Had the Alvord 6 and liked them, but these didn't work out. Too big in the heel and overall sloppy and unsupportive.

I bought these because I have an older pair of Air Alvord and really liked them. They are not the same, wider and not as light as the older version. I'm no marathon runner so they are fine for now. But next time I would try something new.

These shoes are comfortable for short periods of time. However, the loose in the heel complaint from other reviews is mine as well. After a two mile walk I had a blister on my right foot. I haven't used them a whole lot for extended periods but the're fine in the toe area but loose in the rear.

I agree with the reviews that stated your heel slips out of the shoe!! Very nice shoe, but as I walked my heel would slip up about a half an inch. Never had that problem with a sneaker before!
The shoe is comfortable; wide at the toes (I could wiggle my toes) and great arch support (I have flat feet). Unfortunately, these will be returned because of the "slipping".

I had these shoes for a few months, and wore them a few times a week for about an hour at a time. The left shoe developed a spot on the collar where the fabric gradually disintegrated away - it wasn\'t a spot that contacted the ground or any clothing, so it was strange. Even when I didn\'t wear them for almost a month, the disintegration continued. Zappos has an excellent customer service department and let me return them, which was great. I thought these shoes were comfortable while I had them, and aside from the strange fabric disintegration issue, I would recommend them.

These shoes were well-cushioned and had great arch support. Unfortunately, the left shoe was too tight right in front of the swoosh. The right shoe fit perfectly! I'll be sending them back to try another Nike shoe.

The arch was very high which was uncomfortable on my foot as I do not have a high arch. It would slide on the heel and I could tell I would get a blister, so I had to return them. Very pretty shoes though.

These shoes are terrible. I love the look of them but that is about it. I usually only run about 6 to 9 miles a week and they give me such a blister on the inner part of my foot. They also make my foot ache. There is no padding and they feel very loose on my foot.

Love the colors but wore the shoe around the house for only 1.5 hours and my feet were tired and ache from the shoe. Felt relief once they were off. Thank the good Lord that I didn't wear them to work I would have never made it through the day wearing these shoes.

I had to return these shows because they felt so wide and big on my feet. I don't know why, I usually wear 7.5 in all Nike shoes. So I ended up buying the old version of it, the Alvord VI. Wow, they fit just right and do not look so big at all.

Alvord, Where have you gone? I purchased the gray and purple & they are very attractive shoes! It all goes down-hill from there. I've given them 6 months in an attempt to "break them" in before writing this review. I've been wearing the Alvord series for years, using them mostly for trail running and light hikes. Although I had tried other shoes, nothing else has compared for fit comfort and ability to feel the trail just enough on runs. It took me years to find the right trail running shoe and I've stuck with it. This purchase was my 6th pair, and something is off, way off. The Alvord 8 is not the same shoe as the previous Alvord models. Cons: The Insole: It feels like there is a slight arch support on the outside foot area (opposite the arch). It's very subtle, but causes foot cramping after a short time. When I added my green Superfeet (I have high arches), my heel kept slipping out of the shoe, making it impossible to safely run in these shoes. I've used Superfeet insoles with all of my previous Alvord shoes with no problem. I feel like this may be a factory defect. Feel Cheaply Made: The quality has decreased with the Alvord 8. The materials have changed and feel cheaply made and less durable. Wide Heel: The width has changed! My feet slide around in the Alvord 8 because the heel is very wide. After overly tightening them, I still can't get my heel to stop sliding around, even without the Superfeet insole. I triple checked to make sure I didn't accidentally buy wide width, but unfortunately that's not the case. This has never been an issue with my other Alvords. The search is on for a new reliable trail running shoe. I'm holding tight to my 2 earlier pairs until there is no tread left and this pair is going to Goodwill. I should have returned them right away. Bottom line: Based on recent changes to this shoe, the Alvord no longer works for me. Nike, please bring the tried and true Alvord back!

Look pretty but won't do the job of a trail running shoe. The inside is very simple, insole is completely flat, but removable. I felt that this material would fall apart easily, and my feet slide around in them because the heel is very wide. Definitely not a good fit, returned them. Asics were a better fit for me, I'm looking for excellent arch support for over-pronation, and durability for trails.

These are very cute shoes, but my heel slipped out of the shoe when I walked. I almost considered keeping them just for the color, but I had to return them because I would not be able to use them.

So comfortable at first and great support however about the fourth or fifth time I wore them for my regular forty minute walk they rubbed my one heel to the point where it bled and I had a blister for two weeks. I figured it was just the socks I was wearing and the next time I wore them they rubbed a little but I thought I had broken them in. The next day I had terrible blisters on both heels from these shoes. I can't wear them for more than twenty minutes...hate them.

First of all, I never write reviews. But I hate these shoes so much, I thought they deserved one. I bought these shoes a while back when I was going to start going to the gym and working out more. The first few times I wore these shoes, they hurt my feet to a point where they were going numb, and I was only on an elliptical. I did not return them because I told myself they just need to be broken in first. Well I bought these shoes in January, and it's July now. They still hurt my feet just as much. They make me want to just work out barefoot. Even just wearing them around town and walking in them hurts my feet. They feel oddly lumpy, like there is another arch on the outside of the shoe. Plus my heel is constantly slipping out of the shoe, so I have to tie the shoe tighter, which makes it even more uncomfortable. Also, recently I have started doing Insanity (an intense workout routine) and have found that these shoes are terrible. It requires a lot of jumping and lateral movements that these shoes are really bad for. There is no support on the sides of the shoes. I know they're running shoes and not cross trainers, but my feet were pushing on the side of the shoe so much that part of my foot wasn't even standing on the rubber sole of the shoe anymore. Also, my knees have been hurting a lot from doing so much jumping, and I tried using a mat to see if that was the problem, but that didn't help at all. I came to the conclusion that the shoes were making my knees hurt. So for about a week now my friend has been kind enough to lend me her shoes so I can do my daily workouts while I'm in the process of finding a better shoe. I have been using her Asics SGII and they have been a lot better. They are also running shoes, but they have a lot more lateral support. My knees have not been hurting as much, and the workouts have been easier to complete. I would never recommend this shoe to anyone no matter what you are planning to do with them.

Made the bones in my feet hurt. Gave me blisters even after wearing them 5 or more times. I typically don't have a hard time finding comfortable shoes and don't have feet problems and just a high arch. These were horrible. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
