Great Stability and Great look -
Stability is important when walking in shallow water with rough, uneven bottom. The Keen Newport H2 stands up to the test. Good comfort and support. They look great. Actually have gotten several compliments on their look.

Better than I thought!
I bought these for hiking in places where the shoes will get wet and filthy. I never thought I’d be wearing them around Brooklyn, but they're too comfortable and easy not to! I still think they look kind of ridiculous, but it hasn't stopped me from wearing them all the time this summer.

Satisfied user -
I rarely wear sandals and, as a result, am always battling athlete's foot in the summer. After reading the reviews I ordered these shoes a half-size larger than my normal size and they fit well. Most of the time they feel very comfortable and I can feel the air circulating. Occasionally, on a hot day my feet do begin to feel uncomfortable from being in contact with the unbreathable synthetic material of the shoe. But that's rare. I like the way the enclosed toe protects my toes. A good shoe but I will probably order a more open model next time.

Great shoe, new look -
Definitely something diff. and have already gotten compliments. Very comfortable, order at least a half size above your normal size. I ordered another pair in brown too.

Almost perfect -
I've been wearing these shoes almost everyday for the past two years. They still look new and the soles haven't worn down at all. The only problem I had with these shoes came about when walking in water with a gravel bottom. Gravel appears to be attracted to these shoes and because of the toe board the only way to get it out is to take the shoes off, which is a pain. Several times when canoeing I had to take these sandals off completely because of this.

Another winner from Keen -
This is the 3rd pair of Keen footwear I've purchased. They do not disappoint. Look great, but that's not all. Very functional shoe that I expect to last a long, long time.

These shoes work well for gardening because of protective toe and water resistance. Feel good. I would recommend these for outdoor activities.

I have also been wearing sport sandals when sandals were not popular. I'm talking about the mid 80's. Anyway, when Teva and Alp came out mostly for river rats and such I found a flip flop that I could actually play some sports in. Back then they were very basic. A thick piece of rubber a thong and a strap.
All that to say is I have had many sandals and have worn them for many, many years. I've watched sandals become more functional and comfortable over time. I purchased this sandal for probably the same reason most other do. Keen toe box, very favorable mid sole, and the heal cage is very secure. But with all of that shoe like characteristics you loose some of the benefits of a sandal.
I find the biggest frustration of this sandal is the Keen toe box. Although that saves a really painful experience it comes with the territory. What I don't like it 1) It doesn't allow your toes to breath well and 2) even more frustrating sand, dirt, rock and twigs get trapped inside! One must take off the shoe to remove it.
Also all the strapping make the shoe hotter so ones foot will sweat more than a "conventional sandal" Smelly!
Lastly I have had this sandal for 9 months and both the L and R straps have ripped.
All in all I still wear this sandal but just bare in mind that if you use your sandals outside you will be frustrated at times. I am.
I'd also recommend:
Alps which Teva bought then latter stoped making them.

Good Urban Hiker -
Bought these sandals 2 weeks before going to Chile. Nice fit out of the box. I've got a very narrow foot and the lace system accommodates well to my foot dimensions. I usually wear custom orthotics in my shoes, but the shoe bed provides excellent arch comfort and support. Heel strike is a bit rigid and required some breaking in. I did have bruises on both heels after a 20 km walk in Vina Del Mar. Because of the box toe, the sandals don't shed debris well, so they aren't the best for the beach. Overall sturdy sandal, good value, and look kool. Good on the golf course if you stay out of the rough. Pine needles seem to love these sandals :/

Made for vacation-
I bought the Keens for our trip to the Virgin Islands and they were perfect. Great for short, easier hikes, rocky ocean bottoms- I even wore them snorkeling. They fit perfect with no rubbing that you get from traditional sandals.

Status Symbols-
I bought these for a trip to Hawaii. I'd seen people with them around town and they had an interesting look. They looked like adventure shoes. I knew I'd be doing a lot walking both in town and on long hikes through the country, so I figured I'd try them out. They were the only pair of shoes I brought for the trip and I was excited to see what they could do.
When the shoes first arrived they felt a bit tight, but after walking around in them for a bit they loosened up and were nice and cozy. Due to the neoprene lining, I experienced no rubbing or chaffing. I was pleased.
I was pleased until I was two miles into an old lava flow and had to stop every 100 yards to dump the rock and grit out of my shoes. The good news was the shoes held up against the razor sharp lava and I felt as nimble as a mountain goat in them.
Once we got to the beach we were hiking to I continued to have problems with sand and pebbles getting in under my feet as I walked. It was then I realized that these shoes are not really hiking shoes. They're funky looking waterproof sandals and that about it.
I never experienced any foot fatigue and was thankful I had them when fording large puddles and streams. But I must say I was a tad disappointed in my $100 purchase. I could have just bought some New Balance trail shoes and had a much better experience.
At the end of the day, I felt suckered by something that by virtue of its design looked a lot cooler than it actually was. I got caught up.

maybe what you need -
I bought these shoes to basically wade out in rivers to fish and to use on my kayak. I had been using cheap sandals but they weren't meant to be immersed in water for hours at a time and also were very slippery on rocks. The Keen Newport H2s are better in both those respects. At first I didn't think they were going to be comfortable (and they weren't) but eventually I got used to them and now I like them a lot. The bottoms are very clunky but that makes them hold up well on rocks and as an added bonus they float. The sections of the shoe are very close together (at least on the size 10s) which keeps some rocks and sand out, but the rocks and sand that DO get in don't drain well. They dry very fast and the water runs out of them very fast. I like the lacing system a lot, too. It's very easy to loosen and get them off.

Satisfied Keen customer in Auburn -
My wife and I both own a pair of the Keen Newport H2, and we both really like them.
The fit is very good for both wide and narrow feet, which is very hard to find. The quality seems superior, and the comfort is excellent. Good cushioning in the right places and great support. There were no bad "break-in" spots like you have with most other brands.
The look is a little heavy for me, but the performance outweighs the styling.
I would definitely buy other Keen products based on the performance of this one.

Keen Newport H2's great for water, not sand -
I bought these based on a recommendation from a pro dog walker so I knew they were well tested. Although they're a bit clunkly-looking I found them very comfortable for normal wear but I really bought them for water/boat/dock activities. On this front they were great - excellent comfort and traction when on slippery decks and gooey bottoms (in my case, clamdigging). They also dried very quickly. However, I have two complaints: 1. I did not like them at the beach. I found sand really piled up at the front under both my toes and arch. It was an uncomforable, annoying experience. 2. They are not very easy to slip on- it takes some work and definitely requires the use of your hands. In summary, although they are very useful and comfortable, they are close to, but not quite, the perfect summer shoe for all activities. I'd recommend them for walking and wet activities except beach-wear.

Comfortable but a little sweaty -
I don't normally have sweaty feet, but these things get pretty hot pretty quick if you're just sitting around in them. Other than that, they are great. They look super, fit well and feel comfortable (but hot) from the first wearing, and match my sport-casual parenting lifestyle.

Solid Feel -
This shoe is for anyone who likes the outdoors and getting wet in the process. It may look like a sandal, but the sole provides a good solid boot like feel underfoot. The toe cap protects my little piggies when I'm thrashing about. An overall good shoe, for me the fit is pretty good; the stated size fits my american stompers. Kind of wish there was some kind of waterproof padding though, but no biggie.

Look cool but not as comfortable as I would have like.
This is an excellent shoe for the outdoor person. I went in the ocean with these and then on a hike with no problems. This is what they are ideal for, but they take a while to break in and I find if I am just hanging out I go for another shoe.

Fine Birky alternative -
My daughter got a pair of these earlier this year, and I finally had to try them for myself. I'm a Birkenstock wearer from way back, so I've got a pretty high standard of comfort in sandals.
I'm really happy with the looks and the waterproof nature -- I can wear them in the rain without worrying about soaking the leather (as I would with my Birkys). But they're not quite as comfortable.
I'm still getting a little irritation from the stitching of the "straps." And for some reason, the "big toe hole" of the left sandal just isn't where my big toe is. So my toe rests on the little ridge, and it's annoying.
But I'll keep wearing them. Besides being good for the rain, they're a lot safer for biking than Birkys!

Good Sandal -
To me, it's a rather ugly, funky sandal.
It is comfortable b/c of the wider toebox, but the arch area edge/lip of the footbed is slightly elevated, which makes it a little uncomfortable over extended walks...and a deal killer for me when there are other sandals without this "issue." Almost perfect in the fit dept. If Keen only takes note of fixing this area.
Definitely try before you buy.

I bought these shoes for a 45 day trip to Europe after reading good reviews. I have been wearing them for almost two weeks breaking them in. I like the look and the fit. My complaint is the absorbency in the inner sole of the shoe. I may have hot feet but I never have noticed before. The inner soles are rubber and my feet are constantly hot and wet. the only good thing is that my wet feet don't slip in the shoes. The insides are a little rough but they are getting better. Overall a good shoe and will be great for hiking the cobblestones.

Keen's Newport H2 a blister of a rub -
I have narrow flat feet and consistently have fit problems when buying shoes. These sandals were true to size and fit great. I am somewhere between a 10 1/2 to 11. I bought the 11's and they were right on the money.
However, the inner neoprene liner on the nylon strap on the inside arch of one of the shoes folded in and created a blister on the instep of my foot. Maybe this happened because I am flat footed and had more pressure there than the average person. And yet, it seems to me that this design would do that wherever someone had a pressure point and some movement with the foot. Now a callus is forming and I fold the neoprene back to "train" it into place and it seems to be doing the job. There also is some issue with the location of the webbing and the little toe. My wife and I both have a little discomfort there. The edge of the webbing lines up right with the top of the little toe. Besides that they are great sandals/shoes and we love the fact that they are closed toe and hold onto the foot like a shoe.

Very good sandal, some short comings.
This is the most versatile sandal that I've ever owned. Comfortable and supportive unlike most sandles. I've run in it, hard running turns are not recommended but much more support than any other sandal I've owned.
The key short coming that I've realized is that the sole doesn't seem to have a good traction/grip. As an example I was walking in short, dry grass on a slight incline and slipped. The traction/grip is less than desired I've tested the same surface with my Nike's which don't slip as the Keen H2.
The shoe does dry quickly. However, if you have a sweaty foot the rubbery anti-bacterial insole can get a little uncomfortable. I've never experienced this with leather sandal. The insole is more supportive with a bit of an arch which is more than I expected.
