This is a shoe that is great for wearing straight out of the box, there is no break in time required. I walk three to five miles per day and they are working great for me!

These shoes are great so far. They are really comfortable and accept orthotics really well too.

Bought this shoe on the reviews. Overall I like it very much. Only issue i have, which was addressed in another review, is that the laces keep coming untied. I am sure they would stay tied if I double knotted them, but being a firefighter and having to get my shoes off quickly, that is not an option. The shoes are very comfortable on the concrete floors I find myself on during the shift.

Sizing is a mystery. In 11.5 B, the left shoe was slightly short and a little tight. In 12 B, the left is slightly loose in the heel. No problem with the right shoe. The shoes are very nicely made and provide good support. They are a bit hot as one would expect with a waterproof shoe. Overall, I am satisfied with the shoes and pleased beyond words with the service I received from the vendor, Zappos.

Perfect fit and comfort, excellent sole grip on pebbly, steep up and down grades. Only problem: tongue is leather and laces are smooth stretchy. Therefore, snug lace up doesn't last five minutes and bow at top unties every 30 minutes. Really annoying.

I ordered these shoes for my husband, and while he liked them, they felt about half a size too small. Since he wears a 13, and there is no 13½ we had to return them. A full size larger would be too large. It is too bad that New Balance (and other companies) do not make half sizes after size 12.

Feels great and looks great, however, not the best grip for slick situations.

First of all, I want to say what a wonderful experience it is to shop at Zappos. The sales associate that I dealt with was extremely helpful. The shoes are great. I do a lot of nordic walking and have rheumatoid arthritis. The shoes are extremely comfortable. I haven't tried them in the oregon rain yet so I cannot comment on how waterproof they are.

Very comfortable shoe that I use mainly at work. Slightly wider at front than average. Excellent heel support...I have heel spurs and these shoes help a lot.

I have swelling in both feet due to neuromas and bought this shoe in 4E. Usually wear size 9, but ordered 9.5 after reading many reviews showing it tends to feel a half-size small. Actually ended up needing size 10 4E. Absolutely no problem exchanging the shoes -- Zappos send me the second pair even before receiving the first pair I returned. I walk about 3 miles in dew-wet grass in the mornings, so the water-proofing is very handy. Somewhat clunky-looking, a bit on the heavy side, but a great deal overall, especially since Zappos had them on sale! I never give anything more than 4 stars, so this is a very high recommendation. The next-day deliveries are amazing!

My feet are actually a "C" width, which most shoe retailers don't carry, so I usually buy the "D". I'd rather have a little too much room than not enough. That was a good choice with this shoe, which seems true to size, and aside from being a bit too wide, especially in the toe box, is basically quite comfortable. There's enough padding to make walking seem "spring-y" and comfortable, and the shoes are relatively light. The laces that came with them, like most laces in the past few years, are at least 6 inches too long, so I bought replacements right away. I'd like to see one more eyelet on each side near the top, but that might be personal preference.
I'd also recommend:
None. I prefer New Balance to others.

Not the appearance or perhaps quality of earlier 960s series, but still a good shoe.
I'm sometimes saddened by the industry's inability to continue its proven winners.

The shoes are comfortable, not as much as I had hoped though. This is the second pair I ordered, the first pair I ordered in 2E and they were too narrow, but with Zappos great customer service I was able to easily exchange them for 4E which fit great. Another great feature is that they are waterproof up to the middle of the shoe which makes them great for the wet California winters. These are the second most comfortable soles I have owned and the most (by far) comfortable fitting shoes I have ever owned.

Needs better arch support. The way the tongue is connected can cause a friction point near the toes. Otherwise, these shoes are super comfy - perfect if you need to dress business-casual and walk a lot.

I love the shoes with one exception. The top eyehole for the lace on the right side of the right shoe is too small for the lace to go through. I had to struggle to lace up the shoe. A design flaw for sure. Other than that, good shoe. A little pricey, but okay.

Not waterproof. Light rain no problem but today I was caught in a downpour and the water leaked in from the top of the shoe. The problem is that there is a center seam that is sewn but not waterproofed. Too bad. The shoe is comfortable.

I'm very disappointed in this pair of sneakers because they are not even close to being waterproof. I bought them because my other pair of sneakers were getting soaked through when I walked my dogs through wet grass. These are no better; my feet get soaked to the skin. I like New Balance because of the comfort but advertising these sneakers as waterproof is not truthful advertising.

Warning: These shoes want to go fast! Whoever designed these shoes really got it right. The feet plant firmly, the push-off is firm, with just the right amount of flexing in the heel-to-toe action. First day wearing these I shaved 1:30 minutes per mile off my typical walk time, with no real effort. Again, these shoes want to go fast. Unlike most "walking shoes" which are really running shoes with thicker soles, these folks really put some thought into the dynamics of walking. The result is a true walking shoe. My only complaint, and it's very minor, is they look kind of clunky, like robot shoes. (Personally, I could case less. These shoes are designed for their utility, not to make a fashion statement.)

These shoes are very comfortable in all situations. They keep your feet dry and warm. They are good for climbing up and down rocks and hiking in the woods.

These are a nice soft shoe that doesn't require any break in period. Nice cushioning. Appears to be q quality shoe, time will tell. They definitely, like others have mentioned, are a half size too small. All my New Balance are size 12.5 and these ended up being a size 13. Fortunately dealing with Zappos made that into a non issue.

Best pair of new balance shoes I've ever had. Very comfortable and sturdy. I work for UPS and am on my feet alot so I need a good comfortable shoe. Not really sure how waterproof they are because my toes still get a little damp after walking in wet grass or the rain. Other than that id recommend them to my coworkers.

This is a good walking shoe, with plenty of support, especially high on the foot and the ankle. The main thing you have to look out for is that they are really snug - no room for heavy socks or thick toenails. I generally love New Balance, but these were shaped on a different last from any I've worn previously.

These are comfortable. I will still replace the insole with a Powerstep Pinnacle. However, they should be cheaper. These are good shoes overall. These shoes feels like they will last longer than the New Balance shoes in a cheaper price range. You get what you pay for, I hope.

I love the shoes, very comfortable, but the Zappos CS wasn't that great. Ordered the shoes Sept 18th (Zappos showed the shoes in stock). Got email on the 26th of September saying the shoes would ship out the next day. Thought nine days from the time I ordered until the order was picked and going to be shipped was way too long. Called Zappos CS to cancel the order. The nice girl on the phone said she would cancel the order, but thought she might be able to make things right by expediting it via next-day-air. She put me on hold and to check with her supervisor. Supervisor said no to the next-day-air, so canceled the order figuring shoes could be found locally. While out looking and not finding the shoes locally Zappos e-mailed me a coupon and membership into their VIP club. As I didn't find what I was looking for locally, I re-ordered using the coupon, got a discounted price and next-day-air shipping. Had that supervisor bent a little, I'd probably be a happy camper.
