoe was recommended to me. It has such a secure, stable heel with terrific support. After trying many things... like a cast on my leg for a month, 6 weeks of physical therapy, this shoe did the trick for my achilles problem. I can walk anywhere now for miles and my feet are very comfortable and my achilles tendon does not bother me. I was also told to order a wide width and this was a smart move. I love Brooks Ariels! They are the best!

These are great shoes! I ordered a wide per the previous reviews. They worked like a charm. The price is forgivable once they were on my feet. I have flat feet from fallen arches. So the toe box is just right. I also have a very narrow heel. The laces take care of that. Regular socks work just fine. Thank you, Zappos!

This arrive in 2 days. Perfect fit right out of the box. I have never had such a comfortable shoe. I have also never paid so much for athletic shoes but the Brooks stabilization was highly recommended for my feet. I believe the saying "you get what you pay for" is so true in this case. I am already hooked. Also can't beat the customer service. So helpful.

I over pronate and have a hard heel strike which makes it hard to find a shoe that provides stability and comfort. This shoe is one of the few that works without having to use an orthotic. It doesn't break down as fast as other brands and is washable.

Since being fitted with these shoes four years ago, I buy a new pair once a year. I am 65 years old and I need the arch support, and just generally need to cushion, take good care of my feet since I walk a lot. I use these for heavy duty walking, not running. They are the best I have found for my feet.

I've been buying my running shoes at Zappos for years. This was about my 6th pair. I usually buy a shoe I already know, so I don't have to fool with returning it. However I understand there is no cost to return an order. My orders are alwasy processed amazingly fast.

I only buy this brand (with this brand I have to buy a size larger, but I already knew that)

This is my 3rd pair of Brooks Ariel. They have redesigned it a bit from the last pair...the loop for the shoestring is off to the side instead of on top of the tongue. For some reason my right foot seems to cramp up in this shoe, but I'm not sure why since they are the same size as my last 2 pairs, but hopefully this will pass.
