I love these sneakers. My feet are very wide at the toes and very narrow at the heel. I have never worn these before (didn't know they were available until I searched on Zappos). I do have to use inserts at the top of the shoe heel because of my very narrow heel, but there isn't a shoe anywhere with a 4E width and a AA heel. These are the best fit of any New Balance or other shoe I've worn. I love the solid leather, because my former NB sneaks had a netting type, which was no good in the cold.

New Balance stopped making the shoes I've been wearing to the gym for a few years, so I tried these. They are awesome - comfortable, well padded, great on the treadmill but also stable enough for aerobics class.

These are really wonderful shoes. For most people they should be comfortable right out of the box unless you love a different last. I prefer the New Balance 856 (September 2012 version) slightly over the New Balance 608V3 because I have 4A heels (2A forefoot) and low ankles. All Nikes and most Reeboks are cut higher and rub my ankles. If you do not have such fussy feet, the New Balance 608V3 will save you some money! But this is Zappos, order both of them and try them in the comfort of your home (on clean carpet) to see which you prefer. I use orthotics so I cannot really rate the arch support. If your forefoot and heel are the same width, you cannot do better than these shoes.

Love this shoe. I have orthotics so I need room for them and this shoe is perfect for them, comfortable, put them on and ready to do any sort of activity. Have been buying shoes from Zappos for a very long time. I am a happy customer.

Really (really really) wish these came in cool colors like black or gray with some pink or purple thrown in. You'd sell a lot more! :) These shoes ARE GREAT! I hurt my ankle a year and a half ago (peronial tendon partially torn) running (but not in these shoes) and need to wear motion control sneaks so I don't roll my ankle. I am lucky to have found a gym local to me where the owner's program of fitness and nutrition is THE BEST... boot camp cirquit/flipping tires/lots of big strength movements... etc. LOVE IT and am back in shape. These sneaks are the BEST, too... but I only wish they looked better than they do. New Balance, I know you can make 'em look cool! :) I have a high arch so I wear a New Balance insert. My foot/ankle feels extremely secure in these shoes (and my high arch feels great wearing the support).

Love these shoes. Very comfortable. Also like the fact they are made in the USA.

My daughter is handicapped with a brace and she needs an extra wide shoe. To fit her properly, I had Zappos send me two sizes and had the satisfaction knowing that I could return the size didn't work. I so appreciate that convenience.

These seem to be very well made. I have bunions and a wide foot, and I have lots of room in the toe box. These have cushioning and support. I am using them for at home workouts with moderate aerobic activity.

My feet are so hard to deal with. I do Jazzercise 4 mornings a week and I'm always on the hunt for a great shoe with cushioning in the front foot bed and great lateral support. I used to use Ryka, but they've gone downhill. This NB shoe is really fine - yes, it is butt-ugly - but I only wear my aerobic shoes in aerobics so it's cool there. The lateral support is really great. I did add a small gel insert to increase the cushioning in the front, and now they're perfect. I do recommend these shoes. They offer a lot of support for my funky feet.

I bought this style at the recommendation of a podiatrist, and to use with an orthotic. It either runs extremely small or else the right shoe was missed sized. Due to comments that it runs small, I had ordered 1/2 size larger than usual yet my toes were bent under. I ordered 4E width-- which was great and fully accommodated my bunions--and with the orthotic in they felt comfortable and very stable (my ankles have a tendency to twist so stability is important), so I will try a larger size. I tried them on and then returned them because the right shoe felt so short so I can't say what it would be like to walk around in them.

Good support. Nice looking. A little stiff at first but they break in after several wearings. Very comfortable.

I wear a 8WW or wider if I can find one. This shoe is a 8WW and it slipped on my heel and pinched my toes. The shoe has a square toe that I didn't notice in the picture. Just not the same shape as my feet, which are very difficult to fit without trying shoes on. Thanks for your return policy.

I have purchased these sneakers but in W854 and then W855 they were so comfortable I bought 2 pair every time I purchase them about 2 pair every 8 months I purchased the W856 and I do not like then at all they are wider and wider in the heel. I wear orthodics and previous to 856 they fit comfortable and deep in the heel to accommodate the orthodics Zappos has been great to take them back after 2 months of wearing them..I am very disappointed in the change that was made to this style of shoe. Still searching for a pair of New Balance that feels as comfortable as the W855 that is no longer in production.

I do Jazzercise 5 days a week and was really hopeful that these shoes would be great. I am going back to my Ryka shoes. These New Balance shoes were heavy, not supportive and seemed to burn the bottom of my feet after about the 3rd song in my exercise routine. The overall padding and support of the shoe was not good and my shins and knees could tell this later. I could hardly wait to get them off. Finally, they aren't a good looking shoe on. I don't have a large foot either, average size 8.
I'd also recommend:
Try Ryka or ASIS
