I was so excited for these shoes and have worn them for a few months but am now returning because I discovered the design is defective when it comes to long term wear. I ran into a friend who had the same ones at a party and we were like "we love these!" and then she pointed out to me that hers (she had them for a few months longer) were totally ripping where one of the straps is attached to the leather foot bed because of the angle of the attachment. I looked at mine and noticed they were doing the same thing too, which I definitely wouldn't expect from an awesome and reliable brand like Birkenstock. I've had other designs in the past and they last for YEARS not months. So, while these are my favorites design wise, I am returning prematurely in hopes that this feedback helps them refine their craftsmanship for this product. I'll be purchasing the Florida or Arizona which I know from personal experience lasts years without any issues.

I have mayari's in black and love them, but the pair I just ordered in blue were not made well. The toe loop on one of the sandals was huge. For $125.00 I expect well-made sandals. I returned them and will look for them at a local shoe store where I can see them before I buy them. Mailing UPS is a pain in my town, so returns are a real hassle.

This is the last time I will try to fit into a Birkenstock shoe or sandal. They run very wide and a bit long so the arch does not fall in the correct spot on my foot. They are cute, but had to return them. Mephisto fit my foot much better.

I have achilles tendonitis and found the deep heel cup very uncomfortable. Heel started hurting after a couple of minutes. Not a good fit for my feet.

My first pair of Birkenstocks-- perhaps because they run big, they lumps and bumps on the insole (support?) hit my foot in all the wrong places. I could not imagine walking in them even a block-- so I have returned them.

I feel like I walk funny in these because there’s no give in the sole. After an hour my ankles/ legs hurt and the ridge in the sandal under the toes doesn’t fit right. So disappointed as I have plantar fasciitis and was hopeful these were my sandals!

I have 2 pair of these. They fit perfectly. But this pair, and another i ordered a couple of months ago (& returned), the small cross toe part is malformed or too big. I am new to birkenstock but i am finding inconsistent fit between files and also even within the same size and style of sandal. I do like this sandal and will probably try to reorder the same thing and see if the next pair fits better. Frustrating.

The ones I received should have never passed human inspection. The toe strap was far too large and would never have been sold in a store. These shoes should all be inspected before sold to prevent that. Somehow during processing, the strap was placed on the show with excess material which allowed an inch wide gap above my toe with no way to fix it.

This is the first time I'd tried on a Birkenstock, and they're not for me. The first pair was over an inch too long, so I returned and ordered a smaller pair, which was about a half-inch too long. I wear an 8.5, tried a 39 (8-8.5) and a 38 (7-7.5). I'm used to barefoot-style shoes, so the shape of the sole was familiar, but it's so HARD - like walking on a carved chunk of wood! The edge was also very sharp if my little toe wandered too close. The lower strap barely fit on the loosest hole (who has concave feet?) and the upper strap hit a painful spot on my upper arch. So while the pearly white was a beautiful finish for summer, they didn't work for me in any other way.

The shape of the footbed and the shoe itself were wrong for my foot. I have bunions on both feet and the straight toe bed exaggerated the outward curve of my big toes. Quality of the sandal was good and the straps seemed malleable and comfortable. I also didn't care for the color I chose - a greenish bronze. I'm returning them, found a pair of Clark's instead. Love Zappo's service!

The footbed was very hard and uncomfortable. The leather cross-straps dug into my bit toe. I could easily imagine getting a blister. I am returning.

These shoes were not as comfortable as I expected based on the reputation of the name brand.

I haven't had much luck with these, and I want to love them. But my problem was that each shoe fit differently from one foot to the other. One was longer in the footbed than the other, one required I buckle them in different holes, and my feet are pretty symmetrical. So I sent back. I don't recall if Birks are handmade but I've never had luck with anything but the ugly Arizonas fitting just right. So I sent back the Mayaris.

These hurt my feet so badly! The arch is far too high and strong. I tried wearing them around the house (because all the notes said they needed broken in), but they not only hurt my feet (we're talking blisters here), they did some serious damage to my back. Terrible shoes for my feet. Possibly the worst I have ever tried. I wish I had not tried breaking them in, because I am in so much pain now.

I have the Birkenstock Mayari (silver birkflor version) that I bought at Zappos and fit perfectly. I love them, so wanted a second pair. The toe straps on my old ones were snug and the material supple and comfortable. This pair with leather straps seems completely different. The foot bed is slightly bigger than my other size 38 pair and the straps are very thick and stiff. The one around the left big toe is very loose and stands up oddly. The general feeling when I walked was really uncomfortable. I thought I was upgrading by purchasing with leather version, nope. Returning for a birkflor version.

I wanted to love these.. Everyone told me to hang in there and break them in, but I just couldn't. I wore them for 2 days straight, maybe not long enough, but I want my shoes to be comfortable from the start. Sadly... they are going back. Good luck to anyone who can stand it, the style is super cute!!

I was very disappointed in the leather. It was thin but still super stiff. It did not seem like a good quality leather and based on the price and all the raves I have seen on this site I was expecting something in line with the price and brand. I even wondered if someone had returned a pair of knockoffs that somehow got through the Zappos system! i can get that shoe without the Birkenstock name for considerably less at one of the discount stores. I expected better. I am returning them and will not be reordering.

They're really cute and comfortable shoes. However... after just a few months they seem to be developing tears on the outer part where the second strap is located. I also have already run down some of the heel down to the cork. I used to wear Birkenstocks and keep them for a few years before they needed replacement! Not even 6 months in and I am having a lot of issues. Pretty disappointed.

Love the licorice color, fit was perfect out of the box... the issue is this is not a leather upper, and the top straps have given me a rash on my feet... not sure what options I have to keep them and not get a rash from the synthetic material. Anyways- always love Zappos and Birkenstock!

I was so excited to be getting these sandals for the summer. I have somewhat of a skinny foot but usually wear a B width. I did however order the narrow in these since they tend to run wide and the narrow width was perfect! As far as comfort goes, these were not the shoe for me. The ridge in the footbed under your toes was very uncomfortable! I could hardly walk around the house testing them out! I guess maybe I don't have a lot of padding there and that's why they were so uncomfortable for me, but it was down right painful!! The leather is super soft and I don't think one would have a problem breaking them in and getting blisters. If it wasn't for that ridge under my toes hurting so bad I would have loved them! Very disappointed!!

I ordered the habana oiled leather shoes. The look I love. The color I love. Loved them when I first put them on. After wearing the right shoe feels like there is some defect in the footbed of the shoe causing significant discomfort. I want to return but researching return policy it doesn’t seem it’s possible. The shoes looked “worn” after the first time I just tried them on out if the box. $125 down the drain. Displeased.

This was my first attempt at Birkenstocks and I REALLY wanted to like them. I wore them around the house for 3 days. Unfortunately they're just too hard of a walking experience. The arch support is great, the straps were comfortable. It was the footbed that just felt like I was walking on cement, all the time. Had to return.
