I am about to go buy my third pair of these boots. I am hard on boots and I can get about 1 and a half summers out of these, and I'm fine with that. I've found you can get really rugged boots that will last for many years, but they are generally really heavy and not very comfortable. These boots are really light weight and comfortable, and about as durable as you are going to get in a boot this comfortable. I do a lot of walking, digging, and playing in the mud, and they have yet to fail me..... I'd rather have really comfortable boots that only last a year than be in a miserable heavy pair of boots for 3 or 4 years.

I think I am going to like these boots. They replace my 30 year old Meindl Chukkas. They are sized correctly at 8½EEE which is my correct foot size. Meindl and Cabelas, in their infinite wisdom, have elected to no longer offer a EEE with shoe but instead offer a EE and EEEE. What kind of misguided marketing whiz kid came up with this ridiculous idea. Now I understand that Cabelas are putting all the EEEE with shoes on closeout sales because there is no demand for them and they are stuck with a huge inventory that is not moving. They will learn that Madison Avenue Whiz Kids make very costly mistakes at the expense of the manufacturer and retailer. Some day I hope to be able to once again purchase shoes that fit my feet from Meindl or Cabelas. Now I will get off of my soap box.
I'd also recommend:
None because none privide 8 1/2 EEE

When I first tried this boot on, I thought I had finally found one I would be happy with. Since, I have forgotten that it takes some time to break in a pair. Got committed to wearing mine all day the other day, and my feet are still in recover mode. Am hopeful though that once they are broke in, they will be great. Used to wear a 10.5-11 size but for whatever reason as I have gotten older, find I need to get 11 or 11.5 and a wider shoe. Since I know that got a pair that was 11.5 and wide.

Okay, I thought that these would fit good but they do and don't; don't know why, maybe because of the safety toe. They were roomy in the instep and I had a lot of lace to pull through before I can tighten them up so I had a extra footbed and placed it in there to take up the room and it fit. Now these don't fit like a non safety toe boot do expect some roominess in there. Other than that the boots are awesome. Always had chips; went with Wolverines. They always busted on the side where the leather meets the sole in a year. Hope these don't do the same. I do warehouse and drive so I need the water proofing and so far they are awesome.

The Chippewa (55160? 55161? style but before the "comp toe") boots were the best I have ever worn. They lasted three years in a brutal sand-casting foundry environment walking over steel, gravel, rough concrete, hot sand, oil, grease, water, etc., and even then the soles did not wear through. Then I tried to order another pair and alas, the "comp toe" was instituted and gone were the shoes that fit and felt great. I can't say enough bad about the "comp toe": The boot may still be true to size, but the "comp toe" apparently comes in one narrow skin-shredding toe-rubbing unyielding size. I have tried several sizes through Zappos, but alas, Chippewa is ruined until that miserable "comp toe" is removed. I wear a 9.5 5E although I managed to get by with the 3E from Chippewa without discomfort. Chippewa is far superior to Propet in durability and quality of the seal between the sole and the leather upper (Propet starts coming apart within a few months of squatting and the Propet sole only lasts about 10 months before the sole wears through). Please remove the miserable "comp toe" from the best boot made! At least give us a choice, there are still some of us who tell OSHA to go to hell where they belong. Sincerely, David Parker

This is the second pair of the same shoe that I've ordered. They're holding up extremely well, fit perfectly, and are very comfortable. I walk 4 to 5 miles per day in them. Zapped delivery was extremely quick. Will order from Zappos again.

My husband needed new all purpose, all weather boots that were waterproof, and these had great reviews and looked perfect. They are more heavy duty than the average person probably needs, but they are very nice looking (it's hard to find nice looking boots in wide sizes) and seem very well made. They do seem to run large, so I will have to return them. He normally wears a size 12, 4E width. I accidentally ordered a size 12 in 3E width, and they were too long but wide enough. The toe is reinforced which makes the toe box spacious, and he really liked that, since usually his toes are squished into shoes, his feet being wider than most. Still, it's nice having options for footwear for wide sizes on Zappos.

From the first day I was able to wear the shoes all day. No slipping from the 20" of snow that we got. Would be nice to have a little insulate.

Great boot! This boot is very light weight, has comfortable insole and the 3E was actually wide enough. I will buy this boot again next year when I replace these.

These are the best boots that I have ever purchased, they are worth every penny. I have used them in rain, sleet, and snow and I have never come home with wet feet. I am purchasing my second pair of this same style just because after wearing them every day for the last three years they are beat to crap. The composite toe is a must especially in cold weather.

These are excellent shoes. I wear these to work around the farm. I found the shoe to be true to size, light, and comfortable. I actually bought my size and half a size larger and smaller, then sent the two that did not fit back (I love Zappos' free shipping). I really wanted waterproof and so far, these are. I had previously bought Wolverines in a store and they did not stay waterproof long.

My son ask for these particular boots they are better for electrical work and have steel toe. Its hard to find this brand with this height of a boot. Taller boots by this brand are not good for his line of work. This is the brand all electricians are buy. Timberland hurt his feet. This is first time with this brand so hope all goes well!

Good boots overall loosen up after an hour of wear. The only draw back for me was I thought they were still made in the US!

I'm a female with 6.5-7 very wide feet - usually women's Propet 4E works, but Propets don't hold up very well. Am trying to find a waterproof hiking boot that fits. This was fairly good width-wise, but is just too big and heavy for me.

Great work boots. Extremely comfortable. Seem a tad bigger than in size. I’ve been wearing Chippewa’s for almost 20 years. Very happy

I have worn them for a week and I am on my feet for at least 12 hours a day climbing and hot, wet and cold Keep my feet dry which is what I need I would have been much happier if the shoes came in 5 1/2 wide but I have resigned my self into never getting a shoe that fits perfect. Women's boots are never wide enough and men's boots are never small enough that said if I wear heavy socks they fit fine. I went to my local work shoe place they had 5 women's and 500 men's boots to choose from men's started at size 7 women's were no available in wide widths. You would think after all this time manufacturers would learn WOMEN work and most are just settling

These boots seem to be well constructed. They are definitely waterproof in 3 to 4" of standing water. They are very comfortable for my wide (EEE) feet, with high insteps and high arches. The boots are also reasonably light in weight. The selection for a EEE width was limited. Zappos' shipping was amazingly quick!

Good boots so far. A little warm for the summer but not too bad. Other reviewers mentioned that the boots are a little squeaky when walking on certain floors but it's not that big a deal. Overall happy with the boots.

They are solid boots, but there is very little in the way of support/cushion, they are comfortable though despite that. My only real complaint is the material that wicks moisture (which seems to work well) is very rough, and the socks that I have are apparently thin, so it does cause a little discomfort after a full day wearing them. Also the material they are made of is fairly weak, I lightly kicked some snow/slush build up from behind my car's front tire and now have 2 small gouges in the "leather" over the toe.

Being a big guy, these are the most comfortable out of the box and the most supportive boots that I have ever tried. Mine shipped super fast, but when I received them I easily noticed a small gouge in the rubber on the side of the boots where the leather ends seamlessly into the rubber side wall. Anyway, these handle my 300 pound frame way better than my Red Wings, Wolverines, and by far my Cats. The toe bed even with my big fat toes have plenty of room even with Chippewa's comp toe design, superb! I honestly do not feel a thing walking in these, the width being a 3E, or EW, was spot on. The sole pattern is a "channel" system that was well though out as you take each step manipulating snow and ice. Since I got em earlier today and have used them in different applications already, I can tell you this much, I would buy them again in a millisecond!

A lightweight, breathable and flexible boot. Would have been great but didn't fit my feet. I usually wear medium width. Both pairs were too wide. The 13 was too long, the 12 too short. Size 13 ASICS, Addidas & Skechers, Reebok & Reebok Work's fit my feet.

The boots were not what I expected unfortunately. The material was not worth the money I spent on them, it just felt like I was putting my feet into two plastic boots. And the size was right, but my heels kept slipping upwards every time I walked. Finally the Chippewa symbol was entirely different from the one on the photo.
