The fit on this boot is excellent. I have a difficult time finding boots that fit in the calf but aren't baggy in the ankle, but these work! Unfortunately the zippers are difficult to pull, and the style is just a bit too Three Musketeers-ish for my liking. So I returned them.

These are gorgeous boots, I wore them for my wedding. I have many pairs of frye boots so I knew I couldn't go wrong. This pair is not an all day wear boot as they are pretty high. I'd give them a higher rating if my feet didn't hurt after an hour or so. However, if you want them for a sexy night out then they are perfect.

Loved these; however, the calf was too snug. Could have never tucked a pair of jeans down in them. You must have to be a stick to do so. Too bad because they're beautiful and would be worth the money if they were larger in the calf.

When I purchased these boots there were lots of rave reviews on Zappos but also numerous reviews complaining about the weird and uncomfortable zipper. The latter seem to have mysteriously disappeared. But it's definitely worth noting that the zipper goes all the way over the heel and is very difficult to zip. This wouldn't have bothered me if the boots had fit well and looked nice. Unfortunately, in black, the zipper (which is dull silver) stands out like a sore thumb because it's so wide. This detracts from the classiness of the boot. And the zipper tab is so large and heavy that it flaps audibly and annoyingly with each step. Another dislike: the angle of the platform makes the boot shaft tilt forward like ski boots. If you have narrow calves (mine are 13"), this creates a huge gap in the front (whereas most dress boots tend to gap in the back). Definitely not a good choice for skinny calves. Overall, a big disappointment, and I had to send back.

These boots are absolutely beautiful but won't zip up over my big calves. I'm so disappointed. The dark brown is gorgeous, I'm so sad.

I had considered buying these boots for months before I actually made the plunge and ordered them in burnt red. I expected to love them, but when I opened the box and tried them on they were just okay. The comfort of the boot was astonishing, but the foot part was kind of funny looking and old ladyish. I think because of the hidden platform. Alas, I determined that if I don't love a shoe at this price, it should definitely go back. I'm going to try the Julia Spur boot in burnt red to see if I like it better.

Regretfully had to return these boots! Pros: Wonderful padding in the foot bed, which is so important in high heels. Unique color - kind of a burnt reddish orange. Cons: Width at the top (at the knee) was very large. Can't wear under pants - best for skirts or pants tucked into boots. Horrible zipper running up the back. Very heavy duty metal zipper that cheapens the look of this expensive boot and is painful. Digs into your heel when walking, even with socks on. Needs a better zipper or a fabric panel to protect your leg from the zipper. Returning for this reason only.

I was so disappointed by these boots. I found them online, read the great reviews, and waited patiently for my size to be in stock so I could try them out and make them my new go to boots. Unfortunately, when they came I was immediately disappointed by their quality. Given that everyone remarks on the superb quality of Frye boots, I was surprised to find the zipper construction to be so poor. The zipper was extremely hard to pull up and down - even without my leg in it. Also, there was not much of a liner between the zipper and your leg, so if you go bare legged you can definitely feel the chunky zipper rubbing against your skin. Plus the leather was very stiff. There also was not much cushioning in the footbed for such a high heel. I could not reconcile the high price with all my complaints about the boots. So in the end, these got sent back to Zappos. Thanks for the easy returns, Zappos! I opted for a much more comfortable and equally stylish - though pricier - La Canadienne boot instead.

Holy Frye boot deliciousness. I have a pair of Harlow campus and the pitch is just too high. These are high-heeled and elegant but comfortable! They have a platform inside the toe box which makes the pitch low and at a 3.5 inch heel instead of a 4, they are the perfect balance of comfort and sexy high-heels. The leather is typical Frye - high quality and beautiful. If you are on the fence between these and the Harlow campus, get these. The circumference is about 14, but towards the top it flares out. I have small calves and am a size 4, so they are a little roomy but not so much that they look bad. They also look cute folded down. They are very tall and come barely under my knee. They are relatively cheap (price-wise) for a Frye boot. Awesome. Can't recommend them enough. I ordered directly from Frye as they did not have an 8.5.

A beautiful boot. I was initially put off by the "pirate" look of the folded down boot, so didn't even consider this one until I saw it could be worn up. The shaft of this boot is narrow by Frye standards, which I love--most models are huge on my very average calves. As other reviewers have said, the boot flares out toward the top because the back zipper doesn't extend all the way to the top. I'm still not sure how I feel about that, but after trying them on with different outfits I've decided the flare looks great with narrow jeans tucked in, mini skirts, or an over the knee length dress; it's not great with a skirt or dress that hits at the knee or slightly below. If you want Frye quality but aren't crazy about the Western styling on a lot of their models, this boot is for you--looks great with modern, more urban clothes as well as jeans. Also very comfortable for the height, with good arch support (I mean, good for high heels--let's not exaggerate here).

An addendum to the review I just submitted. I also hate the back zip. It's hard to put on the boot and very difficult to zip because it curves over the heel.

These were incredibly beautiful shoes. I had been lusting over them for weeks until I was finally brave enough to shell out that much money for shoes, but unfortunately I paid a lot of money for them and the stitching near the zipper of one boot was undone. I can't have paid that much for the shoes to have damage like that. I feel like it was a one-time thing, and I am willing to buy from Zappos again since they have this 1-year return policy.
